In the middle of planning a last minute mother-daughter trip to WDW (leaving in less than 2 weeks!), dh and middle ds decided that they just "might" like to accompany us. We all piled into a CBR room last fall (more storage than most of the regular rooms), were waayyyy too crowded in our one POP room at the beginning of that trip, and were nearly as crowded in our shared AKL room last July. I've realized that it's time to face the fact that we MUST have more space. Sadly, most (maybe all) of our WDW trips are planned at the last moment...when 1- and 2-bedroom dvc units are either not available or we'd have to hop around to several throughout our stay. Thus, I'm considering a stay at WBC. My gut says this would be a good choice for us -- plenty of space, washer and dryer, refrigerator with freezer (for ice cream snacks!), plenty of pools for the kids to explore, etc. As PAP holders, we do not have to pay to park at the WDW parks; and as TiW holders, we have free valet parking when we dine at the resorts. Typically, we only use Disney transport to MK. (None of us can stand being crowded on the buses like livestock!) However, it's nice to know it's there. Also, we tend to get tired of the quick service food at our resort very, very quickly...but, again, it's nice to know it's there. Should we break from our tradition of staying on-site??

Also PAP, TIW holders and we loved our trip to WBC. The location is awesome and we loved the space, kitchen, washer/dryer, lots of pools, balcony looking at the lake. I never missed housekeeping or the food courts. I would return in a heart beat. For the first time in 8 years I'm haven't booked our 10 day September trip. I'm actually leaning towards WBC or breaking it up into several shorter trips onsite (DD doing DCP so waiting to see if any good discounts).

Even though we stay onsite about half the time (5-6 weeks a year) we have found ourselves using the resort food courts, even the pools less and less. Often we head to DTD for Wolfgang Puck Express or offsite for a Chickfila or pizza run rather than the food courts when we aren't doing a table service. I understand what you are feeling. Since you are PAP holders, I would try it this trip and see how you like it, especially if all of you are going.

After staying many times at every type of Disney resort over the years while living in NH, we started renting offsite when we moved to FL and became AP. Frequenting the Disboards I had heard of WBC but had never stayed there because I thought it would be too expensive. Last Dec I found a great rate on Ebay that was actually cheaper than staying at our usual Windsor Hills. Since then we have returned 4 times and have a trip planned for the end of June. It is the PERFECT alternative to staying onsite. The condos are absolutely beautiful, pools and landscaping are great and the location cannot be beat. We have already decided as a family that we dont want to stay anywhere else!!

SkyAuction has some deals for WBC right now, that is who I booked via last time. Last night I booked a 2 bedroom deluxe in December (week before christmas) for $619 total. That is $88 per night, for a two bedroom I'm pretty excited. They do buy it now or auction, I've done it both ways. Always scroll to bottom for extra fees/taxes/SkyAuction fee and surcharges for special weeks. Last time I did auction, won for $1 plus fees ended up $320 for a week.
