I saw an article about the Yak & Yeti in an Orlando tourism magazine. It looks like the kind of place that I would enjoy seeing, but I do not like my food fried. Can anyone who has been there tell me whether this is your typical fried rice and deep fried orange chicken kind of place? What are the best things on the menu for someone who does not like heavy foods?

From what I seen ya,sorry but we love It:goodvibes. But you know what why they could not make It up for you another way? could not hurt to ask!. There and 9 draggons and planet hollywood and rainforest cafe are musts!!:cool1:

We ate at the Yak and Yeti for the first time in December and we loved it! I had the flank steak, shrimp tempura (fried) and Jasmine rice. It was excellent. If you don't like fried food, they have quite a few choices that are pan seared or grilled. We loved the pot stickers as an app. Hope this helps.

Pork Pot Stickers - pan seared or steamed, soy lime dipping sauce $7.99

Seared Miso Salmon - miso glazed Atlantic salmon, jasmine rice, baby bok choy and shiitake mushroom stir-fry $22.99

Stir-Fried Beef and Broccoli - flank steak, broccoli, brown sauce $17.99

Baby Back Ribs - slow-roasted ribs, hoisin BBQ sauce, chicken fried rice, sweet chili slaw $24.99

Maple Tamarind Chicken - Seared chicken breast, Indonesian tamarind glaze, coconut ginger rice, baby bok choy, shiitake mushroom stir fry. $18.99

The steak and shrimp is one of my favorites and we are going to share it this year I think.

Their pot sticker was great.

We have eaten there twice now and we LOVE it. The waitstaff is awesome and the variety of food is quite diverse I had the Tamarind Chicken with Coconut Jasmine Rice the first time and fell in love. My husband had the duck and also thought it was incredible.
The second trip we took three adult children with and all thought it was one of the best meals of the whole week.

i had the malaysian seafood curry and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. It was absolutely freezing that day so it was doubly enjoyed :D

Yak and Yeti is great! They have a few typical 'Chinese' food dishes, but the menu is what I like to call Americanized Pan Asian - so there are some other influences in there. You can check out a menu here - http://allears.net/menu/menu_yak.htm

I've been twice now, and did a review for the one of the visits - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=34391662&posted=1#post34391662

If you want something a bit light, the lettuce cups were good, and the Miso Salmon with veggies and steamed rice is a good choice as well.

I had the ribs and DH had the chicken lo mein. Both were excellent and we would definitely go back!

Don't get the fried rice- we love fried food but it was not good. The jasmine rice is out of this world, possibly the best rice I've ever eaten. I got the mahi mahi and it was very good, DH has shrimp lo mein which he really enjoyed and DS got the honey chicken. It was coated and fried with a sauce on it. We definitely enjoyed eating at Yak and Yeti and will be going next time.

Sorry, I don't know how to upload so many pics but here are some of my Sept. 2009 Y&Y trip
We LOVE Y&Y and it is always on our short list (along with Raglan Road) (also love the CS place [which IIRC used to be called Anandupur Local Food Cafes)
love the green beans( a bit of frying involved, but worth the fat)
there are many things (as a matter of fact most) that are not fried and/or overly greasy
also really like the salmon and seared ahi
If you have a decent Vietnamese recipe for sure give the pho a pass
We have loved everything but..... (isn't there always a but?)
the duck can be dry..really dry
when you order drinks ask your server to bring 2 drinks each and give you some extra straws* Also if you need Sriracha now is a good time to ask and IMO the only dessert worth ordering is the sorbet because the other things are purely pedestrian

* the waiters seem to have really BIG stations and if it is busy it might be some time before you see her/him again
the straws are paper (no plastic because of the animals) and can go a bit "soggy"

FWIW, Y&Y is a Landry's property
