Seriously - it's an interesting trip, and getting there is usually beautiful!
(Isn't it amazing how people who live in the Bay Area haven't done all of the "touristy" stuff!)

I've been to Alcatraz. It was really interesting, though it was very very very windy!!!!!!!!!!!!! We went to Angel Island first before taking thew boat to Alcatraz Island. Be sure to get the audio tour it is really worth it. I had just walked into one of the open cells when a cell door banged shut on the tape, very freaky moment.

Make sure to buy your tickets in advance, definitely do the audio tour, and bring along a sweatshirt or sweater no matter what the temperature is elsewhere in the city.

Yeah I bought the tickets already thats why I am so excited... LOL because everytime we try to go it's always sold out YAHoooo.... oh and I did get the audio tour too.... plus as an added bonus... there is a bird preserve on the island... I hit the jackpot

I would love to go to Alcatraz. We toured Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia and it was fascinating. Have fun.

We just did Alcatraz about 2 weeks ago. Was VERY windy & the fog was in too, so you couldn't see anything from the island. We were also pushed for time, so had to do a rush tour of it........but it is quite similar to one we have over here called Trial Bay Gaol. We've visited it a couple of times.

Have a good time tho...hope it's not too windy or too foggy.

The Alcatraz tour is one of the best tours I have ever done, and I do them all when I travel!!!
