Maybe someone with a lot of knowledge can answer this question. We recently bought our own contract . A couple of years ago we added points on to my husbands parents contract on to the one they already had. Should we transfer the points over yearly or should transfer the contract over to our own now. I guess this would be a name change. Has anyone done this? From what I understand there is a fee to do this. Just another bit of information. Both contracts have the same use year.I hope I explained this well. From what I understand you can not bank transferred points.

You can transfer them yearly if you want. As for transferring the ownership, it would essentially be a resale. I know that DVC has some provisions for transferring to direct family members so I would call and talk to Member Administration, not Member Services. I suspect you'll need to have the deed changed and again recorded so there will be a cost. I would not expect this to need to go through the ROFR committee. With the change allowing banking of tranferred points, I'd say leave it alone unless they make it real easy. The only problem would be if you were thinking about renting points, you wouldn't be able to transfer points again as you would be using your once a year transfer and so would your parents. Let us know what happens.
