ok so I had my week all planned 12/2-12/9. My DMtells me tonight that she would like to come with us but she would rather go 11/18-11/25. My whole reason for going is to see the holiday decorations..what is there to see at this time .. it happens to be the sat before thanksgiving to the sat after.
Thanks everyone

According to posts from people who were there in 2005 (unfortunately I'm not one of them!) decoration start going up in early-to-mid November. They are not all in place by then, but it appears that if you go from the 18th to the 25th you'll see a good deal of decorations.

We were there a few years ago during Thanksgiving week and all the decorations were up on Wednesday at MK and Friday for Epcot. It was awesome to see WDW all decked out for the holidays.

We were there NOV 2-9 2003 and they started putting up the decorations on the 3rd or 4th day. I know it was a couple of years ago but i am sure they probably do it about the same time every year. Dont forget the 1st christmas party at MK is usually NOV 26 or 27 so i am sure all of disney will be decked out with christmas decorations by then. Have a good time. :)

we were there 1 year the day after thanksgiving and everything was up. So I'd say yes they are there the week of thanksgiving

We were there this past Thanksgiving from 11/22 - 11/28 and quite a lot was up!

Almost 100% of the holiday decorations will be up, in the resorts as well as the parks. But, the holiday celebrations won't be starting until Thanksgiving...I believe the Candlelight Processional starts that night, or the Friday following. Same thing with MVMCP and perhaps the storytellers in Epcot. And it is very busy from Wed-Sun, with Thanksgiving day, Fri and Sat being hugely busy.
If I were you I would try to talk my mom into going on 12/2..much nicer crowd level, you'll be able to take a slower pace and do more.

The osborne lights are still up at MGM. I guess they just leave them up all year. They dont turn them on though.

From what I understand the decorations are up at that time. Also you can see CP at Epcot, Osbourne lights at MGM, & MVMCP if you are lucky and it starts the day after Thanksgiving. Good Luck & Have fun

The Candlelight Processional starts the day after Thanksgiving. And they don't start lighting the decorations at Epcot before then. Most of the decorations are up by Thanksgiving week. We watched them decorate the ginger bread carrousel at the BC on the Monday before Thanksgiving in 2004. That was very cool, they worked all day putting it together.
