YC Junior Suite or BWI Garden Suite?

We are a family of 4: two adults and two teenage kids. I'm torn between the 1 bedroom Garden Suite at the BWI and the Junior Suite at the YC.
For those in the know, can you give me the pros and cons of both resorts? I want to hear it all, good or bad! Which would you choose?

One big difference is if you have a garden suite with the cute little garden, your entrance is outside (through the garden!). So if it's raining or bad weather, you are coming and going through the elements. Any suites at YC would connect to interior corridors.

As far as the resorts themselves, a big thing with kids of any age is which pool is more appealing. YC has SAB access, BW has their own feature pool. There is a quiet pool near the garden suites, which would be very convenient. I feel BW is more centrally located if you plan to walk to both Epcot and MGM, but both resorts have boat access conveniently located. BW does not have any restaurants inside the resort (they are all out along the boardwalk), but YC does (in fact, there is covered walkway access to the BC restaurants as well).

If you are going during hot weather or during rainy season, YC would win hands down, just because you can access so much without going outside. If you are going in the winter or during the drier season, and the pool isn't a dealbreaker, I would consider them pretty much equal. It does feel special walking into your hotel room from the beautiful gardens though.

Have you thought about the BWI Deluxe Concierge room? We have not stayed in one, but I keep thinking that would be a great choice for BWI. The room faces the boardwalk, is larger than a standard concierge room and has a fold out sofa and extra TV (:thumbsup2 w/ teenagers).

fla4fun, I've seen pictures of both YC rooms and BWI Garden Suites, it looks to me like the BWI suites are bigger, am I right? A garden outside would be nice, are there chairs out there for us to enjoy? Regarding the weather, that's a great point. I'm really not sure if we're hitting the rainy seasons, we're looking at mid December for our trip.

HockeyMomR, I actually was going to book the deluxe BWI room then I saw the suite. Again I'm wondering if the suites are a lot bigger? I don't seem to see that information anywhere.

Thanks for helping me out here!

The information that I have read - the Garden Suites are just a little larger than a standard room, but have the benefit of the layout. I think the Deluxe Concierge rooms are larger. Have you check through the BW sticky for pictures. I know they are out there.

Also check out Allearsnset pictures (I think I can post the link?)

Have fun planning!

The garden suites are wonderful and very romantic. King bed is upstairs along with the full bathroom. Downstairs is a sleep sofa and 1/2 bath. TVs both upstairs and downstairs and a wet bar downstairs too. More room in a garden suite I believe. 3 of the gs's have balconies (my favorite) and the other 12 have patio's. Concierge lounge is a walk but it's fantastic and you are very close to the quiet pool.

I looked into both pretty carefully. The BWI Garden Suites have an extra half bath and wet bar area as well. Upstairs/downstairs layout provides a nice benefit, though no privacy wall from noise. I would think the extra 1/2 bath would be a big benefit, especially in the middle of the night.

The YC Junior Suite doesn't have the extra 1/2 bath or wet bar. It does have glass doors separating the two sleeping spaces. But if you have to use the bath in the night, you'll need to travel into the teenager sleeping space to get to it.

Do the teens want to share a sofa bed? If not, you'll not be happy in the Garden Suite. I don't know if the Yacht Club junior suite has beds or a sofa bed. I agree you should consider the BWI concierge deluxe rooms.

The YC Jr. Suite has two queen beds in the actual bedroom. The other area has a pull-out sofa.

So much to consider! I LOVE the idea of having a jacuzzi in the room, but I'm a little put off by the sofa bed. I'm not sure how it is at the BWI, but my one experience with one of those resulted in a very poor night of sleep.
I did look up the pictures of the BWI Deluxe rooms, very nice! I didn't realize that they were so big.
So between the BWI and the YC, it would come down to location? I'm assuming the BWI Deluxe is a comprable room to the YC Junior Suite.

So now my question is, which would you choose...YC or BWI? (SAB is not a factor, it'll be too cold for us to swim in December)

Thanks to all that chimed in to share your knowledge!

Since SAB is not a factor, I'd pick BWI. It is more centrally located between Epcot and MGM, making it an easy walk to both. The Boardwalk is more lively at night with street entertainers, ESPN, dueling piano bar, etc. The BWI deluxe concierge room seems like it would be very comfortable for your family. So, I'd pick BWI.

I think Boardwalk Inn is very pretty in December...

You realize there is a pull-out sofa in all three of your choices, right?

I'd still go with the garden suite for the separate rooms and the extra bath. The garden suites get concierge access.

We are staying in a BWI garden suite with our DS-21 and DD-11 in 18 days!
Originally, we were booked in a deluxe concierge room but when we called to see if a code applied to our exsisting the CM suggested the suite. The extra half bath really sold us--and the code applied:thumbsup2 The CM also suggested a rollaway bed for our DD--or we wouln't have been able to do it. The kids said they thought the bed situation was better in the suite --even with the rollaway and sofa bed because it was 2 levels and not just one big room.Once we get back I can let you know about our experiences.

We are so excited. I am a little sad about loosing the boardwalk view of the deluxe room but looking at the pictures of the garden suites makes me happy! I am wondering if the ones with the balcony are still accessed through a garden entrance or is there an internal door because of the balcony??

Ok, I was lurking on this thread, now my mind is buzzing about room changes for my family.
Does anyone have pictures of a BWI Deluxe Concierge?? Inside and view???
PLEASE..............

You still have a garden and arbor entrance with the balcony rooms.

It seems that the huge draw to YC over BWI is SAB, since the pool isn't a factor for us we're leaning towards the BWI. Both the deluxe concierge rooms and the garden suites both seem like great places to stay. I really like the idea of an extra 1/2 bath, and LOVE the idea of a jacuzzi tub in the garden suite. I don't think I'd mind not having the BW view so much, after so many busy days it might be nice to go back to a quiet room.
On the other hand...the deluxe rooms are close to the concierge lounge. And the rooms seem a lot bigger, I wasn't able to find any confirmation on that. Anyone know for sure? Or even if one seemed roomier than the other?

Elitravelor, it seems that your situation is very similar to mine. Please let me know your thoughts when you return. I'm also wondering how you accesss those second floor balcony rooms in the garden suite. Anyone??

I found these pictures while doing my research. I hope it's ok to post here. allears.net Look under resorts / Boardwalk Inn / photos.

I went to the site and was not able to find anything labeled "Deluxe concierge" room.
I have looked thru the pic board for rooms and I am not having any luck.
Maybe I will just have to go to WDW sooner- just to get a sneek peek...YEAH RIGHT!!!!

Here is the link again to allearsnet BWI pics, Deluxe Room (concierge). Good luck, I think this room looks great. We have stayed in the BC Deluxe room, that we loved, but the BWI Deluxe room has the benefit of the pull out sofa (Beach Club is a Daybed) and extra TV.
