This is not an actual question, but a statement. Here is what YoaMD (Year of a Million Dreams) is.. it is a celebration in the Disney Parks that will strengthen the bond between Disney Cast Members and Disney Park Guests.. Groups of cast members called "Dream Teams" randomly select a family seen doing something nice (or mostly any family that has a 5-8 year old enjoying themselves) and reward them with a wish.. these wishes range anywhere from a special Cast Only Pixie Dust Pin, to free vacation packages and most sought after: a night in Cinderella's Castle (WDW) or a night in Mickey's Penthouse (DLR). What i mean by bringing YoaMD into VMK is this new system that Yavn speaks of which he calls a "Gold Star Reward Program". He advertises this program as a way for VMK staff (including CL_'s i believe but don't quote me on that) to reward VMKers who are kind to new players, guests, etc. He says that if a staff member catches you acting kindly upon someone, they will reward you with a gold star.. This has an almost uncanny resemblance to the way the "Pixie Dust" Pins will be given out in real Disney Parks for the YoaMD.. what do you think? pixiedust: :wizard:

That would be great :). I never saw in the parks where it's only for families with kids 5-8 years old.

well it's not, but let's face it.. will Disney pick the 15 year old kid with pimples in his mohawk, baggy pants with chains, and has one headphone of his ipod in his ear all the time to spend the night in Cinderella Castle? Of course not.. just like the way Disney designs their hotel rooms, they are mostly based on a traditional family of four.. i'm sure that 95% of the good prizes will go to families with small children.. that's just how it works..

LOL..you're just to afraid to admit thats you JK! :rotfl:

I think this gold star award thing is great! But the thing is, what if there is someone who does really nice things for the players in VMK and since nobody is around to notice they don't get rewarded? Also you never know if someone is faking it in front of a staff member or CL.
Anyways I think this will encourage some of those unhappy players who are just plain mean sometimes to change their attitude a bit. Its not a nice thought though how it will take something like this to encourage people to help out, the fact is they should be doing everything they can now to make VMK a safe and happy environment.
I could name someone on the DIS who I think really deserves a gold star award, not sure if she wants me to recognize her but I can't think of any reason why she wouldn't want me to so I'll PM her about it and ask her if I can so I can edit this post later. I've only know her for a little while but she does alot to help out other players, and gives a warm welcome to all the new players on VMK. I really hope she gets a gold star award because she really deserves it! :goodvibes

EDIT: PM'ed her and she said it was up to me if I wanted to post her name so I'll post it: DaraAllen (DaraSue in VMK)

Um, when I was there in 2004 and 2005 I had a great big mohawk (and pimples) and we got asked to be in two parades, a show in MGM, not to mention various other magical moments. I might not 'look the part' but I still love Disney. It's really rude to judge people based on their looks and I doubt Disney is that bias based on their values.

PS - It's nice people might get rewarded for doing something nice, but doing the nice deed is reward in itself. I think it's a bad idea for people to start to expecting good things to happen to them if they do a good deed. People should just do good because it's the right things to do.

you have a mohawk??????? jk, it doesn't really matter to me!!!!!!! anyways, yeah, i don't esactly think they'd want a lanky thirteen year old who looks like she could be in high school either........... no, that's not exactly what i look like (i don't really think i'm lanky, but people do think i'm in high school..............)

anyways, getting back on topic: does anyone know when this program starts in VMK?????

OT: post 1,400!!!!!

Nope... I do believe it will cause a problem when it comes out, though.

yep, it most certainly will.

(as weather reporter) expect a 400% increased chance of dcs, and expect vmk to crash about once every 20, if not 10 minutes. On the plus side, you can expect many people pretending to be kind, and the minute they get their stars, expect them to start yelling at you.

Exactly, you spoke my mind perfectly 4orm. People should do things nice and not expect anything because they should be doing those things anyways; its a shame that some people need motivation to do the right thing. :sad2:

PS. I love the mohawk, way to go about the two shows; and that is proof that disney is not bias based on looks :thumbsup2

I like the concept of giving someone something at random on VMK. However, the Year of a Million Dreams Giveaway has nothing to do with random acts of kindness. The promotion will randomly select a guest in the park despite age or family unit. Here is the link to the official rules: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/index
