YOAMD Postcards and Winners

DH and I each received ears just last week. The news one are dark blue.

We now have won 7 pairs of ears & 1 lanyard from mailing in postcards.

I won a pair of the 2008 ears last week. I too wondered about the different color. Personally, I liked the other ones better. I won a pair of those and have also won two lanyards.

I had been sending in cards for my DH, DD and I, but stopped shortly before the holidays...things just got too hectic. I just figured we didn't win anything. Then yesterday, we all got a set of YOMD ears! I couldn't believe that all 3 of us had won. We had alot of fun dancing around in our new "hats." It really made my DD's day!

I didn't cut off the half inch for the first 3 weeks until I read on here that the rules stated 3x5 size of the card, then I started cutting it off, I'm being bold too, it doesn't state anywhere that you can't mail one in every day and that is what I've been doing. One each for me, DH and DD..let's see 3 a day for a week is 15 times 52 weeks...whoaa...that's a lot of money :rotfl2:

But if I win, it will have been worth every penny :)

I just wish someone mailing cards in would win something and post it on here so we know there's hope ;)

I don't know if this was asked in this thread somewhere (didn't read all pages) but according to the official rules now) there seems to be no indication of 3x5 size. the Post office pc are 3-1/2"x5-1/2". Has anyone won without trimming down?
this is what the rules are now saying:

Also, starting on December 19, 2007, eligible participants can enter without being present in a Disney Property by hand-writing their full name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime telephone number (including area code), and date of birth on a piece of paper or postcard and sending it with proper postage affixed to: P.O. Box 8650, Elmhurst, IL 60126, USA or if a legal resident of the UK: 2008 Disney Dreams Giveaway,483 Green Lanes, Suite 200, London N13 4BS, England. Limit one mail-in entry per person per day during the Giveaway Period. All mail-in entries must be mailed separately, postmarked on or between December 19, 2007 and December 31, 2008 and received by January 14, 2009 or they will be void

I never trim down, and have won 8 times

The ears that people are getting now are NOT the 2008 ones. They are in between 2007 and 2008 ones

These are 2007:

Thanks for the info....now I can still hope for the 2008 ones. The "in betweens" are nice to have won but they look like they are not "complete" now that I have seen 2007 and 2008.....

This contest is over now, correct? Is there a new one for this year that anyone is aware of? I just bought a bunch of blank postcards-and then noticed the entry deadline of January 2008.

The contest was extended for another year. See this thread for all the current details: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1329422

Here's the information for mail entries. Note that you're now required to hand-write your name/address/etc. and the P.O. Box number has changed for 2008 entries:

Thank you for the current contest information. I am going to start writing out postcards ASAP. :lmao:

Hello everyone, we just returned from WDW and although we did not win any "official" dreams we had a wonderful time and talked to a few members of the dream team. They told us that on January 26th the Castle stay was awarded to a mail in contestant... and they send out lots of lanyards and hats daily, so don't give up :cheer2:

I hope someone on the DIS board was awarded the Castle stay on 1/26. I wonder if they get to pick the night or DISNEY picks the night and they have to go..

One of my entries came back!

It's kind of commical because I don't think it ever even got to IL. :confused3 It was stamped (by the post office) and said "Northern VA". That's all ...not "return to sender" or anything like that. So I'm thinking the post office screwed up and cost me a stamp! :) I even had DH check the address to make sure I wasn't crazy and put our address instead of the contest's address.

Just my luck because that entry was probably the entry that would have won me something! :rotfl:

Back to sending postcards now...:yay:

I know in the rules, if a mail-in entry wins a prize that you'd have to be present for (stay in castle, dream fastpass, etc.), it says they'll award you a comparable prize instead.

Is everyone sending postcards or will an envelope with an index card inside work?? The rules say a piece of paper or postcard. I guess a postcard is cheaper to mail, but I don't know that I want all of my info (with birthdate) available for all to see...

I'm sending an index card inside an envelope. I'm with you about having all my info "out there". :)

I have been sending post cards.

I only have had one returned.

I send postcards, however, we hand deliver ours to the postal worker inside our local post office.

I do not like all the info on their either, it does make me nervous, so I decided right from the beginning not to put them in our rural mailbox, or in one of the big, blue mailboxes... hand delivery seemed to lessen the number of hands involved somewhat (well... at least until it gets inside).

I have considered putting them into an envelope, but then it becomes an extra .40 cents plus per mailing (for the three of us).

I don't know :confused3 what do you all think about the security aspect of our (including kids) info being available?

The name and address did not bother me, nor the telephone (readily available, for adults, via the internet, city directory, or telephone book a lot of time). What bothers me is the date-of-birth.

I have sent over 100 cards in, without an envelope, so far... without any problems.

This may be a stupid question, but....
when you are addressing your envelope or postcard....
do you put "2008 disney dreams giveaway" ?
or just start w/ the PO box?:confused3

:rolleyes1 never mind...I found the answer...I must be way tooo tired!

no it wasn't a stupid question- i wondered myself. Put 2008 Disney Dreams Giveaway. They mention it for UK residents, but regardless, that's what I'm putting down.

I address them to YOAMD. Hope that' okay. None have come back so far.
