So this afternoon I received a notification on my phone from indeed (the job site app).

It's an offer to apply for a position.

I open the offer.

It's from the HR Manager from my own company, offering me to apply for my own position. o_O:oops::D

No, they're not looking to fire me. They're desperately trying to hire more staff because we're woefully understaffed.

So what's your next move? Ignore it??? Respond???? What would you say?????

ps. they're hiring now, much higher than when I was hired....

I would seriously do this. And then I would ask my boss why I'm not being paid this much already if this is what the job is worth.
I would absolutely sit down with your boss to negotiate a better salary …there’s nothing wrong with doing that. I’m assuming they’ll probably want you to help when new employees need it. I had a similar situation and got myself an increase before they hired anyone else. Discuss it in a positive manner and most managers would appreciate the honesty.

I read that as current hire salary is higher than it was when OP was hired, not what the OP is making now...

If I'm wrong, and it's the way the other posters say, I don't know what to do with that. I would be furious.

Its both..

Its both..
So the new hires, doing the same role you're doing now would make more money than you currently do? um yea, you need to talk to your boss.

My next question is how do you know how much they're offering to new hires? If it's part of that "indeed offer to apply", pay close attention. Does it say "hires can earn UP TO $x" or "may earn $x", or any other kind of weasel words? If you actually know, then again, talk to the boss.

I'm assuming your Indeed profile tripped whatever triggers and they sent your basics to HR. Depending on the size of the company and how common your name is, HR may not even realize it's you.

Some states now require that job listings show either the actual pay or a realistic range for the position.
