Yay my braces are finally off!

Wow 19 months!


I am So glad I did it though, my teeth look and feel so much better now I think I have a lot more self confidence and I think I will smile a lot more now

I completely understand!
I got my retainer today, though. It's kind of irritating...you get your braces off, and then 5 days later there is a metal bar going across your top teeth.

Remember when I first got my braces off. I was so happy. No more going to the ortho and getting my teeth wrenched until the felt like they were going to pop right out.


Worth it though!

here's some advice...

wear your retainer(s)!!!!

My SIL got her braces off in 2003...she had her bottom ones put back ON in 2005 becuase she wasn't wearing her retainer and her teeth had shifted.

soooo...if you'd rather NOT go through all the pain and fun that braces entails...wear your retainer!

Definitely wear your retainer! I got my braces off two years ago and was told to wear my top all day/night and my bottom every night. Well, I only wear them at night (bad me) and they are fine, but if I don't for several days, my teeth start moving!

You are SO LUCKY!!!!!!! I am an adult in braces, almost at the three year mark. The earliest I would get them off would probably be the summer, making it well over three years, probably closer to three and a half. Then I will have permanent retainers placed, as well as full retainers, on uppers and lowers! My teeth will always have something on them from here to eternity (or dentures!). Before when I had badly crooked teeth, I could not present or market myself well in job interviews, and forget about social situations! Braces was the BEST thing I ever did for myself, no exaggeration!

First off Congrats. Second off wear the retainers and wear them longer then they suggest. I was told to wear my retainers for the time I had my braces on. I think it was 15 months. So I wore my retainers exactly as I was told, well my bottom teeth shifted. I probably should get braces put back on but I have developed a dental phobia in the past few years and i don't think I can mentally handle it.
