I'll be going to Home Depot after work today to pick up my LGMHPC's - I think I'll grab some other colors too and make a countdown chart for the kids. They can pull one off every day. They also make excellent bookmarks and are great for scrapbooking! I wasn't sure if people put them in windows at SSR - I know I've put them in our windows at the values and at POFQ when I went with a group of DISers I made them for everyone's doors. I'll be busy putting my name on them this weekend, hey I need something to do to keep me busy until 8/31! I'll have to keep my eyes on the windows at SSR, maybe we'll see each other!

M2DD's: The Body Glide feels like nothing when you put it on. It turns just a little bit powdery like a stick deodorant. It has no scent and is not slippery or wet. If I feel like I'm getting a blister or a sore spot from my Crocs, I just rub it on and it immediately feels better! I wear Crocs without socks at WDW and don't get too sweaty. I did find that with my black Crocs I got sweaty, but it's not an issue with my red or khaki ones. The Body Glide also seems to help keep from getting sweaty too. It truly is amazing stuff! What part of the Midwest are you in? I'm just outside of Kansas City and yesterday it was 107 on my mom's back patio. :scared: I'm thinking FL will feel downright refreshing after the heatwave we've been having! Ok not really, but it has been a little cooler in FL than here. Of course it's more humid in FL, but who cares? We'll be in Disney World!!

LanaJae: I picked up a tube of the Monistat anti-chafing stuff at WalMart, it was on clearance! :woohoo: I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it might be good for my thighs. Last year I got my jean shorts soaked on Splash Mountain on our 1st of 10 days, and I had horrible chafing for the rest of the trip. I'm not even all that big, but I had to keep going to 1st aid to stock up on huge bandaids - my whole thighs were open sores! Oops, sorry that was probably waaaaay too much TMI wasn't it? The chafing nearly ruined my trip. I'm going to try the Monistat and see which one I like better. I do like that the Monistat is in a tiny tube, smaller to carry around and the less junk in my bag, the better! I didn't know it was slippery though, I'll have to remember that and not smear it all over my feet.

I don't know if they put the LGMHPC's in the windows at SSR either, but then again, this is our first trip to WDW (well, the last time I went was in 1989), as a family. I really don't care anyway, it's all in good fun and a good way to make new friends. Especially if people see them and don't know what they are, it's a good conversation piece. It's "the DIZ" advertising. I'll be looking for them, now that I know what they are. I love the DIZ. I have found out more information on these forums, than anywhere else. Thank you everyone :thumbsup2

oh my word! I just recieved a free sample of the monastat chaffing in the mail and had a $1.50 coupon went to walmart and picked up a package on clearance awesome, I am so ready with all my freebies on the freebie boards I am ready for my dream vacation!!!! counting down

Okay -- you guys have got me worried now! I hadn't even thought about using any kind of anti-chaffing products because I've never had a problem with it before. Are you mainly buying it to use on your feet because you wear shoes without socks, or the inner-thigh area? Good Golly Miss Molly...my shopping list just keeps getting longer and longer! Of course, my biggest challenge is the fact that we only use roll-on luggage so I'm really hindered by the 3oz. liquid rules.

Me again... I was just thinking that after some of us "upgraders" get back, we should start a thread to post about our trips. Sort of mini-trip reports, a place to share our experiences while we were there, just like now we're sharing our thoughts and anticipation about going. I just don't think other people understand the extra level of excitement about this fantastic upgrade, it really adds a whole other dimension of magic to this trip!!

I wonder how many of us will come back as DVC owners? ;)

Of course I'll be back to talk about our trip but I think I may be one of the last ones to get back.We arrive home september 11th so keep me in mind when you guys get back it will be a while before I respond.I was just thinking about how much I hate to leave WDW but I love the feeling of sleeping in my bed the first night we get back. My kids go back to school on monday so the next 2 wks will go by fast.I'll also have some time to myself while the kids are in school to pack and get ready.:thumbsup2
It seems that most people upgraded to SSR and not OKW.I wonder why?Eitherway its going to be awsome.Anybody going on a DVC tour?We are but I don't think will buy in this yr because we may wait and see what happens with the CR if its going to turn ito a DVC or not.
2 wks from today I'll be eating at CMickey for lunch(has anyone had there lunch before)
Laura

Laura -- I feel one of the reasons more people upgraded to SSR is simply because there was more availability there. Also, the fact that it is the newest DVC location may have been a factor. No worries though -- OKW is great!

I just finished ordering some bottled water from Costco and will stop my mail and the paper next as we leave in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday...hard to believe we are less than a week away now. We have a four night pre-stay at POFQ first as the airfare was a lot cheaper for us to fly out on the 22nd...plus my kids start school the day after Labor Day, so I wanted to spend as much time @ WDW as possible without them missing any school. I have already warned my family: no table-service meals until the 26th, so I'm glad POFQ has a nice food court. :goodvibes

9 days until we leave and 10 days until we check into OKW! I can't tell you how excited we are...or least myself. My family better have a great time or some heads will roll :) Can't wait to be on the DIS watch around OKW...

I have a few ? about the bottle water you ordered from cosco.(maybe a lot of ?'s)
How many bottles did you order? And what was your total with shipping and tax?Did you have a problem with entering your address at SSR.
How long before you leave did you order it?Did they tell you when it will arrive? How did you address it?
I told you lots of ? As you can tell I have never had water shipped before.I have 1 more ? why cosco over staples is one cheaper than the other?
Laura
TIA

Almost there !!! I am just so excited .... and I agree we need a thread started for all of us to report on after our fabulous upgraded and free food vacations!!

Wishing you all a great trip !! :goodvibes

I would also like to know exactly how you word the shipping if you order over the computer. I heard in another post that costco was about $7 and free shipping while staples you had to pay shipping. I need to do some research because I would like some bottled water for the parks :) that doesn't cost $2.50 a bottle!

I picked Costco because there are no shipping charges if you order it from the business delivery link on the home page. The bottled water is Nestle brand and it will actually be whatever "spring water" they have regionally. A case of 24 is $6.98 (I believe there is a 5 or 10% surcharge if you are not a member). I placed one order yesterday that will be shipped to POFQ for our pre-stay, and will place another order Tuesday evening before we leave to be shipped to OKW. Here is how I will address the second order (this would be line by line):
LISA
DOE, ARV. 8/22/07
CONF. #.........
DISNEY'S OLD KEY WEST RESORT
1510 NORTH COVE ROAD
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL 32830

I actually placed the first order a little sooner than I needed to because the confirmation did not give an actual ship date. My intention was for it to arrive 1 or 2 days before we do as I didn't want the resort to have to store it very long (plus, the longer it is there...the harder it is to find!). Anyway, I ordered it on the 15th and my tracking info. shows it will arrive on the 17th, which is about 3 days earlier than I wanted it to.

Because we are arriving prior to our DDP, I also ordered a few snack items: cheese/P.B crackers, choco. chip cookies/etc. There's not a very big selection of food items though.

I have no idea how long Disney is going to allow these types of shipments because it obviously takes profit away from them as well as the extra man-power it takes to receive/store/deliver the items...but I will gratefully take advantage of it as long as I can!

It's not a big tube, so it'll fit in the quart ziplock with your other items. It really is worth it to have something like this because you never know - lots of women use it around the straps and fastners on their bras too (and put it around where the elastic goes on underpants) - it's one of those things that if it happens once, you're miserable the entire time.

Runners put it on their heels even if they're wearing socks and have great shoes - just a little bit of friction is enough to blister a heel or the side of your foot.

The Monistat brand is usually $7.99, but CVS makes it's own brand for $5.99. Dollar Tree carries a liquid baby powder that also has the same ingredient (but can be messy), it's made by Breck.

Thanks LJ -- You've convinced me I really should get a tube "just in case". :thumbsup2

There were far less rooms available at OKW, even hours after the email went out - dates over-lapped. For me it was deciding between a studio at OKW vs. 1-BR at SSR and that tub won me over, but I definately would've picked OKW if they had a 1-BR. This is rude (and of course I don't feel like this now), but in May when we passed SSR, it looked empty to me and I said to myself, that place looks sterile and no fun. We were at ASMo, which was a 24 hr. party, but were only there 3 nights. I am looking forward to somewhere tranquil this time.

You'll like it, and it won't go to waste - it's the same as very expensive foundation primers. There is a Japanese product by DHC called Velvet Skin Coat that I love and there's no difference IMO - that's $20 for 0.52 oz. This is a steal at 1.5 oz.

That's another bonus for those who wear makeup - if you use this, your makeup will stay fresh in the humidity and all your "fine lines" will disappear lol

Thanks for all the info on water I'm going to order from cosco instead of staples. How many bottles did you order for your entire trip?I was going to get 3 cases for 13 days,Plus we take a huge water jug that we fill up with ice and water before we leave and it holds a gallon of water.believe it or not we use about 2 gallons a day,I take sippy cups for my kids and add those togo lemonade or koolaid packets and they drink all day, which is fine with me because it keep them hydrated.Don't tell my kids but it calls for 1 packet for 8oz of water and I only put in half of packet for less sugar(they have no idea:lmao: one of these days they'll catch on)

I know that I personally chose SSR because I didn't really care for the look & feel of OKW - after living in SoFL for 15 years it didn't seem vacationey to me. I think I talked about that here way back when I first booked - I originally booked at OKW and then switched the next day to SSR. Also because OKW doesn't have elevators, and with a new knee replacement (my DB), and arthritic back (me) and a stroller (DD3) that could be a problem. I love the classy look and feel of SSR, it's much nicer than anyplace we would normally stay and will really make me feel pampered.

I got my Monistat at WalMart on clearance for $3.00 - what a deal! I usually use BodyGlide and I put that stuff everywhere! When you're out walking in the heat all day long, you get little irritations and it really helps. Not just on my feet and thighs but around the bra straps and band, and if a clothing tag rubs or a bag strap rubs it's good for that too. It even helps to get rings off when your hands swell in the heat & humidity! Thanks for the tip about the makeup, I might have to try it. I'm not sure though about putting something made my Monistat on my face, that just sounds too weird! :lmao:

2 weeks from tomorrow, I am getting SO excited!!

I will order three cases with each delivery. If we need any more than that, my DSIL will be there with her car at that point, so we'll just head to Target or somewhere and pick some up. I just bought a whole bunch of On-The-Go packets too!

Cool -- my face gets like a swamp in humid weather! If my Walmart has it on clearance, I might get several tubes of it. :woohoo:
