We are going to Disney this June for 10 days. We were then gonna go to Universal Studios for 2 days. Now we're thinking of maybe not going to Universal and doing Disney an extra 2 days. If we did this I would probably take one of those days as a day off to rest and relax. Our boys will be 4 and 5 if that makes a difference. Oh and money is not an issue. We are not spending as much as we thought we would so I don't want hat to be the deciding factor. Thanks.

I would do Disney the extra 2 days and enjoy that time relaxing....I know my kids really enjoy the resort pools. Save Universal for another trip, maybe when they are older.

Have a great time!

I would skip Universal. It's really geared more towards older kids. We happen to be doing it this summer, and I've been studying it--my younger 2 will be 6 and 3. No way would I take just them. We're going for the 12 and 14yo. There's jsut so many things that the little guys won't be able to experience--and even if you think they might not get wigged out by stuff, you really don't know.

2 extra days in WDW, OTOH, could be real nice. Maybe a "down day" mid-trip, where you catch up on sleep, use the hotel pool, etc. Also, we always had an unplanned day towards the end of our trips--we would use it to go back to any park that we just didn't get everything in at, KWIM?

If you poke around these threads, you'll find some on stuff to do outside the parks, if you're concerned about not knowing what to do.

My first thought is eight days at Disney and you are not planning a break??? I would be so tired and the kids would be cranky.

I usually plan one park per day except Epcot-that can take two days. All the rest of the days are breaks to swim/relax etc.

I would plan to cut down the days going to Disney parks and go to Univeral for the two days. My kids love US as much as Disney. Once your kids are age four and up US parks are great.

With having 10 days at Disney, I would go ahead and do two days at Universal. We were just there in Sept. w/ DD3.5 and, while there wasn't a ton for her to do, she LOVED the things she could do!

At US, she did E.T., Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, the kids play area (Curious George & Barney) and Jaws. She actually slept a good portion of the day in the stroller, so we switched off for the grown-up rides.

At IOA, we spent at least three hours in Seuss Landing--she loved it! The rest of the day, she spent most of her time splashing around in the fountains throughout the park while we switched off, again.

Check out the Universal board here--the posters are nice and they really know their stuff. :thumbsup2

If you haven't done WDW before or have only gone for a short trip, then I would stay with WDW this time.

You could add the Water Parks and More onto your tickets and spend some time at one or both water parks or just spend some days at the resort relaxing.

We had 13 days last year and crammed 10 days at the parks and had two water park days and then also did MNSSHP. It was too much. This time no water park.

I also think that US/IOA would be better in a few years. The kids will still have fun now but they can't go on all the big rides. In a few years they will be tall enough and will have more fun.

I would stick to WDW only. You can take a break midtrip and have 1more day in the parks .. maybe when they are alittle older you can do an Orlando trip incorporating universal, disney, seaworld, etc ...

I would stick to WDW as well. Do US next year for the Harry Potter opening. They will also have a brand new roller coaster.

WDW. As someone said before, UO isn't really geared towards small children.

I would do the extra two days at Disney, simply for the relaxing factor.

We spent 9 days at Disney last may and are doing 10 days this year. Most people think we're crazy to say that we had a truly relaxing trip at Disney with three small children, but we really did. We went to the parks every day, but usually only spent about 3-4 hours at a time. We took breaks and got out of the heat for several hours nearly every afternoon. We usually all took a nap. Because we were there for so many days, we never felt rushed and didn't feel like we had to fit everything in.

Are you staying onsite? I guess that would make the difference for me also. We stayed onsite and just used the Disney transportation. Getting into the car and going to Universal (and knowing we had to stay there the entire day without returning to the room for napping/relaxing/cooling off) would have been much more stressful for us than spending the extra days at Disney.

Having done both parks (my children are all teens - early 20's now) I would take the extra 2 days at WDW given your children's ages.

While there are areas in both US and IOA geared for young children, they aren't huge. There is definitely more for them to do at WDW. US/IOA are both great parks but as a PP pointed out they are definitely geared more toward the teens/young adults.

I know my DS loved Universal Studios because of all the Marvel charactors, his eyes lit up when they came out on 4 wheelers, but be sure to take time to hit the Disney outlet stores too and go with the flow.....:flower3:

Ok so I thought we made our mind up to stay at Disneyso I called and it's not available. The guy sid to ry again in a couple days. So now we have to decide if we want to change resorts for 2 days or go to Universal. The decisions just never end.
