Just a suggestion... the next time there is a hurricane you might want to take down the trampoline.

Hurricanes easily spawn tornados. A loose trampoline in a hurricane or tornado could cause some serious damage.

If you can get outside safely, you should lash it down somehow. Sounds like that could be a very dangerous projectile. Imagine if it flew and landed on a person.

My husband hates our trampoline. If I told him about this he'd say another reason to get rid of it. Even though we live in New York where hurricanes and tornandos are not common.

I was reading an article about the newest storm Jeane in Puerto Rico. I was laughing so hard I cried....and felt very guilty afterwards.
The story was about how strong the winds were, a home's roof blew off, and blew a woman out of her hammock and threw her into the outside wall if her neighbors house. :eek:

What in the world was she doing in a HAMMOCK?! I just couldn't stop picturing that.

I felt bad for laughing though because I read on and the woman died.

So I would say the trampoline would hurt if it blew into someone. But if trampolines are flying around you would think people would be smart enough to stay inside!
Although it could blow into a house or car or something.

I'm wondering why you didn't secure it before the storm? In my neighborhood we have written rules that ANYTHING outside and not "nailed down" must be brought inside before a storm. Patio furniture may be thrown into the pool if you prefer. We even took the large hanging porch light down and stored it in our garage before Frances came through. Just common sense!

If you can't take the trampoline inside, then at least turn it upside down where it will be less likely to become a sail, and use stakes to secure it to the ground. And keep in mind that if your trampoline damages someone else's property or injures someone, you will be liable for damages.

For the life of me, I cannot imagine why you DID NOT disassemble the trampoline. :confused:

I don't understand why we would throw furniture into the pool. However we brought ours into the lanai and secured it against the house and then tied it down securely. Everybody here brought in anything loose including garbage cans. It's not a rule but it's just common sense. The others are right. Think how you would feel if your trampoline hit another person (unlikely that someone would be out in the storm but you never know) or damaged someone else's property. Tie it down please.

I suspect that was her bed. It's very common in tropical countries to sleep in one.
