*** Yay May! OFFICIAL MAY 2020 THREAD!!! Flowers are starting to bloom! ***

What’s the weather like at the end of May? How hot is it and how much rain is there? I wanted to go in March due to the weather but I’m forced to reschedule now.

Hot, from what I understand. I think the humidity (and therefore rain) starts to kick in around the end of the month too. Also consider that many local schools (and most colleges) are done by mid-May, so that may affect crowd levels if that's a concern.

geez guys, what the heck! When I started this thread in Feb 2019 (oh my gosh) I never even imagined we wouldn't be going. Then some unthinkable stuff happened and we had to postpone to next year.
I've been quietly still checking in to see how fast passes were going for everyone and it seemed so great and now this happens. :(

I sure hope you guys get to go. I feel so bad that all the excitement is now tempered by this.

Fingers crossed for all of you (the whole planet quite frankly) that we see the light at the end of the tunnel sooner rather than later.
Welcome back to your thread!!! :) what a crazy situation we've found ourselves in. I still want to go if the parks are open, but we'll just have to see how the situation plays out. How long schools are closed, how much make up time, if jobs get shuffled around, etc. These next few months will definitely be strange times.

I figured we were all keeping our heads down so this would overlook us ;) but nope.

CDC recommends cancelling events of 50 or more people for 8 weeks. That takes us to May 10/11, which means there goes our vacation :( Was really hoping that it would be a month at most.

What I don't get is why it does not apply to schools, universities or businesses. I had college classes that had way more than 50 people!

Nearly all schools in my area are either shut down for 1-2 weeks to start with for k-12 and colleges are switching to online only. If your area isn't there yet, I'm sure they will be soon.

Mine are closed for 3 weeks, everything is closed here, my county has the most confirmed cases in the state (22). What I am referring to is the CDC statement they released this morning regarding the next 8 weeks.

Gotcha. It's basically a fluid situation, so as new details come out, they'll recommend more closures etc. I really do hate this wait and see. It's insane that so much has closed to try to prevent spread. I hope it works.

I hate it too, I just wish Disney would say "yeah forget it April/May peeps, try again in June" ;)

Yeah, also concerned with the new 8-week recommendation... our check in was May 7. For the first time I am really considering pulling the plug. I don’t know if it’s better to keep waiting this out or just rebook for the fall and at least have something to look forward to and plan while quarantined!

Our arrival day was supposed to be May 9. Still have a glimmer of hope that it all turns around and ends earlier than eight weeks but at this point, trying to figure out when to go next, either August or next May.

This is also our arrival day and at this point I'm going to try and stay optimistic. If we can't go I'll be disappointed, but I understand that health and safety are so much more important.

We have a Norwegian cruise booked for October, Mexican Riviera going out of LA, while we were out there we were going to do Disneyland since we've never been. We've been planning that cruise for 2 years, but I think that we will cancel that. Too many unknowns with cruises :(

We are supposed to arrive on May 10th. It may still happen since that's at the end of the 8 weeks, but to be on the safe side I booked our same hotel and room category for September(room only so I can cancel within 5 days before check in) That way I get what I want this fall if May is cancelled and I dont have to worry everyday about the Boardwalk being booked up from people re-booking. Also we know its hurricane season (we don't mind hot and humid and rainy) and if a hurricane comes through during our dates, we will simply book again for next May. May even book room only next May sooner if the hurricane season looks fast and furious.

I suppose Disney could defy the CDC recommendation (they weren't "required" to close even when Anaheim recommended no gatherings of more than 250 people, for example) but the optics would be pretty bad if they opened when nothing else did. Word is that the NBA won't resume until June, that MLB won't start until June, etc. I have to assume we're pretty much sunk at this point.

My situation is a little different as we rented DVC points through a company. I contacted them over the weekend but they're inundated with trying to help people who actually had trips canceled so far, so I think I'm going to wait it out until they officially announce the closing for our dates. I'm hopeful that I can move the rented points to a different date but nothing's guaranteed at this point.

This whole thing has me feeling so bummed out. I was counting down the weeks (7 weeks from tomorrow) and now I don’t even know if the parks will be open. I’m still trying hard to remain hopeful for our 5/05 check in date.

Same. We are supposed to check in on 5/8. Not cancelling yet but have alternate dates picked out if we have to move our trip.

Our trip is May 1st and I have been booking and planning for a year and a half (as many of you have also done!!). We bought AP's because we were going to do 2 10 day trips just about a year apart, so cancelling and rebooking later this year isn't an option. I can move the trip a couple weeks, but that is if there is availability, also flights, rental, ADR's and FPs all booked. I am going to keep hopeful and hope that a lock down, plus the warmer weather will help curtail this situation sooner than later.

I guess my 30 day cancellation window is April 13 I think so I hope I know something definite by then. Luckily I booked a trip for late August when the FD promo was out.

I've kinda looked at some dates later in the year, sad to say. I'm pretty much figuring that October cruise is going to get cancelled, I just don't know if I'll be confident in the cruise industry to go then.

The dates I'm looking at will be far enough in advance that I'll be able to get ADRs if we go.

*sigh* it's slowly sinking in how real this is.

We are no longer accepting walk in customers at my job-the door is locked.

Our 2 rooms were booked through a Priceline Express deal (non refundable) - right now they are giving refunds but who knows how long that will last.
