YC vs BC?

You can't go wrong with either. Both are beautiful! I personally would pick the Beach Club, I have an affinity to the beach, more so then boats! Both are quiet, luxurious, and worth every penny.

I find the Beach Club atmosphere more relaxed. The YC is more formal, though elegant.

YC rooms have full balconies but all BC rooms don't. With BC you are closer to the Marketplace with limited quick service. At YC you are also dropped off and picked up by buses before BC. YC is more formal and nautical in theme and BC is brighter and more casual. Both are just lovely.

Here is a link to the Yacht & Beach Club FAQ thread.

One of the first pages contains this comparison:

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are similar resorts in terms of service and amenities, and have equal access to the shared pool complex, health club and video arcade. Both resorts have the same management team in place.

Some minor differences have been noted by guests:

Beach Club
Lighter, beachy decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby can be active and lively with families waiting for meals at Cape May
Closer to EPCOT and Marketplace Gift Shop
Approximately 50% of rooms in all room categories have full balconies. The remaining are standing balconies.

Yacht Club
Darker woods and nautical decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby is more serene
Convention attendees are more likely to be booked at YC
Closer to Hollywood Studios and Friendship Boats
Most rooms have a full balcony

As other posters have commented, you can't go wrong either way!

BC has a brighter, and more inviting atmosphere towards families with kids...while YC seems more dull to me. Although YC does have full balconies, I much prefer the BC.

I would not use distances to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios as a reason to pick one over the other as the differences are negligible.

We love both, but the balconies at YC plus the fact that it was rehabbed more recently puts it ahead. (We are staying at BC this time because we wanted a deluxe room, the comparable room category at YC, the junior suites, wasn't available at a discount)

We have stayed at and love both! They are sister resorts so not much different. I like the room decor more at Yacht Club and it's quieter and we had a full balcony there. Beach Club is busier but also very pretty. We got pixie dusted on our stay here to Club level :cloud9:. If we were choosing between these two for next trip the vote is for Yacht club. We just liked it a tiny bit more. it is only like 20 more feet to Epcot so don't let that make your decision :goodvibes.

I personally like the BC side more so than the YC side. BC has better access to food, stormalong bay and walking to Epcot. YC side was nice, but we were placed in the very last building which was not feasible for the refillable mugs or stormalong bay.

if you have very little ones, you might prefer the BC. it is, imho, much noisier with a lot of activity going on at all times of the day (and, frequently, night:headache:).

we (including our kidlets when they were 8yo and up) prefer the quiet elegance of the YC, with access to the "other side" when we want, rather than having/hearing it all the time.

You will LOVE either one you decide on. I swore that we would NEVER stay at YC because i thought it was too stuffy, well that was all that was available this past July so I booked it. I can't tell you how wonderful the entire resort is. YC is not stuffy at all, and is very family friendly. the kids staying there ran around and had just as much fun as at the BC. They say the decor is darker, and I expected wood ALL OVER the place, but that is not at all what it is like. The balcony was fantastic also. Our DD was 13 for this trip, and she wants to stay there again. The BC is just a Hop away (not even a Hop,Skip and Jump!). You can dine at BC just as easily as YC, Stormalong bay is HUGE making it just as close to YC as BC. If I called today and all they had was YC, I would be one happy camper.............but I can also say the same for BC, even though we didn't stay there we felt like we were part of that resort also.

Be warned, you will be comparing this resort to all the others for future trips.

I would not use distances to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios as a reason to pick one over the other as the differences are negligible.

Except when you drive up to the World during record heat and humidity, and after four hours of slogging through World Showcase, the small extra distance that you have to walk back to the YC vice the BC looms very large.

My girlfriend and I have this "discussion" all the time. She likes the closer, brighter, busier BC. I prefer the more laid back, more stately YC. On another thread families with little kids appreciated the YC balconies iirc.

We are just back from the YC. We absolutely loved. There were many families and children there. We did not find it dark at all, but I will say the BC has a lighter feel. Having stayed at both, I now prefer YC. It is elegant without being stuffy, staff were warm and friendly. We had a great room with a balcony overlooking the YC pool/hot tub area. We had towel characters daily.

Loved our stay there!!!

Both resorts look similar to me and are connected. They share the same great pool and have the same amenities. Once I parked my car in the YC parking lot and spent an hour looking for my vehicle in the BC parking lot until the Mickey Mouse Police helped us. I would let cost be your guide between these two great resorts.

I have stayed at both, more recent stay was at the YC. While I think both are wonderful resorts, I prefer the YC. Just because I prefer the theming at the YC over the BC. I also think it is a little less hectic in the lobby area. Actually, the YC is my all time favorite WDW resort that I have stayed at so far! :thumbsup2
