Cuz if I don't ask..I'll never know and [GI Joe] KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE![/GI Joe]:)

IS there a set rotation you MUST follow for dinner (I.E...Parrot Cay then Triton's/Lumiere's with Animator's Palate being last) or can you mix it up a bit and do say...two nights at Triton's/Lumiere's, two nights at Parrot Cay and only one at Animator's Palate? Or something like that?

That is another issue DH is having with the cruise...he doesn't want to be told where he HAS to eat each night and frankly neither do I..I want to be able to kind of pick and choose,ya know?

Does that make sense to anyone but me?

Sounds like your DH would be more comfortable with FreeStyle CruisingTM at NCL. Yes, your husband is correct, with Disney, you have a designated time/place for dinner.

You will have designated sit down restaurants each night. But if you don't want to go there, you can order room service or go to Topsiders Buffet anytime. They need to have Parrot's Cay, Animator's Palate and Luminere's/Triton's planned so that your servers will always be at the restaurant you will be if you choose to dine at the sit down.

Breakfast and Lunch you can have where you want except for during the Character Breakfast - when you will be allowed in only during your turn.

Dinner is a structured affair. You are assigned a dinning rotation, starting at one of the three restaurants, and rotating between them on a fixed schedule. You are also assigned the same table number in each restaurant. You will have the same servers and tablemates in each location. This way your servers get to know you better and are better able to serve you - they will know your likes and dislikes by the end of the cruise.

And if you are fortunate enough to have a table with another family, you may get to know someone else on the cruise. Meeting other families has been one of the more enjoyable aspects of cruising for us. We have never had the "tablemates from heck" on our cruises.

Like all the last posters said you follow the roatation you are assigned. That is like tradition of cruiseing. You at at your assigned resturaunt with your server. You get to rotate with the same server. You still end up getting all the menus and will end up getting to eat off everyone. You will like it and I think your husband will to. If you are really against go with Princess or NCL. We are acutally going to be sailing on Princess summer 2005.
Hope This Helps,
matt

There are many people who feel as you do and prefer to pick and chose what restaurants they want to dine in each evening. As Dave mentioned that it a new trend in cruising called Free style dining.

I prefer Disney's way....it is traditional in the sense that you have the same server's throughout your cruise, but Disney is also innovative in that they are the only cruise line that has rotational dining through different restaurants.

I do not look at it as being told where to eat each night....I look at it more like I am invited to dine in a particular restaurant on a particular night. By having three dining rooms serving at the same time it is a more intimate setting than having all 2700 or so passengers in one dining room. I have done that route on other lines and it can be quite noisy. On Disney I know I will be able to experience all three dining rooms and if I prefer not to repeat one I will dine in Topsiders or Palo.

Though, in our 8 DCL cruises we have never opted out of the regular rotation unless we had Palo reservations. Another bonus is that I do not have to think about where to eat....I make decisions all day at work and it is wonderful to have one less thing to decide about while onboard!

Have a great cruise!!!
