Yak and Yeti Menu Available

Wow, that new CS menu isn't even that good. No offense, but for CS that is very high priced for food and the options are rather pathetic. Even Lotus Blossom Cafe in Epcot has more to choose from and a better price.

I really was upset when Tusker House was being closed. That was the only place we all liked to eat at AK.

Looks like now we'll snack on french fries and eat elsewhere. There really isn't a very good selection of food at all at AK and I was hoping for better.

Though for the vegetarians, you can order Veggie Lo mein off the kids menu or ask for it with an adult sized portion at Yak & Yeti. It's listed there. Still... very disappointing IMO.

Is it just me or is this just your basic Chinese?
I'm not usually a complainer but I have to say I'm disappointed.

Jennifer
It's not just you, it does just look like basic Chinese...although me, myself, I'm a professional complainer ;-)
It's too bad, because the restaurant looks really pretty. On the other hand, I don't feel so badly about moving back to Boston now. When we left Orlando I was feeling badly that I was missing something. Now, not so much!

Anandapur purports to be a fictional place in India. And, yes, the menu appears to be just standard Chinese fare. We can eat really good Chinese here in NYC any day of the week for 1/4 the price. When I go to WDW, I want something a bit different.

I knew it was going to be "Pan-Asian" -- but this is a disappointment. I suppose they figure no one will patronize it if they offer Indian cuisine.

Oh well. It's a disappointment. But not surprising.

Oddly enough the lunch menu at the Tusker House buffet looks more authentic than the Yak & Yeti menu. They appear to have chicken curry, basmati rice, vegetable samosas and spiced tandoori tofu, among other items.

I think the menu looks great!! On the home page of this site...if you click on Yak and Yeti menu it has the lunch and dinner menu....also, that it is on the 2008 dining plan, AP 10% discount and accepts the DDE!!!

Please note: DDE (and this site) now lists Y&Y's status as "uncertain." At this point they are not accepting DDE.

Which would be great, if India were in Africa. ;)

-brian, who honestly doesn't care so much about the theme-appropriate menu offerings, so long as they are tasty.

Basic Chinese to me too, and I can get it better and cheaper here in Miami.:confused3 I really thought we would have a better variety, but I guess Disney is a little too scared to try...........:confused3

Can you post a link to the Tusker House menus? I've tried to do a search, but I'm not having any luck.

Y&Y is not a Disney restaurant. It is run by the Landry group, which runs the Rainforest Cafe and will run the new T-Rex restaurant at DTD.

Hey guys,

The counter Service restaurant serves the EXACT same food as the sit down restaurant at half the price. I don't remember all the options but I know it had stir fry and Honey Chicken and three other items. Its the exact same food except you sit outside and don't have a waiter. The Mango Pie is the dessert at the counter service restaurant.

I ate at the Yak and Yeti yesterday and really loved it. The food was great and the atmosphere felt really authentic. My server was awesome too. This is one of my new favorite restaurants. My only complaint is that I didn't get enough food. I thought the portions were really small, especially for the price.

When one goes out to eat ethnic food in India, it's usually Chinese food, so at least that is somewhat authentic!

The Tusker House buffet does seem to have a broader range for us veggies, and a few more ethnic inspired items. I suppose that I will be eating there in future

If it were just DH and I --I would have loved Indian cuisine. However, with the family in tow, the menu looks "friendly". After years of avoiding Nine Dragons we tried it last year and my kids went crazy for it! I think they will like this even more. And the decor is just outstanding. Yep, we'll probably give it a try.

I plan on trying the CS when we go in Dec. The menu does not appeal to dh or our younger ds, so it will be just me & older ds trying it. I am looking forward to it, the honey chicken sounds yummy!

I was attracted to Tusker House's menu but think $24 for lunch is too much. It seems they're charging a $4 Holiday price even though we wouldn't be going on a Holiday.

On edit: Grammar error.

Kay, I agree, especially after eating 3x in the past month at the new Cafe Agrabah in Disneyland Paris. That was something really special in terms of food quality and the restaurant itself, and they had a vast vegetarian array on the buffet. For 21 Euros total I had a large buffet, aperatif, and bottle of mineral water (service included). That is a very reasonable cost for a meal in France, and especially so for a buffet.

I was fortunate to be there during the opening of the 'new' restaurant, and was hoping to see something along the same lines at either Tusker House or Yak and Yeti.

I suppose that I will just need to keep going back to Disneyland Paris for a decent veggie meal! ;)

Holiday pricing for Tusker House is from 11/18 to 11/24 (holiday is 11/22) and 12/16 to 1/5 (holidays 12/25/and 1/1). They're going for raising the prices for buffet meals on the most popular times associated with the holiday, rather than just the holiday itself.

Hey staceyshearrion - you have one of my paintings for your icon, hehe! Happy you like her =)

RE: Vegetarian - I'm completely puzzled too at the lack of a SINGLE MEATLESS ENTREE at both the counter service and the Yak & Yeti full service. I'm very disappointed - every other sit-down place at Disney is good at having a vegetarian option.

Yes, I know I can get the kid's vegetable lo mein, technically. But when I go in with my vegetarian husband, my sisters & their vegetarian families, and other extended friends and family members who are also all vegetarian - it's a little ridiculous and maybe a little embarassing to have every single adult & child at the table order the "kids noodles".

Just one entree - I'm not picky - just one, Disney!

Hopefully this will change, if enough people ask about it. That's what happened with Raglan Road at Downtown Disney - in the beginning they had not a single entree, but since then they have gone through a couple of them, hot & cold.

AK since opening has not had much veggie selection. The noodle stand near Yak and Yeti didn't have a veggie option for quite some time. One day I asked and the CM said 'you aren't one of those freaky animal rights people, are you???" :scared1:

I have always said that it was ironic that the park which promotes animal conservation is so poor at offering veggie choices! And with Tusker House turned into buffet, there is one less counter service option for us. I have never eaten at Flame Tree, and I don't eat American pizza, so I really doubt that I will be eating counter service any time soon in AK...

BUT I do foresee trying Tusker House at least once

Usually after visiting AK I go to AKL and buy hummus and pita chips at the Mara - I convinced them to put them on the menu, and they apparently are a very popular item...

Just spoke with a CM about the DDP and according to their brochure for '08 it's listed on the DDP for both CS and TS. I'm still on the fence about it though.
