I just checked 7/25 - 7/31 and no change for us using the Wal-Mart code and free day coupon in Ent. book.

I checked again.. my rates are higher than my reservation, but not as high as they were a few days ago! When I checked a few days ago it was almost $800! Now it's showing $548 for a midsize with my union discount ID# and the 1 upgrade coupon code.
My days are June 13 - July 3, midsized for $493. I saved a full size at $523 also, but I think I'll cancel that one tomorrow and keep the midsize. It's only myself and my DD.

Is that code from the Entertainment Book? I am trying to decide to purchase one just for the rental car discount.

Thanks you :)

I just changed mine for my August trip and saved about 70.00 and made a new one for my September trip(cancelled Dollar ressie) and saved about 40.00 on that one!! Yahoo!!

thanks so much!!! I just saved $85:banana:

I'm getting a bit sad here.. mine are still much higher than the ressies I have. I'd love for them to get lower too!

I use the 3 codes above and get that one of them isn't valid.
What kind of car are you renting?

My dates are June 13 11:30am - July 3rd 4:00pm out of Sanford Airport. I want at least a midsize car, no smaller.

Right now I have a midsize with Dollar for $493, full $523. I have one for Alamo for $526 for midsize. I didn't know if both rental places were on property.. and I have now found that they both are, but a poster said that the Alamo is really far? (I thought it was a small airport).

I am using Promo code: 744 and rate code: RWUW8 for Dollar.

For Alamo I am using my union ID (which seems to take off the same amount as most of the other ID #s, and a one car class upgrade code:AU4874ODG. So I choose a compact car and get confirmed as a mid-sized car.

If by chance anyone has any suggestions on how to get my rate lower.. I'll try it!

I am glad that I was able to help some people out. I am renting a minivan, so the code will only work for SUV, minivans etc. You guys have helped me out plenty, so I am glad it worked for some.

Mine went down too. I started at $373 for 10 days (Std. SUV) and am now down to $221.04!!! FWIW, the SUVs are cheaper than compacts, etc. probably because of gas prices. I need an SUV anyway for all of our luggage and the stroller. I'm using the Costco code and the $25 off coupon from Costco as well.

How do you apply both the walmart code AND the entertainment code? The box where you put it in looks like it just accepts one code.

Thanks! While I couldn't get the price down any lower, the new reservation includes an additional driver at no extra charge. :)

Try this: Dollar Promo code: KISS2

also if you belong to BJ's Wholesale Club they have great coupons and usually give you the addl. driver for free.

If you belong to Costco, they also have great coupons. I think the discount is similar to BJ's.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Thank you for the links and all the info.. I went through the codes and so far it seems like I still have the best price from Dollar. I have $493 for an intermediate for the 3 weeks.
I actually don't think it's really a bad price, but I was hoping to get a little lower.

Thanks again :)

Well it worked for me I am flying into PBI and out of Tampa got the car for 10 days and used the BJ's coupon (wonder if they check the card, I have one but it expires 5/31/07) and I saved about 40.00 thanks again.

Do you have to go to Sanford? Can you fly into Tampa..it's like $100 cheaper for car rental on your dates/times.

Just a suggestion. Last December I was flying into Burbank, CA. for 10 days and I had been back and forth with my Alamo ressie (with the same codes), got my price down to around $264.

I read on this board about using Priceline for rental cars so I got curious. The only thing with Priceline is your ressie is prepaid and there is no refund so you better be sure you are going. I ended up with a nicer car (Chevy Impala with leather interior and satelite radio which I fell in love with) for $150 for the 10 days.

I have used Priceline many, many times for hotels over the years and have always, always been very happy. I plan to use them for rental cars in the future. Also, you can choose what agencies you wish to bid so you don't end up with some fly by night agency.

Disneymama,
You have me curious about Priceline now. Do you pick the they type of vehicle class you want then make a bid on what you would pay? I have never used Priceline before for anything. We are needing a rental from July 13 - July 20 (Ft. Myers) and I am not finding a great deal.

I am curious too. How often do you get stuck with Hertz or Thrifty? Not that they're bad companies, but they're offsite. How much would you bid for a fullsize per day? Also how far in advance do you book? We're going in early Nov. so there's a good chance rates might drop anyway. Maybe a last-minute low bid might help?

I have used priceline and hotwire numerous times and got great deals. I am making reservations but I will continue to watch them and try the last minute ones.
