Yes, I do still love my kids even if I don't buy their Spring school pictures

well when my DD brought hers home, I had just paid almost $200 for dance recital pix.....much better quality than school pix. I shoved her spring school pix in the backpack too. Never thought I was a neglectful mom, but I guess I am.:lmao:

My kids don't get them taken. Seriously, between the fall pictures, baseball pictures, soccer pictures, flag football pictures, and softball pictures, I am pictured out! Not to mention that the spring pictures have silly backgrounds, like a beach or waterfall - how tacky.

I so hate school pictures. I never get a good picture of both kids the same year. Do I buy the pictures yes but here is why. DD is high functioning autistic and she feel left out if she doesn't get a package of pictures in the fall. As for the spring pictures, which by the way why do they have them? And why do they just send them home??? The bad part of that is DD is so happy to have pictures that she starts cutting them up and passing them out. Weather I want to buy them or not!! So I have to buy them. UGH

Come on down!! I can hook you up with that retro look!!! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Yeah baby, I just have to throw on my acid wash jeans and tease up my hair nice and big and i'll be right over!! :lmao:

We don't make money just from having them photographed- we get a commission on only the ones that buy them.

Along with the spring pictures the 5th graders also get a full cap and gown picture for their graduation taken. I always buy the spring ones because I like them so much better than the fall ones. They are usually posed on a fence or by a tree rather than the fall ones with the ugle laser or blue background.

Hey now, don't go knocking the laser beam background, its coming back, didn't you see BernanrdnadMissBianca's post :lmao:

I wonder why the PTO treasurer (from another school) told me that? Is it possible that the photo companies do things differently for different schools.

We get ours taken not once, not twice but yes THREE times a year in school... and I am a sucker for the kids pics so I have bought all the packages X 3.. the spring pics were the most expensive.. thankfully they have a "family plan" (lord knows I need it) and the total for all 3 packages was a cheap 67$ I am such a sucker.. do you know how many pics I could have got at sears for that price? fall pics, santa pics, and spring pics.. I need a job just to pay for all these school pcis!

I'm a really bad mom - I don't buy school pictures at all! I have a dSLR and take my own special first day of school shots, both my school-aged kids play spring and fall sports so we have two sets of sports pictures of each year, and we have professional Christmas pictures done with all 3 kids.

Fall school pictures always end up looking a little like mug shots to me anyway. The spring ones are a little better but still kind of cheesy, and I just can't justify paying for a 4th set of "professional" pictures that don't even look as good as the ones I take myself. So I don't order school pictures, just a yearbook for each kid so they can have the fun of getting classmate autographs and all that stuff.

I don't even buy the fall pics anymore. My son used to make funny faces in them (on purpose :rolleyes2) and my DD is a notorious blinker. I used to buy just the class pic but they even raised that to a ridiculous price and now they have yearbooks so that's all I buy.

We bought DD's pictures last year at school. She had just turned 1 and we thought it would be nice for our immediate families to have them as a momento. This year, she's at a new school and the package offered here has less pics for the same price that we paid last year at her old school and to order extras of the sizes we'd need, would cost way too much, so we won't be buying the school pics this year.

I never buy the Spring pictures. This year, my blone haired, blue-eyed, green-shirted son came home with photos of his lovely BROWN hair, ??? eyes, and BROWN shirt. :confused3

They're like that EVERY Spring. It's ridiculous. My kids crack up at the Spring pics. Their feelings are in no way hurt that I don't buy them ... especially at the INSANE price they ask for them, I might add.

They did that to my dd last year, she has blond hair and she came home with her pics and she had brown hair. It was the only time I ever bought the Spring ones  She really liked it brown and since I wasn't going to let her color it, this was the next best thing :)

Quick question - if you don't by the fall pictures, do the kids have a picture in the yearbook? Thanks:goodvibes

I know for us they do put the pic in the year book weather you buy it or not.

Oh geeze...the mom-erazzi got to you. I'm so sorry.

Mom-erazzi! :lmao:

Thank you so much!!! Now I understand why I have strived for perfection all of my life.. It's my mother's fault!! I'm 60 years old - and she only purchased one photo of me and my entire first grade class (in black and white, no less) throughout all of my school years..:sad1: It's no wonder that I've never been able to achieve that "perfection" - after being denied that reinforcement year after year after year..:sad2:

Shame on her!! As usual, "It's the mother's fault.." :headache:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

   Wow, that's brutal. ONE perfect picture that you were never able to live up to again, since no others were ever bought. That must have been severely damaging. :sad1:

:scared1: That's some major photoshopping of the background that would be needed to fix that.

Yes, someone needs to tell that woman that the 80 's called and wanted it's backdrop back.lol

In my school fall pictures have to be paid for in advance for the packages, but everyone gets their picture taken for the yearbook. They don't do a class picture at this time. The kids also must wear their uniform for these.

In the spring, everyone gets their picture taken and then they send home a letter saying if you would like to view them, sign and return the letter and then we send them home. These include the class picture, those stupid stickers and keychain/bookbag tags, and the kids can change clothing if they want for those. Class picture everyone must be in uniform for though. The package last year was $46 for the whole thing. I think the class picture alone was about $7. We didn't get ours back yet for this year.

I must be a really bad mom, because I didn't buy the fall ones either (they were taken, I just didn't send any money). DH is a photographer, and he can get better pics for way less money, and I'm cheap. The least expensive package was $31 through the school, and that didn't even have an 8x10.

The DS' school only does class pictures in the spring. I don't know if I'll buy those or not, it depends. DS9's class went to the zoo today, and if DH got a decent pic of all of them together (there are 8 in the class), I won't buy the school ones. We'll get one of DS6's class at Kindergarten graduation, they pose them after it's over on the stage for that very reason.

I hope this isn't the reason my boys might need therapy later......

Well, the teachers are judging you, that's for sure. We judge all parental love on things like how many school pictures are bought. :teacher: In fact, when the orders come in I make sure I say things like, "Why, Amy, your mommy is buying the biggest photo package of you! That means she loves you SOOOO much!" And, "Oh dear, Jacob, your mommy returned the photos and didn't buy any... I'm so sorry no one loves you enough to want a picture of you."

:rotfl:

You know, I'm pretty sure the kids don't even notice if pictures are bought or not. The bring things home, they bring them back to school, and I don't think kids bother to notice half the time what's going where. I know I didn't when I was a kid.

I think I have maybe 3 or 4 school pictures. Yearbook pics are more than enough for me to look at. I didn't even buy senior pictures, I just took the standard pose for the yearbook. And then I didn't even graduate from that school.

A friend of mine and her brother, have their every year school picture lining the stairwell down into the basement at their parent's house (one kid on each side). It's really sad, when she has all 13 pictures (k-12), and he has significantly less...

If my kid came home with a school picture of her in a uniform then I sure as heck wouldn't buy that! Who wants an 8x10 of their kid in a school uniform every year LOL.
