YOAMD Postcards and Winners

After getting not one little dream while at Disney the last week of September-I was so envious of the loads of people walking around with the dream fast passes- I got home and had not one but 2 lanyard sets waiting for me :thumbsup2

I am close to 150 postcards at this point and still no ears or lanyards :(

I have not been trimming the postcards from the PO....could that be why?

Have any of you winners sent in the prepaid postcards without trimming them?

Thanks

After sending in post cards since the YOMD began (2 cards basically every other day for nearly 9 months) - I finally gave up since we haven't won anything. And none of my postcards were even returned.

But I will start up again for the 2008 YOMD! :) I know I won't win anything but I have to send the cards in (just in case!)

I think it's unfair that some win 2+ ears & lanyards and others of us don't win anything, but that is the luck of the draw I guess. But what really irks me is those that have won several items, they sell it on ebay. :sad2:

Congrats to all the winners.

Just an FYI - Be sure to ask your post office but I trimmed the first week we were submitting in May. The postal employee refused to take the batch (one each for the three of us) that we took inside, as they were to small (apparently there is a regulation size). :confused3 From that point on I did not trim! I only bought Postal postcards. I decorated some with stickers, others I used colorful markers on the entry side, and so on... we never won either! One good thing about the 2008 contest... you can mail postcards (cheapest way but I worry about our information being seen by all) just like this year or you can mail an entry inside an envelope! :woohoo: It is truly "luck of the draw"... I also think some people diligently sent in the # of family members in their household daily, so if they had 5 people they would mail out 30 cards per week, for the year! I only sent 100 total... a family of 5 would top me in less than three and a half months! I do plan on sending daily postcards for the three of us in 2008... I figure 18 postcards a week is only a little more than the cost one of our daily weekday morning McD's trip where my son gets a McDonalds iced vanilla coffee ($2.00) and I get a large iced tea ($1.50) and definately less than the cost of two days! :) We are trimming a couple of trips off weekly and mailing in daily postcards! :thumbsup2 I don't know if it will help, but it makes sense that the more entries you have in... the more chances you will have to win! :thumbsup2 Good luck to you, I am sending some pixie dust in hopes that the mailman visits you soon! :wizard: Kimberly

Being from Canada, I don't send that many, because it costs 93 cents postage.
We do not have the prepaid postcards, so we also have to purchase postcards separately. Oh well, hope springs eternal.

We've won several time with post cards from the Post Office - not trimmed. As kimsuenew said, the Post Office has minimum standards for size of post cards (and envelopes). I think the original announcement with the size was a typo.

Congrats to all the winners.

I quit entering in July and won for the first time this week. I would be really surprised if you don't win SOMETHING by the first of January from the cards you've sent this year. :wizard: :wizard:

I understand from a few things that I have read elsewhere that they are about 2-3 months behind on mailing out the prizes. Hang in there. It may be on its way.

i went to disney world in june and was celebrating my birthday. we went to the magic kingdom and had breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. When we got there, we told them it was my birthday. They gave me a birthday card and every princess came and signed it. at the end, my server came with a mini sized cake. It was chocolate cake with glazed icing and mickey sprinkles. i will never forget how everyone sang happy birthday to me as i blew out the candles. It was a birthday to remember =) (may i add that i am 13)

i have been to disney world four times ever since i was 5, and this was the best trip yet.
(P.S. I went to Tony's for dinner and they called me and my sister princesses and even customized my order when i wanted something different . my server was SO NICE)

That would definitely be nice! We just got back from a trip and didn't see any one from the "dream team" - saw only a few people wearing ears and/or the special fastpasses.

you are so right.....i mailed cards about 12 weeks ago and my DS received a lanyard on monday.we had completly forgot about it and it was a cool surpise.

I know that previous posts stated that the rules were 3x5 postcards.. but now it's no longer stating the actual size. Is that true? What were the issues with the post office?

I was so hoping someone would win something different besides the laynards and Mickey hats.

I won 2 laynards with pins and the Mickey hats. I did not sell mine of e-bay, I gave away one set on my board that I moderate. If I win another set, someone else wants them. I told everyone numerous times to mail in postcards, but no one seems to want the hassle.

It is a lot of work to remember to mail them in, I just wish, they could give out one big prize to a mail-in entry. It would be fun to see the prizes that were awarded through the mail.

We sent well over 100 for the 2007 contest and didn't win anything! :upsidedow We are going to start mailing for the 2008 after Christmas. I have a stock of 100 more postal postcards ready to send out! :) We did not send them daily, and will not this time either... we tend to send 2-3 per week for the three of us. I wish someone that mailed in cards would win big as well... that would be cool! :thumbsup2 I would be thrilled if we would even win a set of ears or lanyards! :goodvibes It is kind of fun entering... it does not cost a fortune and gives you a tiny glimmer of hope at a big prize!

I have to say I didn't really send in that many entries compared to some that posted here. Maybe 10 if that. Still can't believe I won a set. Now I need to start sending in for 2008! Good Luck everyone!

P.S. Seems like I have a better shot at the mail-in than when I'm there! LOL

Is anyone having a problem with the post office sending the post cards back to your home???

I got one back yesterday. Apparently they are confused about which side of the post card is the address it's supposed to go to even though I clearly marked one side "TO" & one side "FROM", and shouldn't they know the stamped side has the send to addess on it?

Trick is to turn the card and put YOUR information on the card when it's lengthwise...machines don't read it that way.
