So how much background is necessary for this film?
Watched the first Predator... but then kind of fell out of interest in the franchise.
Meaning to do Prey, but have not got around to it.
Will just understanding the basic premise of what the Predators do be enough? Or is there an important film I am missing
that is kind of what I thought, that pretty much all of the Predators are just individuals of the same species that seem to exist to hunt other aliens without really any other connections between the various movies.I haven't seen it, but it seems to be set on a different planet in a differnt time, so I doubt any prior knowledge is too necessary. Prey was really good, but takes place in18th century America, so I doubt it ties in. Knowing that the PRedator species are hunters the look for the strongest possible challenge is probably enough.

I am current on the Alien movies and latest streaming series Earth so I am familiar with Weyalnd/Yutani which I think is the other pertinent background
Monster on monster/android gore, A-OK. Eliminating humans in graphic manner and language, not so much. Given the context of the film makes sense it gets dropped to PG-13.I was inspired to re-watch some Predator movies (one will be for the first time). Since I have Hulu now they are easily accessible. I don't think I have seen "Predators" since it first came out and I have never watched "The Predator" though I hear it's bad - I'm willing to find out though! I can't watch that animated one because it uses that stupid trend of animating on the twos - I just can't support that, nuh-uh!
I do want to see Badlands. I was surprised to learn that it is rated PG-13, but only because there is only bright-green Predator or other non-human blood shown - I never knew that made a difference!

Predators is a fun one, nice reboot of the franchise post the AvP camp.
The Predator is so bad and sadly the highest grossing of the franchise, but hey who says bad movies can’t make some $$.
