Yesteday's Oprah- Jackson children

I guess I was just shocked that Katerine would say something like that on TV. Yes, it is true and that's why the community has so many angry, violent, quick tempered children who turn into spiteful, hurt, angry adult. It was how she presented the topic that shocked me. Sorta "that's, just the way it IS" way.. really sad.

As for the biological I don't know whether Michael is the father of the older two. Mixed race children are a very different group of people physically. My daughter is VERY light. She tans beautifully in the summer thank God! She looks (eyes and mouth shape) just like me but her complexion is a few shades darker than her dad. When she was born she looked like she was a completely white baby. She has darkened up.

I too LOVED the JK interview mainly because JK kept turning question back on Oprah. I found JK humble and sincere. It made me love her even more.

I really wanted Oprah to follow up w/ Joe by pointing out the obvious, his methods did not in fact keep his kid away from drugs, sadly very far from it.

Great point and proof of how Oprah SUCKS at interviewing. Shes is no better than Mario Lopez. HAHA I know I sound like a hater. Oprah has changed.

Yeah, but she might not really know that. Black people's disciplining is all she knows (at least at that point).

True, but I just don't see disciplining children in terms of race, I see it more as "this is how some parents raise their kids" as opposed to "this is how black, white, latino, asians raise their kids". To me there is no need to even mention one's race when talking about it.

I saw a People article about a year ago of Prince swimming in a pool. He had signs of Michael's skin disease on his upper arm. So I'm not 100% sure he's not Michael's child. IMO its really none of my business. Regardless, Michael ADORED those children. They were loved and cared for. That's all that matters to me.

I am by no means an MJ fan, but who really cares whether or not he is any of his kid's biological father. He raised them, they are his, they know this, why does this continue to be an issue? Even if they weren't his kids, alot of people, celebs and normal people, use surrogates, adopt, or other means to have kids as their own, no matter how these kids came to be MJ's, he is their father, period.

I caught a glimpse of his upper arms during the interview when he put his hands behind his head and you could clearly see the white splotches. If anyone has it taped, go back and look. Paris is the one that intrigues me most because of her piercing blue eyes. I don't see Michael's traits in her at all. As a pp said, he is no less those children's father if he is not their biological father.

I thought Katherine came accross as extremely honest and more coherent than I thought she would be. Joe is just a complete freak. Proffessional coat tail rider.

BTW, Oprah rocks and always will.

I just watched the episode, Michael's kids are precious, especially Paris. Beautiful girl who loved her daddy tremendously, so really, does it really matter if MJ is her bio dad? In every way that counts, he was their father. And that's what should count.

Also, my cousin and her hubby had a son 14 years ago. The child came out looking just like them with brown eyes. 13 years later they had another son, he was born looking just like his older brother, with piercing blue eyes. Can't explain it.

:confused3:confused3:confused3

She was being honest.

Many black people DID raise their children that way. I'm 42, I don't know anyone that I grew up with that wasn't spanked with a belt.

My next door neighbors/best friend growing up, you'd often hear their mom yelling at them when they did something wrong. It didn't help that they left their front and side doors open, so the yelling was amplified. Usually the yelling/cursing would be followed by "Go get me a switch" in which the kids has to go outside to the bushes that divided their yard and my yard and pick a limb from the bushes and bring it back....and it better not be a little skinny one either.

It was quite common to hear that when I was growing up.

Personally I don't care but I do think that at some point in time, Michael did try to assert that the was their biological father. I think he ended up backing of the first two but not the last one. I think if you are going to be famous and then make claims that you in fact produced the children, you might want to prepare to be challenged when they are the very opposite of anything that could come from your gene pool.

The Jackson family probably knows the truth regarding paternity. But that's their private business.

That's the truth!

Remember when Michael was having the first two kids--marrying that woman, making the claim he was their bio father? He started the "gossip" and wondering. I give him credit that when he had blanket he kept it a very private matter.

I saw that too. I think it's a Mongolian spot. It's very common in African American children. They are mainly on the bum. Mine is actually on my arm.

I stopped watching Oprah years ago - right around the time she forgot about the people who helped her get where she is today.. (Pretty much how I feel about Dr. Phil as well..)

Not meant to offend anyone who does watch and/or enjoy her.. Just my opinion..:goodvibes

So then it makes sense that you posted on a thread with OPRAH in the title. :confused3

I saw a piece of it on the Today Show this morning. Those kids are so well spoken and so normal considering how they were raised. Paris looks like she could be a runway model.

Like my Mama always said, "You can't tell the price of pork chops by lookin' up a pig's 's rear end.

I'm confused by your statement? How do you think they were raised? They had and still do have the best possible privileges and clearly they had a father who loved them and tried to protect them from a world that would judge them and ridicule them because of who he was.

Paris is quite striking and seemed to be Daddy's girl.

Just because they have a lot of money and privilege doesn't mean they were raised in a great environment. Like him or hate him you have to admit that MJ had a lot of problems - drugs being a huge one- and he was not the most mentally stable person. Being in that environment - no matter how much you are loved- is going to have an effect on you.

As for the statement by Katherine-
I didn't watch the show but I see both sides of it based on what was written on this thread. She is surrounded by a "black" environment most likely. It is all she really knows. I doubt she grew up with tons of white families as close friends. So she is using her point of reference. However, if a white person had made a statement like "we all know that is how white people raise their kids" there would be a huge scandal about it even though it would be the same thing. I personally find it a little offensive that she felt that raising children was a race issue but I also understand that different ethnicities have different cultures and I think that is just what she was trying to illustrate. YMMV.

I loved MJ, I grew up with him. I remember watching interviews where he said he always wanted to go to school. i guess that stuck with me which is why I find it surprising that people find it surprising that his kids are intelligent and well spoken. Has nothing to do really with money but the fact that their father wanted the best for them. Drug addict or not he wanted the best for them and you can see that in how the reflect and speak about him.

At least for me, my concern was always the way the children's faces were covered, didn't seem to have any outside playmates or friends and were always kept on lockdown (again, how it seemed). I can't imagine how you have a normal upbringing when the only kids you play with are your cousins. There didn't seem to be any interaction with the outside world. However, they do seem to be very well-behaved, articulate, caring kids. Seems, at least with them, MJ has broken the chain of parenting that his dad taught him. :thumbsup2
