Hi everyone. I have a friend who is thinking about going between Xmas and New Years. Any input on pros and cons would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance! :wave2:

The pros, there is no place that I would rather be to celebrate the holidays then in WDW. The cons, it is crowded, very very crowded. However, if you plan accordingly as we do, we have a great time. Our secret to planning during the holidays is not to plan at all, that way we are never disappointed. ::MickeyMo

Well, I've been there the past couple of Christmas weeks, and will be there again this year, and I think the pro is that there are special things going on that week, like the daily holiday parade and holiday shows, and holiday displays at the resorts, that you don't have to pay extra for above your park ticket. Plus the holiday decorations, and just the feel of being there on the actual holiday(s). Also the parks are usually open later. The big con is that it's very very (read VERY) crowded. Expect a mob scene. You won't be able to see as many of the attractions each day as you would virtually any other time of the year. Also the resorts are the most expensive during that time. I guess it just depends on the person's preferences.

The week between christmas and new year's is the absolute most crowded week of the year. As long as your friends go with that in mind, they'll have a great time and will probably love the holiday atmosphere.

If this is a first trip, or a trip where they're trying to get on a lot of rides in a short time, this is not the week to do that!

The holidays are one of the the most beautiful time of the year to be in Disney. The decorations in the parks and at the resorts as well as the special parades and activities just add to the Disney magic. While I agree it is a very busy time, my motto is, "anytime you can go to Disney you should".

My family will arrive at WDW the afternoon of New Year's Day. Any input on if the crowds will have thinned out by then would be appreciated!

New Year's Day is a Saturday this year, so crowds won't start thinning until Jan 2 or 3.

We have been for the past 2 years at this week. We are also veterans of many WDW visit and still love going at this time. the holiday stuff is amazing! Every park and resort is worth seeing! We don't try to kamakaze tour that week, but we use FP and roll with the flow..we also stop for special holiday show, etc. Last year we arrived on 12/27 and went to MK around 3 and the only attrations we did were HH and POC and Buzz. We saw the christmas parade, watched Mickey's night before christmas show in Tomorrowland(great!) ate dinner at cindy castle, watched stage show in front of castle, watched wishes, and then second Spectro parade. We felt is was a great trip to MK even without all our favorites! We have not gone to MK on NYE because it is the most crowded and has closed to all guest(even resort) by 10am. so if you want to be there, get there early, plan to stay(no park hopping) and if there are any PS left(most made them at 90days)get one. You will be in alot of company at all the parks. We found AK fine until 12 or so. MGM was always ok if you used FP and Epcot was long line and out of FP for biggies like TT and MS by10am. Just go with the notion you will not see it all. What you see is amazing! We are returning 12.25-12/31/04 and heading to HHI for NYE on our way home to Boston.
