Just got through the sea of callers at MS and secured a 2BR villa for the first half of our HHI stay this summer! Very excited!!!

If you recall, this is DESPITE my DH's protests that a hurricane most likely will wreak havoc on our entire vacation and send us scurrying inland while our points (that COULD be used for a WDW trip) are essentially lost at sea.

All I can say to that is, "She who make the ressies, makes the decisions!" And buddy, I be dialin' tomorrow too until I get the whole week secured....

Uh, BTW, now would be a good time for all you HHI luvers to pipe in on how WISE this decision is and how much the kids (and even CBDH) will LOVE it!

ABSOLUTELY! Especially when the "opposing position" makes no sense whatsoever!!!!!

Congrats on getting thru and good luck on securing the rest of the reservation. I'm quite sure that by the time your vacation is over, your DH will be insisting HHI was all his idea, anyway.

Yes, I was quite happy too, as I had no idea how I would fare at the 7 mos window. My sis has tried getting HHI during easter week for the past 2 yrs and had no luck, but hey, that's easter week -- you kinda expect that. I also don't think she was "diligent" (i.e. I am not sure she called at her 7 mos window... more like her 6.5? )

I think some "factors" in my ability to get the ressie for this trip are that (a) we're looking for a 2BR (which is the predominant room type there) and (b) it's mid-August (many so. schools will be back in session that week.) And maybe (C) the Hurricane Gods are smiling (or laughing?) at me! Who knows, maybe my DH isn't alone in his hurricane-spawned fears, and some folks are avoiding the Aug/Sep timeframe for that reason. I didn't even call MS at the crack of dawn, either -- I called at about noon today. They were VERY busy... I figured it was all those 11 mos folks making T'giving and early Dec travel plans to WDW. Nope -- the CM said all she's been doing all day and last week as well was filling folks' requests for Feb and March! I'm much too excited (or perhaps O-C) to let my travel plans wait that long!

Had I failed for the week of Aug 7-14, I was prepared to try for the next week, thinking the odds of getting something at HHI in later Aug. would be even better. I aimed for the 2nd week of August namely because (a) it was the earliest I could forsee us going (and a compromise to DH in that Charley didn't strike until Aug 13th... maybe we would fare better, earlier?) And (b) it will be our 15th anniversary on Aug 11.

The CM at MS said she actually had "a fair number" of 2BRs open (meaning, it wasn't empty, but I didn't exactly take the last one either).
I confess I was so happy, I didn't bother asking about other room sizes (studio or 1BR or GV) so I have no idea what the availability on those would be. I may just ask (how full HHI is across all room types) when I call tomorrow to add the next day to my ressie -- might be interesting to know!
