Yikes it's cold out there!

Okay, I know, this is whining compared to those of you experiencing blizzards and stuff -- but still, it's cold. For Houston, anyway. We just had to cover the outside faucets for the first time (okay, no exciting thing to most people, but hey, it's a first for us ) because it's supposed to hit 30 tonight.

Not even Christmas yet and I'm so sick of snow and cold I could scream!!!!!

I hope this isn't a preview of what the whole winter is going to be like..

Is it just me, or is it unseasonably cold just about everywhere this year?

Probly just me, but I keep reading posts about people getting more snow than usual or getting snow when they haven't had it in years or it getting below freezing when that usually doesn't happen for several more weeks if not another month?

Droughts are awful, Nutsy. I even read about how bull sharks are going further inland, making it even more dangerous for folks to cool down at the local watering hole. I hope y'all get rain soon. My area has had a rain deficit for 3 years now, but nothing as bad as what y'all are enduring.

Hmmm. All in you perspective, Rajah! What you have would be a heat wave here! It was only 1 above actual temperature yesterday morning when I first arrived at the new place to stand outside and watch. That was actual temp. not even sure what the wind chill was. I really didn't want to know anyway!

30° sounds like a heat wave to me. Somebody send some of that warn weather up north for a day or two.

We're cold too, Rajah. I know most of the country would think I'm nuts for thinking that a low of 30 is cold, but there was ice on everything yesterday, and that's cold.

BTW, if your house is on a concrete foundation, you don't have to be fanatical about covering your faucets. I've never actually covered mine, and it's gotten down around 0, and ours never burst. But take this advice with a grain of salt because I don't want to be responsible if yours does burst.

Im sorry Rajah, but your post has me ROFL! We are luck if we hit 30 for a high, and if we do, that would feel warm after what we have been having.

It's supposed to hit a high of 35 here today and we are ecstatic!

It's only been in the low 20's here for a while now, and with the windchill it's actually more like in the low teens.
The other night, it was 7 degrees with a windchill of -5 where my husband works!

When we were up in Alaska in September we had 24 on our last morning & that was quite cool, but not cold.

Ok maybe you all think I'm totally nuts cause I'm an Aussie, but honestly we weren't cold & the temps were cold ( or so they said). We were really expecting to freeze, but it just wasn't cold.

Olena.......al the cattle are dying over here, for lack of fodder & water. The meat prices are set to soar & we just won't be able to afford to eat it as it will be like buying gold. This is the worst drought in 100 years & there just isn't any water for the farmers. They are even drinking recycled water (dirty). It's shocking!

We need it bucket down for a good couple of weeks to get some water back in the dams.
