Just got back from 12/17-23 stay. We stayed the first 4 nights at YC, standard view and the last 2 at the WL, main pool view. We LOVED YC. It felt like coming home, and then I realized it did look like our home. The striped curtains had colors straight out of my wardrobe—off white, light and dark blues, and khaki.:p The wall paper was very similar to the one I had hung on our previous apartment. I found the resort refined yet not fussy. I loved the fact that there were other resorts in walking distance; it didn’t have the isolated feeling of other stand-alone resorts.

We chose to split our stays because DH had wanted to stay at an Epcot resort and we have two young children--DS5 and DS3—and wanted someplace close to MK. The WL was a sentimental choice as we honeymooned there 6 years ago. The resort is definitely more family and budget-friendly. Had YC have something like Roaring Fork Café we wouldn’t have had to order room service or spring for expensive breakfast buffets at the Galley. The smaller pool at the WL was more suitable for our two boys.

However, we found ourselves a bit disappointed at the WL after 4 nights at YC, e.g. smaller room, darker hallway, the room not being made until 6 pm. Also, I kept bumping into the heavy bed frame—I am rather accident prone. In retrospect, it might have been better if we had stayed at the WL first. The CMs at both resorts were very friendly and nice to our boys. All in all, we had a lovely trip, and can’t wait to go back.

Next time you're looking for an inexpensive breakfast at the Yacht Club, just take a short walk over to the Dolphin and go to Tubbi's Buffeteria. Similar to Roaring Forks but open 24 hrs. You can eat there or take-out back to your room.

Thanks erikthewise. You are indeed wise! ;)

It didn't even dawn on me to go to the Dolphins for a meal. I hadn't realized just how close the Dolphin was to the YC; it was our first time vist. I would like to go back to the YC but DH wants to try the BWI. Eitherway, we would definitely give the Swan and Dolphin restuarants a try.

When we stayed at the YC we had breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery and then caught the bus in front of the BWI. Also we did breakfast in the YC lobby... quick stuff, muffins, cereal, etc. I thought it was nice. :)

DH and I really wanted to try the Bakery, but the first night we had a late flight and didn't get to sleep until 1 AM. The kids woke up hungry and wanted food NOW. That's why we went for the buffet. The second night, we went to the MVMCP and didn't get to sleep until 2 AM, and so the following morning we went to the buffet again.

The third morning, DH and DS5 wanted to do MS and TT, and we had just enough time to make it to Epcot for the opening. The fourth morning we had PS at Cape May and then checked-out of the YC. :(

We would love to try the Bakery. It's one of the reasons DH wants to stay at the BWI. ;)

Now I must go and wrap some presents or Santa won't have anything for the boys. Merry Christmas everyone! :wave2:
