Wwtbam - I Won!!!

That is wonderful news, Steve!! Congratulations to you! :)

Congratulations!!

I enjoyed playing the game from the audience. I think I would have been too nervous to answer even the easiest of questions if I had gotten into the hot seat.
Even with black out dates, there are still some really great time to go. We went the second week of May and the weather was just beautiful.

I made it to 125K but I blew the 250K ansel adams question. If I were playing for cash I would have quit. Have fun on the cruise!

That is so cool!! I told DH that he is going , this trip, *every* day!! until he wins...I'll take the kids back for a nap, and he can go play;)

The last time we were there, we didn't get to do the show until our last day, and DH got to #2 on the top 10...so cool to even see his seat number:D

Let us know when you're going on your cruise!!:bounce:

That is so cool! Congratulations!

On our trip in November we played 3 times in one day. It took the first game to figure it out. We learned fast that getting into the hot seat by answering the fastest finger question was pure dumb luck.....everytime it was answered by a kid under 8 years old!

Okay, second time... we have this all figured out.....oops, time is up. I am in 2nd place. My 23 year old son is in 4th, my 17 year old daughter is in 5th, and my 21 year old son in in 9th! (Hubby didn't make the top 10).

Third and final game.......time runs out on us again......23 year old is tied with a stranger for FIRST PLACE! Alas, the plane won't wait. So what are we going to be doing EVERY SINGLE day of our next trip????????????????

I am so happy for you. Enjoy your cruise and think of all of us while on it (yeah right ;) !).

I got up to 125,000 points twice and 64,000 once. Tomorrow I am going up with my family again and will try to get on so hopefully if all goes well, I can get on and do well. Boy if anyone has done a study on this game, I wish there was a way of figuring out how to narrow down the answers. Like Disney has a little secret that no one realizes. You know it was funny, I walked up to get fast passes for the next show, and to the right on the bench was a large group of people with pieces of paper and pens and they were writing down all the questions and seeing how the answer choices went. It was like a huge base of operations. I don't recall them ever getting into the hot seat though. It was kind of funny. You know the more I think about it, if you ever go up with a group of 16 people (including you), then you are 100% guranteed for one of you to get in. Just give everyone a different combination for the fastest finger question and when the thing comes up, hit them as fast as you can. Obviously that only works with a very large group, but you never ever know when you will be in a group like that.

It's funny, DH and I were talking about the "show" just a few hours ago. He didn't know anything about it and I was telling him about the cruise. I just read him your post...he's jealous! Congrats! The DISers are proud!

The cruise is for a Cat 9, outside cabin, for four passengers. The prize includes roundtrip airfare (from California!), airport/port/airport transfers (we get to ride the DCL bus!), and gratuities for cabin steward, waiter, and asst. waiter. I'm hoping that they will pop for one night hotel (Contemporary?) before the cruise because it takes so long to fly out coast to coast.

I can't remember the exact level these questions were but I think I have them pretty close. I'm only listing the ones I used lifelines on and the ones I thought were tough (because those are the ones I can remember. ;)

Which of these pieces of furniture would you find as part of a side buffet:
A) Armoire
B) Credenza
C) Ottoman
D) Hutch

Answer: B) Credenza - I asked the audience on this one. I was pretty sure it was credenza but needed some reassurance. The funny thing was that although Credenza came in with the majority of votes, it wasn't overwhelming, only about 39%.

Which of these Afican countries do not have a coastline?
A) Chad
B) Angola
C) Somalia
D) Mauritania

Answer: A) Chad. I had ruled out Mauritania because I thought they had a Navy (Can't have a Navy without a coast, right?). I used the 50/50 and ended up with Chad and Angola. I picked Chad on gut instinct and got it right.

Which of the following closely matches the definition of the word "distrait"?
A) Unemployed
B) Nonchalant
C) Divided Attention
D) Completed

Answer: C) Divided Attention. I thought it was divided attention based on gut instinct. I wasn't sure so I used the "Phone a Complete Stranger" who answered A) Unemployed. I went against him, which raised an eyebrow with the host and made me feel like I blew it. However, he turned it around and said it was good thing I did because I got it right!

On the ABC Soap Opera General Hospital, what is the name of the charater nicknamed "Jax"?
A) Jed
B) Jeremiah
C) Jude
D) Jasper

*

*

*

*

Answer: D) Jasper. I had no idea. My wife watches "All My Children" and the only name I know is Ericka Kane. I guessed that Jax sounded more like a shortening of Jasper or Jas. I can't believe that they threw in a soap question so late in the game but since I got it right, who cares?

BTW, I ended up as Winner number 76, which means I'm the 76th person to win the grand prize. They stamp that on the back of the 1,000,000 point pin and post it on their bulletin board. Number 75 won just a few days before me on Dec. 12. I'm not eligible to play in the Hot Seat for 30 days and I'm not eligible to play for the million for a full year. That means after 30 days, if I'm chosen to play, I can sit in the Hot Seat and play as normal, up to 500,000 points. If I happen to get to the 1,000,000, I will only get prizes up to 500,000 points. They'll still shoot off the confetti and streamers for the audience but won't award another cruise.

I told the CM that I doubt that would happen and she said that it did happen just this year. Some woman won a cruise, came back a few months later and went all the way again!

Happy New Year All, Steve

I had another question for you Dvc California. What time of day did you win. Was it in the morning or what it the last show of the day, or what? I just went on today, only made it to 16,000 :( . I got a pretty difficult question I thought.

Joseph and his coat of many colors can be found in which book of the bible?

A) Numbers
B) Genesis
C) Leveticus
D) Exodus

The answer was B. I thought it was C because I narrowed it down to B and C on my own and decided to go with that choice. I couldn't remember reading about Joseph and the color wheel coat in the book of Genesis. Is this the same Joseph as in Joseph and Mary or is he different?

Hey--I KNEW that one!!! I guess watching Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Josh twice a day for 4 months would have come in handy!!!

Way, way back many centuries ago, not long after the Bible began. . . . .

Yeah see I knew someone who saw that movie would know. Do you actually like that movie, I saw the preview on TV and it looked kinda weird. So it is a different Joseph, I thought so. I thought the Joseph who is with Mary was in Genesis not this Joseph.

I LOVE that movie!! I also saw it at The Muny (St. Louis' outdoor ampitheater) a few years ago and it is AWESOME!! It has every type of music in it, a great story, and great costumes!! You have to rent it just once--you'll be hooked!!!

We went to the 3:00 pm show. I remember we were deciding whether to watch the "Holly"-day Parade or go to WWTBAM. Since we couldn't find any good spots for the parade, we opted for Millionaire.

I glad we did!!!:sunny:

Steve

Wow that is a like a picture perfect scenario. I wouldn't be suprised if what you just said was seen in a movie. It was like WWTBAM was calling you. Just to think, if you had found a good seat you would not have a CRUISE, a leather jacket, and one big a** medalion. Oh and the pins of course.

I made it to the hot seat when we were there in November and I was pretty happy about that but I cannot imagine how thrilled you must be! Congratulations! I wish I could have been there to cheer you on.

I lucked out in getting so many questions that might have been hard for some but because of certain life experiences I was there and knew that. Would brag about all the hard questions I answered but then I would have to admit to the easy one that I blew. LOL

I have an nightmare about getting up there again, getting to the final question and they ask me about one of the boy bands or some such. LOL

Hope you get your dates figured out and get a room for an extra night so that you can enjoy it all. Bet your family is very proud of you also!

Congrats!
I went in thinking the game was going to be like the real thing and they kept asking questions about childrens literature. AARGH! No wonder I had no chance! They didn't ask anything on subjects I know anything about-science, geography, world history, medicine!
