YOLO Part Cruise: Land, Sea and Halloween! Updatedx2 4/27 TRIP VIDEO

Despite the huge variety of food on the Disney cruises, the one thing that always entices me when I read TRs is the hashbrowns, haha. They look so perfectly crispy and delicious! I definitely would have wanted to grab some more just as you guys did.

a good way to spend a rainy saturday, loading songs on my i pod and reading trip reports. you done good. this one was very enjoyable. just hearing Richard Sherman reminisce would have been worth the price of the cruise to me. me and my brother used to sing those wonderful songs in our youth. and dear sweet Annette, God rest her soul, all us boys had a crush on her. although my heart belonged to Karen. and through the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan, and the Who though Sherman Brother songs have a place on my i pod and in my heart. glad you got to experience that time with Mr. Sherman. i got a laugh when you mentioned a cup of pop. my cousins from New York would say that. we always called all soft drinks cokes. thanks for bringing back that memory. looks like being a detective called for some leg work. but i dunno, seeing a princess all by her lonesome... the call of chivalry would have to be answered. i still gringe seeing Brittany's photos. but it's the bottom of the 9th and the Pirates are coming up.

It was seriously worth the cost of the trip, he is such a cute man and his stories were just so interesting. If he was on every Disney cruise I took I would not be upset at all! Thinking about it now we probably should have stopped, I mean how many times in your life does a Disney Princess just hang out by herself with no one around?

Finally all caught up. Sorry you got so sunburned...that's happened to me in Disney before and then I'm trying to walk in the shaded areas and look like an idiot! haha

That detective thing sounds really cool!

Sunburn is not fun...especially when you have to be outside the day after.
It was really fun, I would assume that it is like the Sorcerers game at the MK but I have never done it before.

Oh these hash browns were just that, crispy and delicious. I wish I stocked up more on those.

Disney Artists & Saving Mr. Banks
After a nice short relaxing break we were up and moving again. We headed down to Animator’s Palete for some more food…I mean to take the Disney Artist Academy class with Stacia Martin and Don “Ducky” Williams. When we first walked in the tables closest to the door were all taken and we thought we were never going to find a table for 5. Then we found out that most of the restaurant was open and we found a table.

This restaurant though…it’s just so precious!

We arrived a bit early so we had to wait, but soon more and more people were filing in.

Don “Ducky” Williams started off the drawing class. He told us who we would be drawing that day….the mouse that started it all!
We did not pick the best seats because we were unable to really see him but it was ok because the walls had TVs built in so we were able to watch step by step, just as if you were drawing at Hollywood Studios.

Throughout the drawing of Mickey Mouse there were some technical difficulties and you could tell how annoyed he was getting and was telling the CMs to fix his mic constantly! The CMs working got everything figured out and the rest of the segment went somewhat smoothly

After we finished drawing Mickey it was Stacia Martin’s turn to teach us how to draw another beloved Disney character. She decided that unlike Williams she wasn’t going to tell us who we were drawing because she said they normally turn out better….mistake number one.

We couldn’t figure out the character for a good amount of time because none of ours actually looked like the character. It was pretty bad. But we could figure out whom she was drawing. We didn’t take any photots of this character because they were just plan bad…I however snapped a pic.

If you could tell or guess that it was Dopey good for you!!!

After the drawing segment they both decided to raffle off their drawings by asking trivia questions. This is when things got very interesting!
Stacia was trying to figure out a really good question, she a common question that most people knew. There was a lady going NUTS because she knew the answer but they weren’t looking in our direction and got REAL mad when someone got it right. Don’t worry there were 2 more pictures left to get, calm down.
So another question was asked about the fairies in Sleeping Beauty and a girl near us knew the answer…

Now the other lady who was really mad about losing decided to try and help out this girl. By that she was waving her hands and pointing screaming “She knows, She knows, look over here, this girl has the answer, please she is a little girl, she knows the answer!!!!!”
Turns out they didn’t like the question they asked because to many people knew it so they changed the question. Shoot that lady was mad once again complaining about how unfair it was and that she tried to help.

Soon it was over and we had to get ready for the Saving Mr. Banks Presentation, well everyone was trying to make a line to meet and greet both Stacia and Don so getting out of Animators Palate was quite the challenge but we made it. We ran back to our room to leave all our stuff there because just like Toy Story of Terror nothing was allowed! So we left everything in our room, went to the Buena Vista theatre, went through security and tried to find a seat. It was a full house! We ended up finding 5 seats on the side very close to the front.

Tim O’day also did this presentation, he sat on stage and started off by saying that we would be watching 3 uncut clips from the movie before anyone else in the world. But before we did he gave us some background about the movie.

• It took Walt 30 years to get the rights to Mary Poppins
• Every meeting with Mrs. Travers was recorded we watched a video with another Historian about how he was able to work with and listen to all the tapes that were recorded throughout the process of making Mary Poppins.
• We got to listen to some of those recordings, one of them being one when the Sherman Brothers are singing Lets Go Fly A Kite and in the background you can hear Mrs. Travers singing along
• He talked about Jason Schwartzman, who played Richard Sherman in the film, and how he worked with Richard Sherman to get into character. Sherman invited him to his house many times and taught him how he played the piano. (That must have been awesome!)
• We then watched a clip from this past summers D23 expo where Jason Schwartzman (Richard Sherman) and B.J. Novak (Robert Sherman) sang Let’s Go Fly A Kite and out comes Richard Sherman to sing along.
• There was a part in the movie when the hotel is loaded with Disney merchandise and after watching the movie I remember them saying that they did it again as just a joke, but I can’t remember the whole story,
• We finally watched the clips and just from watching them I knew it was going to be a great movie. We watched the one when she arrives to the studio and the Disneyland part.

I honestly believe that going to A Spoonful of Sherman early this day made this presentation even better!
If you haven’t seen Saving Mr. Banks yet I highly recommend it!

It was getting closer to dinner time so once it ended we had to make sure we booked it out so we wouldn’t get caught up in the chaos. Mission accomplished and we were the first people out. Time to get ready for Pirate Night!!!

you say "Ducky" was getting a little annoyed? i guess he was just living up to his nickname. at least he didn't go into full Donald Duck mode. you know that second drawing looks like Roo with a bit of (should i say it?) Duffy thrown in. i'm not being critical, because that drawing is 100 times better than anything i could do. i ain't no artist, though i can draw a mean stick man and a fella with BIG ears for my grandson but that's the extent of my "talent". doing the artist bit at MGM is on my Disney bucket list even though i can't draw. that lady that got her britches in a wedgie should know there are a lot of things in life that ain't fair; and getting free disney drawings is just the tip of that iceberg. well it takes all kind of folks to make this world go round. those extras, like Mr. Sherman's talk and the Saving Mr. Banks presentation, would be like an extra heap of icing on the cake. i would have liked to be in the audience for those. thanks for the New Years update; it's a good way to start the year off.

Fell a few pages behind - oops!

You're too funny about Stacey. I honestly can't say I've ever really watched her TOO much. For starters, I don't really care about the tv and so everyone else in my room always changes it to something else (usually ESPN) and secondly, even if I liked it, I doubt I would love it enough to just watch it loop endlessly. :confused3

Goodness, your group was so large! Haha I'm surprised you fit as many people as you did! Glad you guys worked out a bus situation!

Man, I love how on cruises you get to see everything first! I don't blame you guys for all the things you were so excited for!

I love the fall decor on the Dream! I don't think I've ever seen any of the seasonal decorations except Christmas on the ships! I love it!

I can't believe how dead the pool was at first! Awesome!

That's quite unfortunate that the AquaDuck was so smelly! What the heck!? Gross. At least there was no line. The baby Mickey pool was so tiny! I can't imagine what it was like when the deck wasn't that deserted.

I'm dying to go on a cruise mostly because of everything you said about being able to get ice cream (eye scream) whenever you want. I think that is the definition of heaven!

I love your DVC swag!! AHHHH that alone is why I want to go on a DVC member cruise so badly and not just any other cruise! I'll take what I can though!

Love your pictures from the oceaneers open house! They really did a good job with those areas!

Animators Palate looks so amazing!! Everything looks so good, from the food to the experience!

I'm so glad you guys watched some football! I'm a huge football fan! The food from Flo's look delicious! All the food does!

I'm like you when it comes to alarms…I just need one. Although I am so paranoid I'll miss it (because I have a time or two) that I tend to put 2 on. But more often than not, I wake up literally minutes before my alarms and don't need either of them. :rotfl2:

Castaway Cay is gorgeous!! Do you get things for running the 5K? It sounds like it would've been miserably hot! CC looks like paradise though. What a beautiful place! How did they ever convince to leave? I don't think I would have! ;) I would have been freaking out about the fish too though…no thank you! I don't want them to touch me at all!

Good to know about showering in the spa. My boyfriend is 6'6 so I think he would get super claustrophobic in those room showers!

I love that you had a sit down breakfast and then the buffet one! YAY FOOD!

That Richard Sherman show sounds amazing!! How incredible that you got to see him! That just sounds amazing, a memory to be treasured for a lifetime! Then to top it off with the Saving Mr. Banks presentation! That sounds so amazing! I still need to see it but I can't wait!

Eat, Cruise, Eat More. LOVE IT! :lmao: That sounds like a really perfect vacation, especially with some Disney characters thrown in.

The detective thing sounds like a lot of fun! Isn't it so annoying to be running around and thinking you are doing so well only to get to the end and find the other team there sitting around like they have been there forever? :rotfl: But it definitely sounds like a fun way to spend a day at sea.

I still have not seen Saving Mr. Banks, but I am really dying to. That's cool that they had a behind the scenes thing for y'all to see. And the animation class on board sounds like a lot of fun too! I love doing those at DHS when I can. Whoever had the second Mickey drawing did an AWESOME job! Dopey seems like he would be hard. I'll be honest, when I saw the picture I thought Winnie the Pooh or Dumbo. :rotfl:

Just a question. Who was responsible for the Mickey Mouse drawing #4? I love it. Need a copy hanging in my compooter room.

This is true, at some points we thought he was going to go donald duck mode but it didn't get that extreme. I love drawing at the academy at hollywood studios, its so much fun. This day was filled with so much DVC activities that I am so happy I was able to experience all of it!
Seasick Kiss was responsible for mickey #4

Stacey is just that, a continuous loop that gets annoying very fast.
The pool seemed to be dead most of the time, whats nice about this cruise was that DVC only used a certain amount of rooms so it wasn't crowded like a normal cruise would be. Then also add the fact that most kids are back in school at the end of september so that means a fairy opened pool area.
The DVC swag was definitely an exciting part of the trip.
Football isn't my thing, I was more excited about Flo's food :rotfl:
You get a "medal" more like a plastic medal and you can purchase a shirt if you wanted to.
Castaway is BEAUTIFUL! There was a part of me who didn't want to leave but at the same time being out in the sun for about 6 hours straight can be exhausting so I was ready to get back on the boat. Plus we got to go back.
I talk about Richard Sherman way to much now just because of that presentation. He is literally the cutest thing and his story were just so fascinating.

In late, but subbing! I've enjoyed reading so far! Thanks for writing!

Hello :wave2: Welcome along!

I wish I bought that shirt it literally was our lives.
We really thought we were gonna win and we were so mad when we saw them just lounging around in the room. Oh well it was fun!
You need to go see Saving Mr Banks it's so good!!!!!
Alicia drew that Mickey we called it the Baby version of Mickey. Poor dopey :rotfl:

Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me
So Pirate Night finally arrived and it was time to transform into pirate boys and girls. After reading about Pirate night and dressing up a near by Kmart was going out of business so Ma was able to snag 3 pirate costumes for like $3 dollars each, but 2 of them were 2 child size larges.

Kc used a Kmart costume and Andy used Alicia’s old dance costume

I wore my childs costume and accessorized it with my pirate Mickey ears and pirate bandana

Brittany had a pirate jack sparrow girl version costume from Halloween a couple years back when her and her nephews were pirates

Selfie Nation

Alish had the same costume as me so she decided to use her MNSSHP costume shirt under the dress. We thought that it might not be the best idea because we wouldn’t want her to get anything on it before we get to WDW but she isn’t messy like me so she was good to go.

While we were getting ready Ma and Pa were also turning themselves into pirates
While deciding what to be for MNSSHP Pa decided to go with Captain Hook that way he only had to bring down 1 costume for both parties

From there Danielle and Adam met up with them and they went to meet Jack Sparrow with Aunt Lisa and Jackson

Jackson was the first one to meet jack….dressed up like Jack

then Danielle and Adam took a photo with him

It was almost time for dinner so we made our way down to the Royal Palace. First off we saw NO ONE dressed up, it was a little awkward but we embraced it and once we hit the main atrium there were plenty of people dressed as Pirates. Pirate night isn’t mandatory so if you don’t want to take part in it you don’t have to.

As we arrived to the Royal Palace we were given hand wipes because although we were pirates we were clean pirates. It was nice to see this fancy decorated restaurant filled with pirates…keeping it real classy!

We were taken to our table once again back in our own little corner. It was ok though because we sat by a window where we could people watch.
Stephanie came to our table and talked in her pirate voice as Holly came around to ask for our drink orders and gave us some bread.

Pirate night is a special event and therefore it gets it’s own menu

And we took ended up taking a bunch of photos before ordering

Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates life for me

If you noticed all the water bottles on the table theres a secret to them. My family smuggled in alcohol to the restaurants so they didn't have to spend the money...real classy people here. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed....

I sported a pirate tattoo that was in our FE

and Captain Hook’s hook

The start to our Pirate Night was going very well and we were all enjoying ourselves until our drinks came…
Holly was bringing our drinks out like every other night on the cruise, except this time when she was passing them out to Alicia and Andy her foot got caught on the chair or something and this made her hand holding a tray of drinks to shake and spill. Pop was everywhere!!! More like on Alish.
You could just tell how embarrassed and sorry Holly was because she was apologizing none stop, Alicia had to keep telling her that she was fine and everything was all right.

Now the only problem was that Alicia’s MNSSHP costume shirt was a sticky mess

We all laughed about it, but the guy sitting behind Alicia was not happy at all! He was “shot” by pop as well, which ended up being like a few drops unlike Alicia’s back who was soaked. The guy however made a huge deal about it and asked for a new seat….overall you will run into people in life who are more uptight then they should be.

Holly came back out saying that she needs to go back to England, she has only been on a ship for a month and had already spilled pop on a guest. Stephanie chimed and said that it was just an effect from all that rum.

While we ordered our food, Pascal came over to Alicia and asked if she was all right. He than gave her a voucher to get her shirt dry-cleaned. Everything was taken care of and we went back to having a great night.

What Makes The Garden Grow?
The Pirate night menu had a lot of things that caught our eyes. Tonight I decided to order 2 apps as well as a lot of people. The 3 major apps ordered at our table was the pot stickers

The jerk chicken salad with citrus dressing

and black Beards Jumbo crab cake

In between courses us children had a nice little sing a long with supercali, hey mickey and Hawaiian Rollercoaster ride.
Holly was still hung up about the incident that took place earlier. Aunt Lisa told her that she was wonderful and that we all loved her…then we all gave her a round of applause.

Next were our main entrees
Many of us ordered the Jack Sparrow’s BBQ Marinated Beef Short Ribs with mashed potatoes

Andy got the Captain Hook’s Macadamia Nut Dusted Mahi Mahi

We were all stuffed to the brim but there was still dessert left to be had!

Floating Island – crisp meringue, vanilla anglaise and marinated fruit

Rum soaked chocolate cake

Banana Chocolate Crepe

As we were finishing up dessert, Holly stated that she won the worst server award. She told us that she only just started and that she was on the Dream till February. She told us that it isn’t great money but it was always something she’s always wanted to do.

Before we left Stephanie told us the usual night spiel. She told us to check out the fireworks later tonight and that the best spot was to be on the top deck to the right of the stage. She then told us that there would be a pirate night buffet that both her and Holly would be working. Then that we would be meeting at the Royal Palace again tomorrow night and be ready because they have the best desserts.

Ma wanted a group photo so we got in line to get our picture on the main staircase. There was somewhat of a line so we had to keep ourselves entertained but if you were to ever be around the fam for a short amount of time you would be able to tell how easy that is for us…we just like to have fun.

While we were getting in line Pa found himself a Smee

Then we had some twin jack sparrows

The CM had some work to do because we were quite a large party

Brad and Sarah missed pirate night because this was the night they had their reservations at Remy, which is a restaurant that you pay extra for.

Next it was almost time for the nightly show, Alicia and Andy ran back up to the room so Alicia could get changed. It wasn’t until this point when we realized how much pop actually ended up on her. While they were going to the room us girls traveled like a pack to the bathroom. When we were leaving we found something interesting…someone broke the door.

Somebody literally took the doorknob

Once again we arrived early before the doors opened. Alicia and Andy found us just in time before it was time to go in.
We “raced” to our usual seats and found ourselves in the 30 minute hold pattern before the show. No need to fret we know how to keep ourselves occupied

This night we found ourselves throwing out our Flynn Rider smolders. We were dying of laughter and the guy sitting in front of us was getting some amusement out of it as well.

Tonight’s show was Disney’s Believe
Disney's Believe whisks you away to the garden of Dr. Cornelius Greenaway, a brilliant botanist captivated with cultivating his precious plants. Dr. Greenaway is so passionate about his garden that he overlooks the birthday of his daughter, Sophia. Saddened, Sophia makes a special birthday wish... and the impossible happens: Genie from Disney's Aladdin appears to make her wish come true.
Joined by a host of Disney Characters, Genie takes Dr. Greenaway on an enchanting journey into the world of Disney stories. Along the way, Dr. Greenaway discovers that magic isn't mere fantasy, but a remarkable reality that surrounds him–and flourishes within his daughter.

Some movies that were included in this show were Aladdin, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Lion King, Princess and the Frog, Beauty and the Beast.
This show was super cute, and the original song “What makes the garden grow?” was stuck in our heads for quite some time.

After the show we ran back to our room so Brittany could get some advil. There was also another gift awaited for us on the bed

a big travel wallet that you can keep all your important cards and passport.

We each also received a page listening all our servers and how much we tip them. For this part we all already “paid” tips because it was included in the price of the cruise, however if you wanted to give your server more of a tip you could do so by adding it here.

So on the back of the green paper had all 4 of our servers, Stephanie, Holly, Pascal and our room guy Omar. Now I believe you cut them up and placed them in the correct little envelope for each person and then you give it to them the last morning. I don’t really know because accountant Andy took care of it for us.

The last thing we got was our Navigator for our last day

After checking everything out we ran up three flights of stairs to deck 11 for the Pirate party!

pirate night looked like a fun time. nice that your ma could find some pirate gear at almost pirate prices. (i.e. a steal) i can identify with being the only one dressed in a costume. me and two friends went to see American Graffiti. the radio station said to come dressed in the 1950's style. we did. no one else in the theater did. oh well, we were and still are "different". ain't nothing wrong with smuggling that booze; it's what pirates do. i hate to bring this up; but in your photo with the hook it appears that you are in the process of picking your nose. nice of you folks to smooth over the waitress's accident and have a laugh about it. as for that jerk behind you... well you phrased it better than i would have. speaking of jerks, that jerk chicken salad looks to be right up my alley. as does the short ribs. but i think andrew made the right choice ordering the mahi mahi. those desserts look a little too fancy for me. gimme a mickey bar. on to the pirate party. any one up for the peg leg polka? or how about Blackbeards bolero? maybe Captain Hooks conga? anyone?

Awesome pics! :)

Thank you!

To bad they smuggled it in most nights and not just on pirate night.
I may or not be picking my nose I guess its all how you view a photo.
I actually enjoyed the jerk chicken salad, it was different from my usual caesar salad.

Let There Be Fireworks and Food!

We arrived on deck 11 to an almost empty deck, people were just starting to mingle and find a spot for pirate night. We looked up to deck 12 and found a familiar Captain Hook

We had a good 40 minutes till the fireworks display so there was a lot of time to just hang out. At first the crowd level was very nice, we had so much room we had a whole section of the railing looking down to deck 11 and we took over the trash cans.

We were then approached by 2 CMs who asked if they could get a group photo of us for the DVC facebook page. Then they had Ma sign a sheet allowing them to use our photo.

Selfie Nation hit a high on this night and we accepted the fact that we were “those” people

Friends and family that act crazy together stay together

and this is one of my favorite captures Danielle got

After our little photo session, we did some more smoldering.

And who knows what alish was doing

It started to get more crowded.
Brittany and myself were trying to keep up with our stretch since we were missing a week of dance...and by that I mean we were literally just acting like fools. With all the people passing by it was just not in our favor. But Ma did get some funny videos.

It was finally time!

It first started off with a pirate show on the stage, I had no idea what was going on. The only thing I noticed was Jack Sparrow getting ready to rope drop down onto the stage. Once the show was over it was time for some fireworks. During the show you could see another cruise ship out in the distance coming closer to get a view of our fireworks.

With a pirate night it was only fitting that the firework display would be to the music from Pirates.

After the fireworks it became a normal after firework stand still.
Second dinner was at Cabanas which was located right under us and getting there took quite some time. We ended up being able to stay together as a group but got stopped right near the stairs.
At this time Club Pirate was going on, the pools were covered up and they had a DJ playing some good jams. Luckily for us once again they played party rock and we all had a good time to that while we were still stuck on deck 12.

Once we got down the stairs it all just opened up and then we really busted a move towards Cabanas. We were running and cheering and when I turned around I saw Pascal busting a move with us. He really came out of no where but it just goes to show how perfect CMs are and that you can really bond with your servers.

Cabana’s was all decked out for the night

It was really hopping in here, trying to get a plate was difficult.
Gma didn’t come to pirate night and stayed back in the room. Ma and Pa were getting ready to leave because they didn’t need anymore food so they took a turkey leg back for Gma

I was still full from dinner but the back potato bar was calling my name. So I grabbed a potato and corn bread.

Finding a table was a job in itself but we finally found some seats. Brittany didn’t get any food at this point but once we sat down she said she saw someone with crepes so she went to find them.

When she came back she told me that there was custard and coconut at the crepe station. So I went to create a “school bread” crepe

Once we were done eating Kiss wanted to go get chicken fingers at Flo’s.
They went to get some more food because why not. As we were walking around Deck 11 we found ourselves over the water

Late Night Adventure

Club Pirate was still taking place and the dance floor was a little bare. Brittany and Myself decided to join while we waited for Kiss, andy and alish. We had fun and a CM came by to dance with us. After the song ended we were told that Club Pirate had come to an end&shoot. Oh well.

We headed back to our room and decided to call it a night.
Tomorrow was another Castaway Cay day for us and we decided to try another form of breakfast and get room service. I mean room service is free so why not?!
We got out the breakfast room service door hanger out and marked down everything we wanted

I took a shower while the other 4 hung out

Brittany took a photo of her towel&.

and our stash of FE gifts we received

Darren our cruise director was on the TV!

Kiss ended up leaving, and Brittany wanted me to go on an adventure with her.
I was confused but then I understood what she meant.
Late night adventures in our jammies

So off we went to the elevators down to the main atrium. The ship was desserted, no one was around and it was just the perfect setting, only the few CMs got a view of what we were up too.

Now the past day Johnny Quest told Brittany that she should plank the Donald statue&ask and you shall receive :rotfl:

Mission accomplished and we made our way back to our room.
Once we made it back Brittany snapped a picture of our door because you can never have enough of those

When we got into the room ALish and Andy were already passed out.
Me and Brittany tried to figure out the tip situation for when the CM comes and brings are food to us tomorrow morning. So once we figured out all that we hit the hay.

Tomorrow would be another long day in paradise!
