Can anyone tell me about Wyndham hotel at Lake Buena Vista? It says it has been renovated --was formerly Regal Sun Resort. Thanks

I'm considering this hotel as well. Have there been any reports since the change over to wyndham?
Thanks!

Just stayed there during Thanksgiving. Outside room approx $60.00 per night. Was a little scared after reading online reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Room was good size for 2 adults and 1 teenager. Newly renovated, new carpet, small fridge, coffee maker. Bathroom clean and updated. Even though we had an outside room it was very quiet. We did not use transportation as we drove to the parks ourselves. Nice pool area and snack bar. Walked about 1/2 block to Downtown disney 2 nights. Parking easy and convienent. Excellent room for the cost. Only problem was no towels after cleaning on Thanksgiving Day, called front desk and towels were delivered in about 15 minutes.

I would be curious to also hear some opinions....I found a good rate for March but I think we would prefer to be in the tower.

We just returned from a stay here before a cruise. It was a nice hotel. Most of the interior appeared to be recently renovated while some of the exterior was work was still ongoing.

We had 4 rooms. 2 connecting for us and the kids. 1 normal room for one of grandparents and a HC accessible room for the other grandparents. The HC room was in the lower section because it was more accesssible. The others were in the tower with a Disney view. It was kind of cool to be able to see the Epcot fireworks at night, especially after arriving after dark on the first night.

I have a few complaints.
1) the pool was cold. I had asked and was told it was a heated pool to a temperature in the mid 80s. The day we were there it was not even close to that. I have a feeling it may have been recently drained (for cleaning?) and hadn't warmed back up yet. I stuck my hand in the morning we were going to leave and it was much better. It was too bad we didn't get to swim because it the water was too cold. It is a really nice pool. We did still enjoy the hot tub.

2) The price of the hotel was very reasonable but the guest charges seemed high. We got the room for only $63, with the Disney view so I was very happy with that. But I want to say that it was on the order of $25. This was to cover the parking, transportation, activities. Just be warned to factor that into the cost. Overall, I think it was a very good deal.

3) There were large AC units outside the HC room and were very loud. This was in the lower wing on the left side as you check in. I would avoid this area of the hotel if you can.

All in all, I thought it was a very nice hotel and I have a feeling that Wyndham will continue to improve on it. It is a very short walk to Downtown Disney. Parking is easy. You are close to everything but it is a nice peaceful area. It was definately not very crowded when we were there.
There is a little self-serve coffee shop in the lobby that is a good quick alternative for breakfast. They didn't have anything fancy just coffee, juice, cereal, bagels and such. The morning we ate in the coffee shop, there was also a character breakfast for an additional cost, which we decided not to do.

I would also recommend to anyone that is thinking of staying here to sign up for their Wyndham by request mailer. By doing so you have to deal with a weekly email about their specials. But you can put in a request for a welcome platter in your room. I had signed up a few years ago and forgot all about any perks with it. When we arrived each room (I made all the reservations), had a fruit plate with about 5 pieces of fruit and 2 bottles of water and 2 sodas. It was a pleasent surprise after getting in late.

Wow I thought I found a good price...$79 but no Disney view.

The resort fee is only $8....I don't know why they would charge you $25. I got that price right from the Wyndham website. I don't even think the Hilton across the street charges that much..

Anyway, we found a fantastic deal at the Hilton Bonnet Creek so we will be there.

The resort fee is only $8.....

I checked again, you are correct. The resort fee was $8. But there was more than $17 of tax on a $63 room. Oh well can't do much about the tax. Don't get me wrong, I was very happy with the price that I paid for the room and hotel.

I'm not sure how I lucked into the Disney view. I had booked the cheapest available, which was the lower units. I think it was probably a combination of booking multiple rooms (giving them more business), the hotel appearing very empty and being Wyndyham by Request member.

There is something wrong with that...the tax is only 12.5%. They do add in the resort fee before the taxes but even with that your taxes should have been $8.88. When I was pricing out the nights we were going to stay there the Dis view was an extra $10....they might have charged you for the view.

I'm staying there in 2 weeks and contacted the hotel about concerns I had.

1) The staff was extremely helpful and went over board to remedy my issues

2) They confirmed that Wyndham took over operations last Nov and have been working to fix up the hotel. All new bedding, so the horrible fire engine red bedspreads over the green dust ruffle are history.

3) The base rate has a $15 resort charge added to it to cover the bus to the parks, and other expenses (they are still considered an "official" hotel of wdw, even if you no longer get Magic Extra Hours starting in 2011.

I just checked the Pop Century for one of the nights we will be down there (10/07/2011). The Pop Century rate was $125 for the night (not including taxes.) Room size at the Pop is 210 square feet (it's tiny.)

At the Wyndham LBV, a much larger room (320 sq feet), newly redecorated, with a Disney View and amenities only offered by Disney in their deluxe hotels is under $100 including the resort fee and taxes. AND you are right across the street from Downtown Disney (you can walk there) versus being in no-man's land where Disney puts their moderate and value hotels. To me it's a no brainer!

Just got back from an 8 day stay at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. They are renovating like crazy which can cause some inconvenience, however overall it was great.

Gone are the horrible red bedspreads from the Regal Sun days. Here are pictures of our tower rooms:

The kids loved the towel animals on the bed

The windows go wall to wall so you have a great view of the Epcot Fireworks.

For less than the cost of a value resort room at Disney, you get a luxury resort with all the amenities: Room service (with real food, not just pizza), a nice sized room, large refrigerator, large flat screen tv, sep. closet with sliding mirrored doors etc.

Since the hotel does a lot of conventions, there is a business center (you need to pay to use it -- I spent $5 for pc access and printer charges to check in online, print out 5 boarding passes and schedule a fed ex pick up for two boxes I'm shipping home.)

There are renovation pains with contractors closing off areas without notifying guests and the hotel should keep guests better informed about whats going on. While I was there two garden wings were shut down for renovations and the contractor closed off the guest laundry. A hotel staff member had to tell the contractor this was not allowed and he escorted another woman over to the laundry to get her clothes. They did make arrangements for guest to use the laundry at the next resort but that is inconvenient and I was not willing to walk to the next hotel with my dirty clothes in tow. However, this should be resolved within the next week or two.

If you sign up for Wyndham Rewards (free, online) you'll get private sale rates that are really cheap. I paid under $85/night (including the resort fee and taxes) for a tower room with Disney View.

The rooms were comperable in size to the Contemporary Resort and well appointed. The soaps/lotions/shampoo were from Bath and Body Works' Spa line and large enough for a week's use.

The self service food area is reasonably priced and I chucked to see the local police there every night having dinner and finishing up their shift reports. (The hotel is very safe and they even include free in room safes for you to use.)

The hotel has luxury touches you only find at high end resorts like feather pillows and triple sheeted comforter on the bed. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well.

Overall it's a tremendous value for the money and I highly recommend them.

Nice feedback & report on your stay. I had this DTD hotel scratched off our list for a trip in June 2012 but I might have to check it out again. I would hope they have many of the renovations completed by next June. The room photos are very nice. They need to update their website & facebook page soon.
