Hello everyone,

This will be my first trip to Disney for Xmas day.
My plan is to go to Magic Kingdom and stay for lunch or dinner.
What has everyone else done in the past?
Wouls it be best to just stay amd have lunch then try to get into another park or maybe go to a waterpark lateron. Just a bit unsure as to what to expect really. Some people say its a night mare at the magic Kingdom. I would love to hear of other peoples itinerys etc.
Many thanks

Sarah.

Unless you plan on being there when MK opens I wouldn't bother. MK closes very early in the day due to the crowds. The lines will be long but if there are only a few rides I would do them first and then you could always hop to another park.

Are you staing onstie or off. Onsite you can get in by 10/10;30 and you'll be OK.

Most important thing is to get your PS. You will not eat anywhere Christmas Week without a PS. Personally, NYEve is much worse then Christmas Day. I think you'll be fine.

We were at MK this past Christmas. We got there for opening, walked right on 4 rides with no waits, then had breakfast in the castle. After breakfast I made a phone call home to family, before we left MK for the day. As stated above, it was very crowded by this point and mobs of people were pouring in. We spent the rest of day resort hopping and mini golfing. In the evening we took a sleigh ride at the WL.

Glad you found us,the other folks have given you some good advice.Arrive early and do a few rides, get a PS for early lunch and then I would go to another park after lunch.Have a magical trip::yes:: :wave2:

Welcome to the Dis Sarah:wave: I would say it depends on your objective for going on 12/25. If you wish to tour the park and enjoy the attractions, maybe an hour or two in the morning then get the heck outta there:D If you are going to soak up the atmosphere of being at WDW on Christmas day, watch the parade, mingle with hoards of people enjoying their holiday, then go for it. Our family was at WDW on Christmas day a couple of years ago. We just went to see what it was like. It's packed, but as long as you won't mind missing some attractions due to long lines, it's ok.:earsboy:

I think we're pretty decided now finally, lol. Our plan is to get to MK for the opening ceremony. My understanding is that often Disney changes the hours Christmas week to 8am opening and since we're at the Poly, we can monorail on over pretty early. We plan to ride our faves (the Mountains!), maybe watch Philharmagic and do a few Adventureland attractions, then monorail to Chef Mickey's for a late bkft. Chef Mickey's will presumably do as last year and have a breakfast brunch and serve til 1pm. We plan to shoot for an 11am PS so we can get out of Dodge while the crowds amass. In the afternoon, we will probably go to a matinee at DD. Sounds odd perhaps but we see a movie Christmas day while we're home so we figured we'd carry on the tradition. In the early evening (4:30ish) we'll head over to Epcot for the Candlelight Processional and finish the evening there. Yep, I'm starting to like this plan more and more!

Oh, the Florida temps in December are hit or miss. I would not consider a water park unless it's in the 80's but I know many like to swim in much cooler weather than me. I've been known to wear a sweater in restaurants as I'm usually chilly, lol. I've been told to pack and wear layers of clothing as the temps change alot from morning to night.

Sounds like a great plan!
You are right about the temps. We were there last year from the 20th-29th. We went from 1 night wearing winter coats and mittens, and still being very cold, to wearing bathing suits and swimming 1 day. In general we made it into shorts most days and then pants and a light jacket at night, but like I said, there were even exceptions to that.
