I LOVE them. I have not found a suitable replacement.

How do you get the best deal? Usually I wait for a buy one get one half off sale or one of those 15 off a 45 purchase coupon, but I was wondering if there is a better way.

Did they recently have a price increase? I do not remember them being 24.99 for a large jar!

I work at YK and the large jars have been that price for years....your best bet with coupons is to always combine them with sales.....:goodvibes

I think they 'upped' the price earlier this year. I KNOW that last year right before Cmas they were still only 22.99 for the large jars that they are now selling for 24.99. I can only speak for where I live and shop, but I know that they have not been 24.99 for a full year yet.
Best deal on the large jars is at their friends and family sale, they're usually 6 for $69. That's about the cheapest I've ever seen them, with the exception of the Hallmark store that clearances the holiday scents along w/ the ornaments. I got some large jars there last year for about $5.50 each. :cool1:

CarolinaMomof3Boys do you mind if I ask how the company is to work for? I LOVE the candles and have always thought it would be my dream to work there since my current job is really stressful. They post openings every so often on the website but the way they list the payscale, I wasn't sure if it would be worth it for me to apply or not. When I called the # to ask questions, the woman was nice but kinda short about it telling me all questions about employment are answered during the interview.

It would just be part time but I didn't want to waste anyone's time if the pay/hours were really few. The position was second assistant manager, I think?

Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread, OP. Maybe it'd be better if I didn't work there- I would never bring home a paycheck, only candles!! :rotfl:

How would I be able to take part in the friends and family sale? 6 for 69 seems like a great deal, and a great time to stock up!When do they normally have it?

TY for the 10 off coupon BTW

I think this holiday season I may try to get a part time job at YC.

I'm in management with Yankee Candle, and I can absolutely guarantee the large jars have been $24.99 in the retail stores for quite some time, almost 2 if not 3 years. We are corporately owned, so every large jar in every retail store (except the outlets, Hallmark, other retailers) are priced exactly the same. If you paid less before Christmas last year then it was perhaps a different size jar. They were definitely $24.99 at this time last year, and well before that.

The next Friends & Family sale will be 9/10-11. It's an AMAZING deal - 50% OFF all wax products (more if you buy in quantities of 6), and usually 50% off all home fragrancing, and 25% off accessories. You just need to tell your local store that you're there for the F&F sale & you will get the discount!

Tara,
Thganks for the heads up, looks like I'll be popping in to see you some time then! Do I have to have a coupon or mention F&F discount?

Hi Star!!!

No - no coupon necessary - just tell them you know me - we have a friendly competition going each time to see who gets the most people in for the sale!

No to jump in, but I worked at YC for a while as both a cashier, then a 2nd assistant manager & LOVED it! I often think of going back & I would love to manage a store one day. Back when I worked there they had awesome benefits, including reimbursement for gym membership!! Don't know if they still have the cool perks, but I would still love it without them... not to mention the 50% employee discount. :cloud9: It was the least stressful job I've ever had & the best is you don't take work home with you...

...on second thought maybe you do, but in the form of candles & not stress. :)

I am so addicted to the candles its not even funny!!! The manager always asks me if I want to work there~maybe I should take her up on it.

Tara will you post a reminder of the friendfs & family sale when that week comes up? Or send me a to remind me that week? It is the first week back to school for me so I will be totally overwhelmed but I would hate to miss it! :)

Absolutely, I will post back on this thread early that week.

We got 2 new scents in today - Napa Valley Harvest and Pineapple Cilantro. Both are divine!!!

Do all Yankee stores have the F&F that weekend? Or just your store? And do coupons work that weekend? Thanks!

Yes MagicalMama, it's a corporate-wide event, so all retail stores (not outlets or wholesale accounts like Hallmark, Bed Bath Beyond, Cracker Barrel, etc.) There are no coupons allowed on top of the friends & family discount.

Well I had to try for a coupon! :rotfl: It's still a great deal though! I think if I walked in the house with 6 large jar candles, DH would have a heart attack before I even had the chance to explain the sale!!!! :lmao:

I worked for Yankee for a few years till leaving this past April.
I think the last price increase was about a year ago. Not much more than that.
TJ maxx/marshalls usually has YC's. Not all fragrances but a few different ones. I just bought a halloween swirl jar for 7.99. Yankee charges 21.99. Big difference.

I've had to resort to lying to my spouse - I come home with so many Yankee Candle bags that I started telling him I carry my lunch to & from work in them!

I really enjoy working there, but retail isn't for everyone. The pay is low & the hours are long - especially from October through December when stores have extended hours. If you don't mind that then run to your nearest Yankee Candle & apply for seasonal part time help!
