I'd taken about 100 pics for my site today, but I just wanted to make sure everyone knew Yak and Yeti is taking DDP but NOT DDE. At least today. That may change, or not. There were upset people, and I wanted to make sure everyone knew.

Thanks for the info - I hope they change their policy about the DDE.

I do too, but someone just had posted that they aren't even accepting CM discounts and AP's next year. So I won't hold my breath.

Someone just posted their review claiming that today their DDE was accepted.

The best thing to do is to call or email the DDE office and ask if it is being accepted at this restaurant. You can then print the email and take it with you

When I called DDE and asked about his on Friday, the CM didn't hesitate when saying 'yes it is included.'

That office doesn't open until 9:00am. I will contact them again to see if she was mistaken or if it begins at a later date.

They might have eventually started - I will need to write to guest services. But at noon (through 1pm) they were definitely NOT taking it. I had a talk with a manager around 1:30 or so, as I was taking photos. At that time, he said they didn't have plans to accept it.

That may have changed afterwards (as there were some very upset people at the restaurant). They would not take my DDE card, they did take my friends DVC for a 10% discount, and they were taking the DDP.

I can't imagine this restaurant not accepting the DDE. With the exception of maybe 1 or 2 table service locations at Epcot, all theme park sit-downs accept it. Why wouldn't this one?

Because it's owned by Landry's which owns Rainforest Cafe. I'm really surprised they are participating in the Dining Plan, since Rainforests don't participate in the DP either.

Very interesting to see what they decide on this, Tiger :)

DDE isn't accepted by the Rainforest Cafe is it? I remember this was a problem when Raglin Road first opened too

Restaurants that don't take it tend to be Disney owned, though some non-Disney also take it. Yak and Yeti is not Disney owned.

I could tell it was a tough day yesterday for the servers/managers, as far as the DDE cards went. Imagine, a LOT of the people who went for the first day's lunch are local or passholders - there were quite a few people with DDE cards turned down. Whether they changed it later in the day, I don't know. But I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I felt bad for the servers, who were doing the best they could with it!

There was a group of 4 behind our table, I could tell they were upset about something (very), and a manager came out to talk to them. He told them to contact guest services. I don't know why that would help, but then I saw the DDE card on their table. I spoke with a different manager about the restaurant, and he didn't seem to think they'd take DDE at all. I hope they do start taking it.

DDE/DDP -- whatever. Same as 220/221 whatever it takes. Too many acronyms here. Well if they don't take Disney Dining Experience or Annual Pass discount I guess I won't be trying it any time soon!

"Contact guest services" is code for, "You know, I don't really want to talk to you anymore."

The more I think about it, I'm thinking that perhaps the Internet (more specifically, this board), has once again played into the confusion. The DIS specifically states that the restaurant will take the DDE card, so where did they get this info? I never once thought that this restaurant would take the card, since they are owned by Landry's - I have my Safari Card for Rainforests, as they don't take DDE or DP. If I would have been one of the patrons there yesterday, I wouldn't have gotten upset at all, since there are other restaurants that don't accept both DDE and DP as they aren't owned by Disney either. I may have been more upset though, as those people were, from reading it here on the Interent and getting my hopes up. I would have asked though BEFORE I sat down to eat, if it was a make or break situation for me.

Just a different spin on the situation - I know many of us Disers are very well versed on Disney, but honestly, I never would have expected this restaurant to take either DP or DDE or any other discount for that matter. We have it listed as a ? mark on our ADR sheet for our upcoming trip because not sure if they are participating in DDE or DP (currently we are doing Deluxe DP), as well as we were waiting on the menu to be posted.

Hopefully, they get the kinks worked out, but I really can't see them taking the DDE, because then RFC and the new T-Rex restaurant should really be taking it too, and that would be silly since they sell their own discount card. Disney really should have built their own restaurant in AK that woud have accepted all plans/promos, if it was going to be an issue. I wonder if this will see an increase at the Tusker House restaurant if this restaurant doesn't decide to accept the DDE card?

Tiger :)

An AP discount was reported. I wonder if that was correct.

I wonder if they will take the Rainforest card there - as it is owned by Landry's. That would be cool if they did.
