Yet another Mission:Space Question

DH has been looking for any legitimate excuse he can come up with to not ride this with me and the kids on our Christmas trip, now he thinks he has it. He managed to crack a rib. It should take 6-8 weeks to heal.

While he was told to avoid the obvious harness type thrill rides (which he wouldn't ride anyway), we aren't sure where M:S falls.

So, I turn to you, the experts.......... Can he ride with us, or should he opt out? The rib in question is in the upper ribcage area if this makes a difference.

I don't know, maybe he should sit this one out. There is pressure against you while riding , might not feel too good with a broken rib.

I wouldn't ride it if I were him. You're in pretty tight quarters, and I'm not sure whether it would be uncomfortable or not. Plus the G-forces might be a bit of a problem.

I would say he's going to have to wait and see. He's got 4 weeks to heal. Broken ribs are most painful when they're fresh and the 2 ends of the rib are mobile. Once they begin to heal and don't move against each other anymore, the pain diminishes significantly. That should be the case by 4 weeks out from the injury, but everyone heals differently. When the time comes, if it still hurts to push on, take deep breaths, etc., then he may want to sit out.

The only intense part is the launch when you do feel a fair amount of pressure on your chest and body. The entire ride lasts about 4 minutes. The launch sequence is probably less than 30 seconds. The rest of the ride wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for all the responses! I knew the experts here would come through. I hadn't even thought about the pressure from the launch. It might just have to be me and the kids on M:S.

Hopefully he will heal up quickly between now and December 20, or he might have to miss out on several of the rides he enjoys.
