XM radio Renewal amount...ARE THEY FREAKIN NUTS!!!!

I am on my second 5 months' at @ $23. I canceled our portable XM radio and kept the one in the car. They offered the deal on our car radio and I took it. Called to cancel it after the first 5 months and they offered it to me again. I need to call and 'try' to cancel it again soon... :lmao:

I was kind of hoping for that when I called to cancel the XM in my mini-van, but nope no offer of any kind.

I just renewed for the fourth time at the $77 plus fees rate. (about $89 for a year) Each year I call and tell them that if they don't give me the same rate as last year then I am done with them. This year it took a little longer and I had to actually tell them to cancel it.

I also have the "original" lifetime plan. I have had Sirius since 2004 and purchased the lifetime plan in 2007. I have 3 transfers and web streaming but I do NOT have the phone app. I'd have to pay $2.99 a month to get it and I won't do it. Listening in my car (and I also use my receiver in the house and on our boat) and on the computer at work is good enough. I'll listen to my downloaded music on my phone!

We allowed ours to expire and the fee was something like $15.00 or $25 to reconnect, it was waived though after my husband told them he was not paying them for doing nothing but pushing a button :rotfl2:

Thank you

We have two accounts with the XM Radio, and pay $77 plus tax on each account. Though every year I get billed the higher amount and have to call and speak with someone in the retention dept to get that price. I also use one of my credit cards that will expire before the renewal comes up, this way they have to bill me for the upcoming year.

We did the lifetime renewal of Sirius in my 09 Jeep in June. It was $535 no transfers. I got them to waive the royalty fees because they had raised prices but I had been originally quoted the old price.

DH just got a 11 Kia Sorento... It only came with 3 months. Not looking forward to renewing his...

I just called to cancel my service and was offered 5 months @ $20.34 for the 5 month period. I took it.

My father in law was talking about this at Christmas. He said every time he get his renewal its gone up and he calls in and asks them to keep him at his old rate. (not sure what it is) And they always say they can't do that so he says he wants to cancel. Then they transfer him so he can cancel and those people end up giving him a better deal then he was trying to get to begin with.

He made it sound so funny too. He says if the people you initially talk to had some authority to do something/anything for you they would make more money off of him. But instead they say they can't do what he's asking and when he talks to the cancelation people he ends up getting a better deal then he was trying for to begin with. He said now he just tells them right away he wants to cancel because he knows he'll get the best deal that way.

I too am on the 5mos. for $20 program. Every 5 months the day before renewal (I mark it on my calendar!) I call and they renew at the same rate. No problems or hassle ever! Just call and say your friend only pays ... and they will match it!

I do the same thing. I just renewed for another 5 months for $23.05. I mark it on my calendar and call the day before it expires.

After reading these posts I called today. I asked if it would be cheaper to pay for a year, and they offered me $142 instead of $176, and I was all "You know, that's still pretty expensive, I think I want to cancel."

And then they sent me over to account retention who offered me a year for $88, so that means I can put those other two $44 payments (I was paying quarterly) directly into our Disney savings! ;)
