Bridge to Terabithia, on her birthday since it opens the day before. Do you think she'll mind that we're going for a surprise 6 day trip to Disneyland instead??? :jumping1:

Agree to the movie! It'll keep her off the track of your awesome surprise, and there is a movie theater in DTD!!!!

You can make both dreams come true! Remember there is an AMC theatre in DTD!
I can hear it now "Sure dear, we're going to take you to the movies on your birthday at DTD .. right after we spend the day at Disneyland!!"

Thanks for the reminder! We may just do that as an afternoon break on one of the days. Our first day (her birthday) my parents are meeting us, so I don't want to take a couple hours out since its the only day they'll be there.

This time, 4 weeks from now we should be on Supershuttle on our way to DL!!

Hooray! She will be so excited, how fun to make it a surprise! Yes I would also tell her you could do the movie, then just give her the choice while you are there.

I know when I was a kid, I never would have given up park time and picked something that I could do at home, but atleast the theater is there if she really wants to go!!

Are you driving or flying to DL? I love surprises and If it were me I would say we are headed to the movie and already have the car packed so she can't see. Then I would start driving to DL or the airport either one and when she figures out you aren't going to a movie by the length of the car ride or the route you can spring it on her then. Tell her she can do the movie when she gets home or if she really wants to still go DTD is an option.

One time for a surprise trip to DL I told the kids we were going to the DR to get shots. They were freaking out crying and stuff. I kinda felt guilty but then we headed out of town and my daughter saw the buildings were gone and we were in the desert and she got suspicious. It took her an hour out of town to figure it out. :rotfl: She said I was a mean mommy to trick them but I pointed out that a mean mommy wouldn't be taking them to DL at all now would she????

That's so funny, you mean old mommy! I haven't surprised the kids really yet. I usually don't tell them we are going till a day or two before just because I don't want them upset if something comes up and we can't go. But I think I will try to surprise them when we eventually go to WDW! They will be old enough by then to kinda "get" the surprise.

I've already decided that the first time we go to WDW (hopefully within a year) with the kids that it will be a surprise. I'm going to tell them we are going to go to Kansas City on the plane. Hopefully they will be too busy to playing their leapster games to hear them announce Orlando. Dd6 might be old enough to catch it. I plan on keeping up the surprise as long as I can at least til we pass under the big sign!!!!

Well, we are flying for the first time. My in-laws live in San Diego, so when we wake them up at 5am we are going to tell the kids we are going to see them, since they couldn't come up for her birthday. They won't know about Disneyland, hopefully until the shuttle pulls into the Paradise Pier parking lot. Both sets of Grandparents are meeting us there. So we won't be lying that we are going to see Grandma and Grandpa, we'll just letting them believe that we mean at their house instead of Disneyland. My daughter has always wanted to fly, so she can think that is the big surprise.

Amy, that sounds like an awesome plan! she will be so excited!!!

Let's see...

Disneyland AND a plane ride...
or
a movie...

Oh yeah, Amy--she's gonna be SOOOO bummed out! :rotfl:

Trust me...

I remember reading Bridge to Terabithia back in the "day."

Not a fun story... Mr. Voice and the Movie Trailer make it seem fun, but really:

Everything occurs in their imagination, and the girl ends up dying in real life

So, yeah... not fun... Especially for the younger crowd...

Disneyland is like 100% better for her than that movie...
