DW and kids want me to request APLAPLA rotation, since their favorite restaurant is Animators and this gives them 3 dinners there. I would prefer PLAPLAP, since that puts us in Lumiere's on a formal night and in PC on tropical night and farewell. We're on the western 7 day.

Any suggestions/comments?

Thanks,

P.S. Planning to do Palos on either Sun. or Wed.

Hey Beano! We requested PLA, for the same reasons you said. I want to be in Lumiere's on Formal night.
But, the plus of not being there is you can be casual more. Just a thought. If you start in Lumiere's, it is casual night.
Just a thought.
I still vote for your way!

i have to agree with your family....
i'd go with 3 AP dinners (my kids also love AP best)....
as for palos, i think i'd go for brunch myself...
for two reasons....to enjoy the view during the day and so that i wouldn't miss dinner with the kids...i'm kind of attached at the hip to my kids (ok...so they're 15 and 18.....but we're still attached)...
but then again, i've never eaten at palos (since only dinner is available on the wonder) so i don't really know what i'm missing...

Ummmm, I hate to throw a wrench in the works but the PLAPLAP rotation would put you in AP on the Formal nights and Lumiere's on Mexicali (tropical) night.
Because it would work like this:
Sat. - embark / casual / Parrot
Sun. - Key West / regular / Lumiere's
Mon. - At Sea / Formal / Animator's
Tues. - Grand Cayman / regular / Parrot
Wed. - Cozumel / Mexicali.../ Lumiere's
Thurs. - At Sea / Formal / Animator's
Fri. - Castaway / special menu / Parrot.

The formal nights are always on the "At Sea" days.
So, to accomplish getting the resaturants you want on the nights you want, you would want to request APLAPLA. I hope this helps

Diva - I think you're right! :)

I guess I was thinkng in an "eastern itinerary" state of mind...

But looking at the way you mapped it out, that works for us! We have both formal nights in AP, farewell night in PC, and we can do dinner in Palo's on Wed. if we don't mind missing the Mexicali menu. I LOVE mexican food, but I have to say that looking at the mexicali menu, I wasn't impressed... This could be our best bet!

Thanks Diva

Beano....we were just on the 8/3 Western and I had requested APL for our rotation before we left.

I wanted this rotation on the Western for your same reasons and it worked out fine!!! DCL kept telling me this was the kiddie rotation but we did not find an unusual amout of kids. We did have late seating and it was great.

We had our two formal night in Lumiere's, Mexicali night in PC and we did Palo brunch on Monday at 10:30 am (sea day). Three nights dinners and debarkatation breakfast were in Animators Palate.

Can you request which rotation for dining that you would like on the 3 day cruise? If so, how do you go about requesting this? Do you just do this with your travel agent?

I thought I remembered from my Eastern 7 day cruise that they only did the "room color show/change" for the first time we ate at AP during the week, is this still true? We are going on Western and want to eat at Palo's, but don't want to miss the AP "show".....

Rotation Dining on the Western is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. So you'll get the "light show" when you hit AP on one of those nights.

More questions about dining western- can you do LAPLPAL dining rotation? I think that might be best since I dont think Ill make it back on board in Key West and also in Cozumel. Or is there time to do dinner and leave the ship again. Also what is the least expensive way to drink onboard- any suggestions? Thanks.... leaving in a week.......:Pinkbounc

I thought the formal night was on Sunday night (we're on the 7-day eastern) For that matter, can anyone tell me what the schedule is for Formal night...Chef's series dinner, It's a small world dinner and Magicalifragilistic? I too, am trying to figure out when to go to Palos.

My thought was to have appetizers on Formal night in the dining room (since we have the early seating, that way we can still eat with the kids and my parents) and then head over to Palos later that evening.

Thanks!

Ok, if I'm following these postings properly, then formal night is the first sea night. It is different between the Western & Eastern because Sunday is a sea day on the Eastern itinerary and Key West port on the Western.

Deb

Correct, on the Eastern Formal Nights are Sunday, Thursday

On the Western, Formal nights are Monday, Thursday
