When I said I was expecting a boy you said "be prepared for ER visits". So we had our 1st tonight.
DS and DH were running around the basement when DS tripped and hit his eye on a tote. It started bleeding and he wouldn't let us look or touch it. So we took him in. The Dr said he would be OK, he has just hit the outer bone of the eye socket, not the eyeball itself. He was wanting to play when we got to the hospital, his eyes are tracking well and the bleeding stopped. Now he is sleeping, he is so very sleepy! He was such a trooper, when we were trying to clean out the cut he kept saying "Grandma's house tomorrow, grandma's house tomorrow!"
Now if I can calm down to go to bed! I'll be up checking on him every hour, probably!

Oh no! Poor guy! Glad it's nothing serious. We've only been to the ER once. Just as a precaution and it turned out to be fine. I think that was a big bump on his forehead. We've been to Urgent Care once when he fell and bit his lip really bad. That turned out to be fine too. I'm amazed, with as rambunxious as my two boys are, that we've never had any serious injuries.

Many, many hugs for him and you :grouphug:
There's nothing worse than watching your child be hurt or sick (I've had my share of emergency room visits with both my girls).

I hope he makes a quick recovery and I hope you can get a little sleep tonight.

Happy New Year to you and your family!!!

So it's late and I'm gong to try and go to bed. He's sleeping just fine now. I hope he's ok!

beyond the "baby" er trips (rsv, high temps...) we've had the "get on top of older sister's bunk bed and fall backwards onto the doll house trip" (head injury but he sang "the witch doctor" to the paramedics all the way ), the "does my foot keep the door open if i slide it under the weatherstripping" trip (stiches), and night before last (he's now 8 1/2) the "mom i snuck potato chips into my room and accidentaly ate a metal marble" trip (todays updated x-rays showed we are now about 48 hours from "elimination").

thank the lord for insurance :p

:grouphug: from the mother of " Dangerboy " , who is now almost 16 > I've lost track of how many ER visits we've made with Dangerboy  There were days when I just wanted to wrap him up in bubble wrap. :grouphug: Hope you have a better day today :sunny:

We call DS "adventure boy" but he is usually very cautious.

LoL barkley! Your kids sounds like a daredevil!

Glad to hear your son is doing well. :grouphug: I have been told the same and we made our first visit to the ER this past July when DS was only 14-months old. My BF who has all girls, eldest being 14 said she has never been to ER. Hmmmm?

Glad he's OK, so far, my DS9 is a rambling, typical boy but so far no hospital ER visits at all!!!??

Glad he's ok Sonya!
I raised 2 boys and spent many hours in ER waiting rooms with stitches and broken bones. Boys will be Boys!
My DD never saw the inside of the ER.

Ah, the joys of boys...I well remember the day my oldest DS, then 20months, fell face first into a stone bench and nearly ripped his nose off. I've never seen so much blood! By the time we got to the ER it looked like a hog-killing. But he was fine--I thought i was gonna have to be sedated, though.

Hope your little man gets well soon. Pick up a box of L'Oreal--you're gonna need it :earboy2:

Oh boy..By the age of 2 my son had been to the ER 3 times.

First time he fell into an end table and his left eyebrow was bleeding bad..they ended up using durabond (it's like superglue) silly doctor that stuff was hard to get out of the hair.

2nd trip- He was bit in the face by a dog at a friends house-(2 spots) total of 5 stitches.

3rd trip- Ran into the doorway at my dad's house same left eyebrow 4 stitches.

Since 2 years of age he hasn't been in for anything other than a sprained ankle (which his dad insisted on taking him to the hospital rather than call his doctors...got to love weekends with dad)
