I give my support to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which actively CARES FOR animals in needs. I really see no good from PETA...they and the Humane Society wanted the Vick dog euthanized. Best Friends fought against that thankfully.
Nothing they're doing endangers anyone's life.![]()
I thought about becoming a vegetarian years ago. Then I saw these stark raving mad lunatic vegans and worried that it might be caused by a meat deficiency. I decided to play it safe and stuck with omnivorism.
I'm wondering if the campaign could backfire on Peta. I know that my kids, if given the choice, will always choose chicken, hamburgers, and hot dogs over most vegetarian dishes and certainly over vegan dishes. If they have to chose between not harming animals and not getting any meat, cheese, or milk, those animals are in trouble.
It's horrifying and PETA and others hope that by spreading awareness of this process, caring consumers will not give their dollars to these companies. McDonalds is just one of them.

I've been a vegetarian for 22 years... not a vegan. Not sure if I'd turn stark raving made if I gave up milk and eggs.
A lot of people believe that if children really knew and understood where their dinner came from, then these children (or more of them, anyway) would make meat-free choices. I know that this was my personal experience. As a child, I was shocked to find that we were eating animals for dinner but I was constantly told, "It's no big deal" and "That's what animals are for." I disagreed.
I have seen children smile widely and proclaim that they are eating a pig or a chicken or a cow, but if they saw what happened at the factory where the meat came from, they might not feel the same way.
I'm sure that is why PETA is targeting children with this campaign. It's not really about the fact that they are feeding animals to children - it's about the torture that the animals endure in the process of becoming food. The difference between the days of the family farm and the cows/chickens/pigs that lived a "normal" life before becoming food and today's factory farms are day and night. It's horrifying and PETA and others hope that by spreading awareness of this process, caring consumers will not give their dollars to these companies. McDonalds is just one of them.
I have noticed that most of the folks engaging in this dispute, in the media and online, fall into one of two categories:I do, however, know lots of reasonable veggies/vegans, so I don't think it's the lack of meat that turns the rabbid ones into lunatics.
No flame here. Just wanted to tell you that many children DO know. Many children see animals like chickens, deer and cows as food, not pets. In fact, many children hunt. Mine do......So flame away, but I bet you if all these children knew what happened to these animals they are eating, they would want to become vegetarians, too.
The only thing PETA hopes is that we will talk about them, give them money, and have NO impact on animals at all, ever, period. No pets, no shelters, nothing. It's unrealistic.
This isn't the first time PETA has done something like this. They are famous for handing out coloring books showing slaughter houses and such. Assaulting people who choose to wear fur/leather. And while protesting can be done in a peaceful and non-violent way, PETA will always choose the opposite.

I mean seriously, why would you not be a member of PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS?!?!?!![]()
How do I say this in a non provocative manner? Lets just say they would like a certain form of testing banned which would in turn, mean testing on humans, which would, in turn endanger human life either directly or indirectly through impeding the research and development of certain pharmacological agents.
