Day 2:
We woke up still in love with the Contemporary! The room
was really large! We got up and got ready for our breakfast
with Stitch @ Ohana’s! We took the monorail to the Poly, so
convenient btw! We were seated within a few minutes. We
had a fabulous breakfast. They did seam a little stingy with
the mickey waffles though! They gave us one at a time separate
from the platter meal. I don’t remember this from last year.
Hmmm. As we were eating our breakfast, they seated this
unfortunate family next to us. Unfortunate? Cuz, every time
a character came, we asked the dad if he would take our
picture!

We joked with him that they were going to
ask to move tables!

They were really good natured
about it. We offered to take their family photo but he declined.
Well, declined until the main man himself appeared. Yep, Mickey!
So, at least we did take their picture once…..to their 4 of us!
We took the monorail back to the Contemporary. We were
could get used to this! :goodvibe My DH was taking our golf
clubs to the car and while I was waiting for him and the bellman
to pick up our luggage to transfer to POFQ, I logged on the computer.
It was so cool to have a computer in our room! I checked in with
my trip report and checked my email real quick. We decided to
check-in at POFQ before we started our day to avoid the check-in
crowd. Of course, our room wasn’t ready but at least we had our
“work” done. We headed over to the Premium Outlet Mall. I just
love this mall! They have a great WDW merchandise outlet. I
also was planning on a visit to the Coach outlet as we both needed
new wallets. We lucked out and found us both wallets and also a
handbag for me!
We headed back to POFQ and called the number on the way to get
our room number. Our room was ready but our luggage wasn’t there
yet. We had lunch at Sassaaoula and were not impressed! We shared
a chicken wrap and it was soggy and tasteless. We ate as much as
we could and headed off to Disney’s Osprey Ridge to golf.
Here's a few photos of POFQ:
As expected, they paired us up with a single guy. He said he
was from Canada and his wife had just taken a lesson and didn’t
think she was up to playing yet (this is funny later). No biggie,
cool with us. Well, you’ll never believe how this story will turn out!
So, he and my DH, hit their first drive. My DH likes to play from
the tips (that means the farthest tees for you non golfers) but
the guy wanted to do the closest mans tees. Oh, DH conceded,
its best per the golf sheriff to play from the same tees we were
told. Ok, no biggie. Now, it’s my turn to drive, everything fine
so far. We notice he is very slow but perhaps he’s just warming
up yet. Well, I’m starting to pitch on the green and he interrupts
me and says, “That’s okay, take your time”. Well, I’m offended
cuz if I was a man, he wouldn’t talk to me like that! Now, I’m not
a LPGA golfer or anything but I am fairly good. I came in third
place on my league, I’m a board member at our local chapter of
EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) and a country club
member. So, anyway, while not great, I do know my way around
a golf course. I hang right not too far behind my DH on the course
and he didn’t say anything to him. Anyway, I let it go and blew
it off. So, as we golf on, long story short, he annoyed us more
and more. He would take 10 minutes each time to swing and
then diff the ball and start his long routine again. It was obvious
he was a brand new golfer and should not have been on the golf
course yet. Don’t get me wrong as a EWGA member, I play with
newbie’s and have a great time all the time.
But he was clearly no ready for golfing on a course yet, this was painful
and it was our vacation! We had looked forward to playing this course
for months and this guy was ruining it! So, after nine holes, we very
nicely told him to go on without us, we needed to take a break. We
were very sorry, but this heat was getting to me. I took the blame.
My DH was concerned this was rude and it probably was but I’m telling
you I was so stressed out I simply could not take it anymore! So, we
let him go on with out us and the group behind us who had been pushing
us and hitting into us because they were so frustrated, go on too.
As they went by us they said to us, “haha, your finally got rid of that yahoo!”.
Then, we could laugh about it cuz it was miserable! Anyway, we go
on to play the last nine holes and had a fabulous time! My DH says
to me, thanks me for doing that because you were right, it was making
us have a miserable time. So, we finish up and one of the guys that
we let by who spoke to us about that yahoo, tells us how much
trouble they had with him ahead of them. They had to actually
yell at him! Amazing! A single golfer should have been at least 4
holes ahead of their group. So, with that over, we had a great
time and the course was beautiful! We saw so much wildlife! It’s
too bad they are closer it, next year I think.
After all that drama, it put us behind and we didn’t have enough
time to go back to our room to clean up before dinner. We just
drove to the Poly for dinner at Kona Café. We prettied up in the
car and washed our hands etc in the bathrooms at the Poly. Hey,
it’s the best we could do! We laughed and said, “Its okay, we’re
on vacation!” We had a little extra time to shop and pick up some
souvenirs and enjoy the art gallery. Beautiful stuff! We saw the
artist’s work in Hawaii when we were there last year. Wow, it’s
very expensive! We had a fabulous dinner at Kona! I’d only been
before for breakfast! The service and food was outstanding! I had
the Pot stickers and DH had the Creamy Kona Seafood Chowder for
our appetizers. For our entrees, I ordered the Coconut Almond
Chicken and my DH ordered Shrimp and Scallops. For dessert, we
both ordered Crème Brulee and we were disappointed in it. Otherwise,
we had a fabulous time and would highly recommend it.
Here’s my entrée:
Here’s my DH’s:
We were utterly exhausted after dinner but we wanted to
walk off our dinner a little bit. So we headed to the beach
and were able to watch the Electrical Water Parade! I just
love that parade!
After that we walked or I should say waddled back up the
torch lit walkways, so romantic! We were so full! We drove
back to POFQ for a much needed good night’s sleep!
