YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

I understand your "breakup". My trip with Elizabeth our meltdown was right before Fantasmic. Needless to say we were both in our happy place when the show started. Glad it only lasted a little while and you were able to enjoy some alone time. Hope Em was able to do the same.

I'm new-ish to the Disboards, and really new to looking at TRs. Your TR was at the top of the boards a short while back, and is by far the best TR yet! (Seriously!) I haven't caught up all the way through your whole TR yet, but I'm getting there! :)

From the part of your TR that I have gotten through, you and Em both seem like such down-to-earth people! I'm sure you guys have loads of fun on your trips!

Em seems like such a sweet girl! Does she know what she wants to do after high school? I could totally see her being a preschool or elementary school teacher!

Pretty pics of the castle and sky.
Nice video of the kiss goodnight.
The 24 hour event looked like fun.
Love seeing Barb when we go.
Nice pics with Chip n Dale.
MMM, PB Cookies or better is the peanut butter cups.
I am caught up again.

Glad to hear the breakup didn't last very long (and I've definitely seen bigger drama in WDW). Also, I love the 'pre-Mine Train open' picture. That feels like so long ago now! With the Mine Train open, it's hard to believe that the next major expansion in a domestic Disney park is Avatar, which is still 3 years away. :worried: At least that'll make it easier for me to stay away from the parks once my pass expires (but the resorts and DTD are still fair game). ::yes::

Now that I hold a Universal annual pass, I'm surprised by how invested I am in the new Harry Potter expansion. It should be opening to guests sometime this month, but (much like Disney with the Mine Train) Universal has kept the official date under wraps. If you have any interest at all in Harry Potter, Diagon Alley might actually justify a day trip to the 'dark side'. ;)

Hi Brenda
We are back in the sunny UK after a wonderful trip
Just catching up on everyone's TRs, it's helping with the post trip blues :-(
You got some great character pics. My faves are the Chipmunk sandwich :-)
Glad you and Em made up quickly. Sometimes me and Philip need a vacation time out and it usually entails me heading off for a margarita ;-)

Once again, I've been terrible about keeping up! I just read through like 6 days and I'm not even sure where to start, but all those gorgeous sunsets certainly seem to stick out!

I had a good laugh at the bit where Mousekeeping really made sure you had plennnnty of soap! Is the soap different between levels of resorts and/or between what type of room you get? Do you find what they give you to go pretty easy on your hair? I'd love to not have to pack any of that kind of thing on my next trip!

Brenda,
Been missing you. All caught up an no more updates? Can't wait for the next trip reports to start.:surfweb:

I know exactly what you mean.

I call this one "One shampoo bottle short of an episode of Disney Hoarders"

.

That's awesome Dee! Those extras don't go to waste.

Well, your morning at MK got off to an interesting start.

That's too bad that you and Em had a tiny bit of moodiness- I'm gonna blame the hungries and lack of sugar on that one, so your choice of a cookie for breakfast was the perfect remedy.

Glad your "breakup" was short-lived!

Too funny that your update covered two memorable encounters with Photopass photographers. I can't tell you how much I love that you had a great interaction with Keith and commemorated your time together with a picture.

Great meet with the FGM- love the way your cute dress coordinated with hers.

You met with my favorite characters, Chip & Dale! Sounds like that was a lot of fun.

Some nice pictures from Peter Pan and Pirates, two dark & challenging subjects!

An hour time out for 15 days together wasn't too bad. We only had to apologize for being moody at least no harsh words were spoken.

I was so glad that the FGM was out and about during EMH. I didn't notice that we coordinated, I'm glad I wasn't the one wearing that robe and gloves though, it was already a warm one.

I didn't know you were a Munks fan! They are a couple rascals.

I have three grown daughters. We've had plenty of those moments where you know you need a little break from each other. Glad it was over quickly.

I'm 53 and remember The Darlings. I never made the connection with Country Bear Jamboree, but you're right! CBJ is one of my favorite classic attractions! I've gone by myself a few times because my family does not share the love.

An oatmeal raisin cookie is a perfect breakfast!

With three daughters I would think there would have been a least a moment or two of those during the teen years.

I watch the Andy Griffith Show on TVland every so often. For some reason the twangy music reminds me of them. I like the Country Bear gal that sings 'Every guy that turns me on turns me down.'

I'm glad you don't judge my breakfast choice!!

The Darlings and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie's for breakfast! You are my kind of woman. I am going to schedule "Break Up" times in my next trip-just so they don't happen. I work as an RN (so three of us say cookies are an okay breakfast.) and care for Mom with Alzhiemers so I am going to schedule some time for me to roam the parks when Mom is safe with Morgan for sainity's sake.

Ha ha! Proactive timeouts, works better than waiting for the inevitable.

Oh, bless you for what you do and taking care of your mom.

Hey, everyone needs a break now and then! The trick is to recognize it before things get ugly

Sounds like the morning was still going well. FGM is so sweet! And an oatmeal cookie sounds just about right for breakfast to me!

Yep, we recognized the early signs of the uglies! At least we can make light of our breakup.

I'm back and I'm caught up. Great pictures with the famous Main Street CM!

I can't imagine you and Em having a "moment", but going separate ways was a good idea.

Love all of the photos.

Welcome back and glad to see you caught up! Although rare, we've had a moment or two... one just happened to be that morning.

Hmm, I wonder when I'll be able to have a little time to myself after a disagreement in MK? I guess not for a while since DD is only 2! Haha. But I've certainly wanted to walk away from a tantrum or 2.

Anyway, looks like you got to meet some great characters that morning.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Ha ha! If only I had that option with those terrible twos when my kids were little.... Yeah, I think you'll have to wait a few years to take your own time-out.

Sorry about your little spat that morning, but glad it didn't last long! I think it gets like that for everyone though. Glad you kept it real with us!

How funny that the photographer snagged a guest to take a pic of the two of you!

Sounds like they need a new CM over at New Fantasyland. Especially with your cute little comment about the ladies. Sheesh!

I totally believe in cookies for breakfast. I mean, you practically just had baked oatmeal with raisins right? That's how I look at it

I'm not sure about the fairy but I do know there is one with an attitude. It's probably her. She looks like she's good at giving the 'tude!

Thanks Lesha! At least it wasn't the throw down fight like we saw at BB!

Exactly! That cookie was practically the breakfast of champions - champions that don't compete for anything!

I'd like to think that it was a teachable moment for that CM guy! Actually, he just didn't have much to say and me being well, me... wanted more information. I just inserted my version of the character experience into it.

Whew! Good to know that there is a fairy that I'd probably have to take a time-out from as well.

I think in a 14 day trip, you & Em are allowed to have an "I'm annoyed with you right now!" moment! It's only normal. :goodvibes I'm glad it didn't last long though and that y'all had such a great morning with what looks to be some beautiful weather!

Thank you!! I agree!! It was a great last day so this little blip was a brief detour for our morning.

Em's the rational one between us so once I stopped kicking and screaming on the ground all was well. :rotfl2: Glad your melt down moment with your DD was short lived as well...:)

I'm new-ish to the Disboards, and really new to looking at TRs. Your TR was at the top of the boards a short while back, and is by far the best TR yet! (Seriously!) I haven't caught up all the way through your whole TR yet, but I'm getting there! :)

Hi there and welcome RoyalPrincess!! Thank you for joining and glad to have you on the DISboards! Thanks for the kind compliment. :goodvibes

Em's everyone's friend so she could be a diplomat! She would make a great teacher since she loves kids.

Pretty pics of the castle and sky.
Nice video of the kiss goodnight.
The 24 hour event looked like fun.

I am caught up again.

Hey there Scott! Thanks, my picture aren't quite as good as yours but I'll take the compliment.

If I'd been 20 years younger I may have stayed longer for that 24 hr party!

Thanks for getting caught up!

Glad to hear the breakup didn't last very long (and I've definitely seen bigger drama in WDW). Also, I love the 'pre-Mine Train open' picture. That feels like so long ago now! At least we're not THAT family.... like the one at BB! :rotfl:

I have two more TRs that are in the queue for pre-mine train open. By the time I get around to posting anything it will be so outdated! They did the media event while we were there in April but since they delayed the GP open we missed it. Oh well... there's always the next Disney trip..... Which for you will be when? With that US AP you've turned on us! Granted you can still tour resorts and go to DTD but won't that just rub it in a little more? :rolleyes1

My trip to the Dark Side will happen when our FL dates line up and I realize I can't see Mr. DDW in the Disney parks. Oh the pressure....

Glad to see you around more recently. Take care my friend! :)

Welcome back Linda! How was the cruise?

Thanks, those chipmunks are characters - literally! ;)

A margarita fixes everything right? More than one of those and everyone would be my friend. popcorn::

Hi there Maddie! No worries about keeping up.. I'm not getting any gold stars for my efforts with so many subscriptions.

That shampoo and soap pile is what happens when you ask nicely! We weren't short on any products the rest of the trip - which was only another full day. And don't think I left those behind. :rotfl2:

I've not seen any changes in the toiletries they provide in the last couple years I believe. Obviously a big difference from the "spa" products they put in the suites and the DS. ;) I never pack shampoo and conditioner but then again I'm not picky and I use cheap products so it works for me.

Brenda,
Been missing you. All caught up an no more updates? Can't wait for the next trip reports to start.:surfweb:

Come up soon... if work wouldn't interfere with my DISing we'd be much farther along with this thing. ;)

Thursday August 29, 2013: Day 14, Part 4

Next door to fairy world is the Aloha Isle and I figured now was as good a time as any to try one of those infamous Dole Whips. Another item that should have made my Must Do list! I seriously had trouble deciding between a float or just soft serve. Not being a big ice-cream fan I wasn’t so sure about this treat. I changed my mind about 3 times before finally deciding on a pineapple float. Oh, now they wanted to know what flavor of soft serve? Ahhh vanilla. I didn’t want to fail in making my choice because what if I chose the wrong one and didn’t like it? It could potentially be the end of my Dole Whip adventures.

I should have taken a photo while it was sitting there since it was a blazing hot day because it melted faster than I could walk to get to a shady spot. We ended up parking it over by Casey’s Corner at a little high top table.

Melty Photo:
DSCN2269.jpg

Ok, so what did I think? I LOVED it. Em tried it and didn’t care for it at all. I didn’t really want the entire thing but before I knew it... oh wait a show is starting.

I was distracted during my consumption since the Dream Along with Mickey stage show was in progress at the castle. I wanted to get a perfectly timed photo of the pop of fireworks at the end. I hadn’t realized how long the show is since we’ve never really parked it to watch the entire show. They play this what like 22 times a day so it’s not hard to miss.

I walked over to the photopass photographer by Crystal Palace and asked him how long before the finale. He looked at my Dole Whip and said you should be able to finish that before the end! I must have looked like a dole whip crazed woman. He said 6 more minutes and I’d be good. Ok then. When I came back said 6 minutes later he counted me down to the finale. Nailed it.

DSCN2273.jpg
I thanked him and marked that success off my list.

Empty Dole Whip:
DSCN2278.jpg

I couldn’t stop myself. I have serious pineapple Dole Whip love.

We decided to head to Epcot or Hollywood Studios but walking down Main Street Em decided that she wanted to see if she could do a walk in for a haircut at the Harmony Barber shop. We ran into Hildegard on the way so we smiled and posed.

DSCN2287.jpg

DSCN2288.jpg

And then we saw Bea walk up. She’s such a sweet lady.
DSCN2289.jpg

DSCN2290.jpg

We put Em’s name on the waiting list for a haircut but it could have been anywhere from a 30-45 minute wait so we decided to skip it and head over to Hollywood Studios.

DSCN2295.jpg
We had already cancelled our lunch reservation at San Angel Inn earlier in the trip when we booked the cruise so we decided to wait and see what mood we were in as far as food a bit later.

We took the monorail to the TTC and then decided that we would play at the Studios for awhile which meant that we took a bus to DHS. According to my photo on the bus it was 12:50 when we left.

DSCN2300.jpg

My first order of business inside DHS was to pose with Bo. It seemed to mean more to me than him. I could be reading him all wrong but he always seems to have the same look on his face.

DSCN2302.jpg

We posed for a few photos on Hollywood Blvd. because it’s our thing.

DSCN2305.jpg

This photo is simply evidence that people will do silly things when told.
Photo0301FourBySix-1.jpg
The streetmosphere performers or better known as Citizens of Hollywood were out. We watched the cop dude (Officer William Club) and one of the gals (Paige Turner) having a hilarious exchange about cell phones. She asked if she could borrow my phone which I gladly offered. But then she showed me hers which was this huge contraption inside the briefcase. We took a few photos and then moved on down the street.

DSCN2310.jpg

Whoa! Who is that?? Is that Dorma Nesmond? It was. And Studio Mogul, Shelby Mayer!! Two awesome performers together.

We posed for a few photos with them all the while dying of laughter from their antics. Shelby noticed my big ole’ fake ring on my finger and said, “My God! What studio has you under contract?” When I complimented him on his rings he said that he had one for each failed marriage. He was wearing 6 or 7 rings! His slogan was “Who needs talent?” “I’ve got money.”

DSCN2314.jpg

DSCN2315.jpg

Dorma had so many one-liners but my favorite was “marriage is grand but divorce is one hundred grand!” They were non-stop laughter.

When we posed with them in the little red car Shelby drove off while I was sitting there. I’d been starlet-napped! Em didn’t panic she did what we’d trained her to do… she took photos!

DSCN2319.jpg

DSCN2320.jpg

DSCN2321.jpg

Shelby drove me around the plaza in front of the hat and announced that park guests needed to make way for the newest star of Hollywood Studios. I played along and did my best princess wave. Hey, it you are going to be a one-woman parade you may as well be friendly to the guests. He told me he was going to keep me because he loved my hair color. Such shallowness!
After he returned me he handed me his business card. I thanked him and Dorma and said they were awesome! He told Em that I smelled good and that not everyone’s mom is a looker. Ever playing the Studio Mogul part I tell ya!

DSCN2318.jpg

Here’s some interesting intel on these two from centralstudios website.

Shelby Mayer
Occupation: Studios Mogul
Slogan: "Who needs talent, I've got MONEY!"
Originally from: Cheltenham, United Kingdom
Birthday: March 25 (All day)
Shelby Mayer is the sort of Hollywood movie tycoon that has been "in the business" for years and has produced many major Hollywood films. He's always hard at work trying to make the next big Hollywood film and for him, money is not an issue. He flagrantly shows off his wealth from his enormous rings on his fingers to the bills of money coming out of the pockets of his 3 piece suit. Shelby is quintessentially the living embodiment of the glitz of Hollywood.
Citing: http://www.studioscentral.com/citizens-of-hollywood

Dorma NesmondOccupation: Hollywood Star
Slogan: "I'm kind of like Norma Desmond, but alive and better"
Originally from: Hollywood
Birthday: missing
"The Divine Dorma Nesmond" is a fading Hollywood starlet who is best known for her excessive white makeup on her face. Dorma is always one to look for the kidness of strangers, particularly male strangers, and she will be quick to remind you of her accolades.

We hadn't even made it to the end of Hollywood Blvd and we're already having a ton of fun!

Oh my goodness it sounds like you had an absolute riot in DHS and well done for teaching Em to take photos :rotfl:

You guys always have the best time at HS! I have never seen any of the performers you guys run into, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them this summer!
If only I could train Pete to take photos like Em

Yes, ordering your first Dole Whip is serious business. But YAY a convert!!!!! Welcome to the club (finally). :cheer2:

Hmmm, is it sad that I can probably hit the firework pops now in my sleep? Pretty awesome help from the PP photog and I really like the results!

Nope I disagree. I have seen Bo with an expression of longing and sadness, so your Bo photos are completely genuine!!!

AHHHHHHHHH... OMG..... YOU GOT TO DRIVE IN THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear, these treats only happen to you. You are such royalty. :)

Oh my gosh such a fun update!

I've never really paid much attention to the street performers in DHS before, but now that you say how amazing they are, i'm going to have to make time for them in January! They sound like such a hoot and look so interactive. Especially one of them taking you away in his cart :rotfl:

DSCN2321.jpg
[/CENTER]

That little girl looks seriously jealous that you are getting a ride in that car!

Yay for a Dole whip, even though it was with vanilla ice cream! :thumbsup2

Love that you got a perfectly timed picture of the fireworks in front of the castle. I always want to do that but my timing is always off. It either happens before I get my camera out or I just totally miss it altogether.

Yup - Good old Bo always has that same expression. Men!

Fun update!

I just love those street performers. They are so hysterical. Eveie got a ticket from Officer Les Manly once. Nearly died laughing. Good times!
:)

I have not relly stopped long enough on Main St or Hollywood Blvd to pay attention to the street performrs or main steet vehilces. That is one of the Goals on this trip is to slow down and really observed. And of course ride Seven Dwarfs Mine train ride.

Loved your update!

Dole Whip >>> School Bread. Or perhaps, Dole Whip schools School Bread.

Thank you for doing your research and going to great lengths to get that Dream Along with Mickey finale!

What a lot of fun you had with the characters of Main Street and Dorma and Shelby at HS. Sweet ride in a luxury golf cart with Shelby! Kudos to Em for capturing the moments.

:goodvibes

How lucky that you were able to ride down Hollywood Blvd in style! My oldest daughter has the same shade of red hair as you and is always getting compliments. I tell her that blondes and brunettes are a dime a dozen. You redheads are unique!

The Citizens of Hollywood make HS for me. So entertaining!

Next time, try the pineapple soft serve with the pineapple juice instead of ice cream. It's very good.
