WWYD: 2 Rooms @ POFQ, Family Suite @ AOA or 1 BR @ AKV-K

Two rooms. Adjoining/connecting isn't a huge issue - and everyone has their own space. I wouldn't want mom sleeping on the pull out OR in my room. Nope. She gets her own room. Meet up outside when everyone is ready.

Glad I'm not the only one who can't imagine asking my mom to sleep on a pull out. I'd bring along and sleep on an air mattress before that would happen.

They’ve done a 1 bedroom at AKL before. Seems like Mom was okay with it.

My mother is so low key and would be perfectly fine with a sofa bed. She was giddy at a La Quinta Last year. She was just happy to be on vacation. Lol

My mom is the LEAST fussy person I know - she routinely camps in the back of a pickup in the middle of nowhere, out west.

It's just that I would be hyper-conscious of my mom in the other room. Hoping she is sleeping ok, not trying to wake her, shushing my kids, etc.

My mom comes to visit a few times a year and camps on my couch, and we live this each time. "shhh, kids, let grandma sleep".. Nope.

My mother has done this before and really is fine with it...she actually has no trouble and is about as low-maintenance as they get. She travels high end all the time on her own, but she actually loves the chance to be with the boys and put them to bed. I love the concern for her though...shows me how each family is different :)

We love the idea of having the boys "sleep over" in her room though. We will make a decision, but definitely leaning towards POFQ. The biggest complaint I am wrestling with is the laundry. But, with the app to watch it, I think we'd be ok. We'd love to not drag tons of clothes with us and do laundry instead.

Thanks all! The winner is...2 Garden View Rooms at POFQ. Just seemed like the best option for us. I have noted the one request for connecting rooms and nothing else, as recommended. I figured the new water area was what sealed the deal for us, along with having two small fridges for our stuff and a bit more private space.

I’d do two rooms. If I were the mom (well, I am a mom), I’d want my own room, not necessarily connecting. No way would I sleep on the twin chair bed in the living room with 2 kids. That isn’t a vacation. I’d book my own room, so I could have some quality sleep as well as privacy.

I would definitely choose 2 rooms at POFQ and I've been in your shoes making this exact same decision. When the kids were little we traveled as a party of 5 a few times (brought my mom with us). Having a comfortable bed for everyone trumps everything else, IMHO. The sofa bed is never as good as a bed. Plus, I feel there's more privacy in two separate rooms than a suite. You don't really need connecting rooms with 3 adults and 2 kids, so I would not place too much weight on that. We placed my mom in her own room, and a few times, one of the kids slept over in her room. Worked out well. Disney will place you either connecting or very near.
