Xmas tree in room?

Hi guys! I decided against buying a $200+ xmas tree from the Disney Florist for our resort room (what a budget breaker  ). However, I still love the idea of surprising my mom with a tree in our room. I went by Target today and they have some really cute 2 foot, fully decorated trees for only $19.99! They even come in cute little stands. Is there a Target near WDW or should I buy one at home and bring it with me? It is a rather small box and pretty light considering it is fully decorated. I just don't want to give up the surprise by bringing it along when we head to the airport. Any thoughts? Thanks!

:)

Ship it to your resort...make a call ahead of time letting them know to expect it and on the box note your arrival date.

Thanks! Just realized I posted this on the wrong board, too! :)

Misti, if it is small enough, consider taking it with you and putting it in the overhead bin on your airplane. That way you know that it will arrive safely and won't get lost in transit. My fear with telling you to buy it once you're in Orlando is that the store might be sold out of it, and then you'd have to waste precious vacation time trying to find another one at another store. Just a thought.

Have a magical vacation!

Okay, you don't want your mom to "see" it when you're traveling together. Then how 'bout packing it into your suitcase? Or packing it into a tote bag that you can place in the overhead bin? You could always wrap it in birthday paper and tell your mom that you're meeting up with a friend while on vacation and it is your friend's birthday (or some other white lie along those lines).

Thanks, Janet. :) I think that may be a good idea about wrapping it up in a special bag. I'm afraid to put actual wrapping paper on it b/c of airport security.

I was actually considering just going with the WDW Florist and telling my mom she could keep the tree as a xmas gift. It is just so darn expensive. Wish I could see a pic of it to see if was worth it.

Anyway, thanks for the tips and have a great holiday weekend! :)

The Disney Florist Christmas Trees are Gorgeous!! BUT and this is a BIG BUT...I know that many people have had a hard time getting them home safely without any breakage. Stick with your tree you got at Target. You could have it shipped to the resort. I recommend that you spend the extra money to send it FedEx so that you don't have any damage and you know it will be there when you arrive. If you find a really nice CM, they might even be willing to have it in your room for you. It's worth a shot!

If you are familliar with the Orlando area.... there is a Target about 2 miles North of the Orlando mall, headed towards the airport. From the Disney resort area it is probably a 25/30 minute drive though.

Thanks, guys! :)

I went on-line and found a Target in Kississimee. I think I'm going to try my luck and see if they have them in stock. That way, I won't have to worry about lugging it around.

Have a great holiday everyone! :)

Misti, that is wonderful news. By the way, if Target doesn't have the tree, what sort of notice does Disney Florist need in order to get a tree over to your resort room pronto? Just wondering (I'm trying to give you Plan B in case your Plan A falls through)...

I was wondering the same thing! I wish princessangel had a laptop to give us details of her tree and how quickly it was delivered, etc. Lucky duck--she is there now!

I actually fully intended on bringing a little tree with me. But, things got crazy yesterday and I never got around to it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Target in FL. :)

Have a great weekend!

There is also a Target superstore in Hunter's Creek just off the Greenway(417)15-20 min.

Well, if your luck is like mine by the time you get to Kissimmee they will be all gone. I would snatch one right now, today, before your store is out of them, and ship it to the resort. I know from experience too many times that if I wait to buy something, there are none left when I go back.
