Disney’s Magic Band FAQ Link

The last time we went, we had magic bands but they are NOT the plus ones. Should we upgrade them?

Also, Do they still have magic bands for kids?
The MagicBands are designed so that you can peel away the longer part of the band for smaller wrists. We got one for our 6 yo.

Magicbands are connected to the ticket, but to the person correct? I realized my son has the option to get a magicband on MDE from an old AP (like a few years back). Can I still purchase the magicband through that AP link, even though he does not have an AP for our upcoming trip?

I don’t think so, but you might as well try. There won’t be any penalty if the system says No!

It will let me click through it and select a magicband. I just wanted to be sure it won’t be tired to an old AP he doesn’t even have anymore. I don’t think we ever purchased the MB through the AP when he had one, instead we purchased through our resort reservation

The new MB would be tied to his profile in MDE, not to any specific ticket (or specific resort reservation). Think of the MB as a key that unlocks a chest containing items such as park tickets, ADRs, LLs, resort reservations, etc. When the MB is tapped or scanned it opens the chest and pulls out whatever specific item is needed right then. For instance, when tapping into a park it pulls out the park ticket, and when tapped to a resort room door it connects to the room reservation and opens the door.

Perfect, that is what I was hoping. Thanks :)

I know you basically got your answer, but to confirm: MagicBand, Pre-arrival order, Annual Passholder order are all linked to the person's MDE account, not to a ticket or annual pass.

For example: Last year, my annual pass was expiring, due to divorce and cancer I choose to not renew. I never used the offer to order the discounted band for having an Annual Pass because I didn't like the stock and already had plenty of bands. I completely forgot about it. I didn't think of it until I finished chemo and booked a trip this June with my son.

When I went into order bands for our upcoming trip, the AP Discount band order was also still there for me so I ordered one. It came and is linked to my My Disney account and ready for use. And I still have the discounted band order for our upcoming trip available to use.

So yes, if a person has an un-used Annual Pass Band discount, their AP expires, yes they can still use the AP Discount band offer to order a band. But it must be the person who had the AP. For example I couldn't use the AP Discount order to buy a band for my son. It had to be for me.

I just completed a trip using my Apple Watch, and can't recommend it enough. It has all the functionality of a Magic Band+ (minus the lighting up at certain situations) and the Apple Watch serves purposes in everyday life away from Disney. Yes, the Apple Watch is more expensive, but if you already own one, it costs $0 to use at Disney.

One of the MBs I received is damaged. Anyone know how to contact Disney about a replacement? There isn’t an email or a contact option on my order or shipping email.

It still doesn't open Disney hotel room doors, does it? Apple does have functionality for this, but for whatever reason, Disney doesn't support it.

You still can't unlock a hotel room door using an Apple Watch. Even with an iPhone, you have to open the MDE mobile app to unlock the door.

It would be nice if Disney supported the hotel key feature from Apple. I think Hyatt is still the only major hotel chain that supports it.

We received a damaged Magic Band. We took it with us when we went to Disney. The front desk gave us a voucher for another Magic Band. We used it at the hotel's gift shop. I did have the receipt.

Thanks. I’m hoping to get a new one delivered as my husband has stickers he wants to put on it before we go…. I tried sending a general email on the website, but who knows if I will hear anything back.

Hello! I found our MB+ from a DL trip in 2023. I charged them and was able to to pair them on Friday night. Getting ready for our trip which begins on Wednesday. I am not able to pair either band now. I called WDW yesterday and he thought I hadn't turned the bands off properly so they may not be charged. He said to hold the button for 6 seconds to turn it off. I recharged and still can't pair. I pushed the button once to turn on and it did turn green. Bluetooth is on my phone. I can see my band in the app and it says it's not connected when looking in the app or in my settings. Any ideas? I'm wondering if I need to buy new bands.

If don't want to waste time setting up a band since we won't arrive to our first park until around 1. Don't see a barcode on the ticket to be able to scan at the gate/rides. Does that code appear on our first day when the ticket is active?

Thanks!

Is it possible to borrow Magic Bands and have them connected to your account? Planning a 6 person trip where not everyone wants to carry their phones (or even has one) but don't want to pay for Magic Bands.

Can I just say that the complimentary Magic Bands that used to come with your trip are really missed in our family. It was a small thing that made everyone feel really special.

Once linked to MDE, they can't be reassigned to someone else.

I’ve had issues from the start charging my band from the beginning. It might be the charger or the band itself.

My my pass doesn’t have a barcode, but it’s an AP.

When you charged your band, did it continue to light up while charging?

DH and I have been AP holders for many years and still have the original MBs that we got the first time. They are practically falling apart and we'd like to get new ones. I don't want MB+ because we are local so never stay at resorts, don't use photos, etc. We just need to tap in the turnstiles and sometimes on rides.

Is there anywhere we can get the old style MBs (without Plus)? It's odd because we never received new MBs when we renewed our APs year after year, although other people told us that they were sent new MBs each year they renewed.
