WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

okay question about exercise, what do you do? walking, running, bike, videos? anyone have an opinion on taebo vs windsor pilates? i have both sets of tapes!! just not sure which one would be better to do. i guess either is better than nothing!! :goodvibes

Why not do both? I get bored with continually doing the same thing. I have a couple of exercise videos that I change up when I'm not walking outside. Anyone remember Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies? I use to have several of those and loved them. I no longer have them and would love to buy them again. I've been looking at Sams Club, Walmart and Target and all they seem to have is Yoga tapes right now. I think I might have to do a little search online today and see if I can't snag me a couple.

OK, weighed in this morning thinking I'm going to gain. Ended up losing .6lbs! I really don't know how I did that. I was unusually hungry this week And I didn't exercise. I'm just going to have to put my mind to it! Congrats to all the losers this week and for anyone who didn't......don't give up!!! You will have a better week!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Hi rachel! I have Comcast, and on there OnDemand, they have Exercise TV. I do the in home walking and the Bigest Loser workouts. I also walk outside if I can. I'd check with your cable service to see if they have something like that. Hope that helps!:goodvibes

I LOVE the Richard Simmons tapes!! I have the first two Sweating to the Oldies, the one that is in the house and the Broadway ones. I just dug out the one Broadway one to start this week. I'd try his website and see what you can order. Good Luck!!:goodvibes

i'll have to look into that!!!! the biggest loser work outs sound cool !!:yay:

Do you have room for one more? I started WW in January and since then have lost 24 pounds. I would like to lose about 30 more pounds by November. In the beginning I was doing awesome but I have really started to get lazy with the nice weather we have been having. I haven't been journaling and have been making a lot of bad choices in what I eat. Tonight is WI and I am very nervous that I will see some gain. I'm hoping that by joining you guys I will get the support I need to get back on track and to continue on my downward slide in my weight loss journey.

:welcome: Congrats on the weight loss so far! Everyone gets lazy now and then, just remember that tomorrow starts a brand new week to get back to journaling!:cool1: Good luck tonight!:goodvibes

tiggerlover...thanks for the pep talk! I will have to pull out my first week book and read over the specifics of core again. I had a 2 lb gain this week...I knew it was coming but it stinks just the same. I have not been journaling and have made some pretty bad food choices over the past week or two. I had DD's First Communion party over the weekend and ate way too much and way too many bad things.

I am re-motivated to get rid of the 3 lbs I gained over the past 2 weeks. Worked out this morning and then went for a one hour walk after my meeting. I have journaled everything I have eaten so far today:thumbsup2

rachel3....I'm right there with you in getting back on track. I use the treadmill 5 days a week. I do a combination of walking and running...I am up to 2.5 miles in 30 minutes :woohoo: I have also started using a fitness ball with resistance bands(I've only done that a few times) I have not tried any of the tapes you listed. Someone else posted about On Demand...I might give that shot too just to mix things up a bit.

bucci818...congrats on your loss this week! :cheer2:

dreamgirl....Welcome! Always room for more. Congrats on your loss so far! You've done great! I am where you're at too. Did great at the begininng and now getting a little lazy with journaling, making bad choices etc. Today's new day to get on track! Good luck tonight at WI :grouphug:

This afternoon was my first WI. I followed Core and journaled as well because the Leader wanted to discuss it with me. I lost 2.2 which I was happy with although the other two women who also joined last week both lost 4.5 using points. I find the points intimidating. I don't mind the 35 weekly points but counting everything I eat would take too much time I think. The leader thought I should try to eat a bit more as I only used 12 of the weekly points but due to my exercising, I actually ended the week with more than 35 points. I thought that was funny.

Today's 2nd week book is all about exercising which I already do so I'm not quite sure where I will begin with that. I like the etools which calculates my activity points for me.

Cepmom, good luck getting back on track. If you're lifetime, can you use the etools? I find journaling online is much faster than writing everything.

Welcome to the other newbies!

i do the point system. the only problem with me is , i don't have time to go to meetings or weigh in. i just kind of weigh myself in weekly. you can see why that doesn't work too well!!:rotfl2:
i have 3 kids, 2 of them are autistic. i also work 3 12hour shifts/week. so between work, 3 therapy vists/wk for kids and other kid stuff, i just can't fit it in!!

but just wanted to say thank you already!! this board is definately going to help me keep on track. i just need to know that i have to report my weekly loss/gain to someone!! i came home this am after work and looked in the fridge. well, the rigatoni bake leftover was lookin pretty good, but i thought no , i have to post my weight loss/gain next week. :thumbsup2

so thank you alll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I mentioned looking for the Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies Videos. I went to Dollar General to buy a Graduation Card and while looking around I spot Richard Simmons on a video tape. I couldn't believe my eyes. I hit the jackpot as far as videos go. Do ya'll remember his latest round of videos were called Blast Off the Pounds. Well I bought five of his tapes for $1.00 each. 60's Blast-Off, Mega Mix Blast-Off, Tone up on Broadway, Latin Blast-Off and Disco Blast-Off. I hope to be dancing away the pounds this week. I'm not sure if Dollar General is just a southern chain or it there stores are all across the country. For a buck it was too good of a deal for me not to share with all my Weight Watcher friends.

great job on your loss! On Core do you earn and use activity points like you can on flex? I wonder if you would have a bigger loss if you "ate" you activity points :confused3

Now, I find the Core program intimidating...I like knowing when I've used all my points and I need to stop eating. I tend to eat just for the heck of it, whether I'm hungry or not so I'm afraid on Core I woudl just eat and eat. I don't think I can use etools now that I am Lifetime...I found etools a little bit of a pain to navigate anyway so I've always just journaled in the quick tracker I get at my meetings. It's just laziness that i haven't kept up with it. I did good yesterday though.....wrote every blessed thing down and didn't go over my daily points! Yay for me!

congrats on resisting the rigatoni bake  it's so hard sometimes isn't it to make the right choice?? But you know you'll feel better if you don't give in to it! You should be proud of yourself!

I used to just weigh myself every week (pre-Weight Watchers) and after a while I stopped holding myself accountable. The meetings are key for me to keep on track. With 3 little ones demanding most of your time and a job outside the home, I can see where it's hard for you to get to a meeting though! Keep posting here...I find that it's a great source of support!

Nice score! I don't think we have Dollar General up here. Now you'll look like this guy, Sweatin to the Oldies :dancer:

Hello everyone! :)
SO far so good on my points/activity this week. I did have a splurge night on Tues..but i don't think i even used all of my flex points so i am not going to fret about it..i am trying to use most of my daily points, esp. on days i work out, which has been every day this week so far..i think its helping me not be so hungry the next day when I do that...so we will see what the dreaded scale thinks about how i did this week tommorow :scared1:

OH a good food find: Perdue boneless chicken breasts that come in individual packets: i had grilled garlic/white wine marinated one last night..for 110 cals it was absolutely delicious..i paired it with roasted asparagus, a small baked potato and grilled zuchinni..YUM!

Do you find these at the grocery....in the lunch meat aisle?

I found them with the regular poultry items, chicken and such..its just prepackaged fresh chicken breasts but they are marinated and portioned sized :)

thanks...I'll be sure to check them out.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am happy to report that at WI last night I lost 4 pounds. I am so surprised. I thought for sure that there was going to be a gain.

My roommate in college and I use to do his workouts. I guess I will be making a trip to the local Dollar General as well. I really need to start exercising.

This sounds really yummy.

Hello everyone ..... just thought I'd stop by for some group therapy! :thumbsup2

Just to join in on the current topics of discussion ...... (not that anyone asked my opinion)
I do flex. I agree with cepmom - I find Core to be intimidating. I too like knowing how many pts I have left, etc. However, I hear Core works great for a LOT of folks out there too! I guess that's why WW gave us 2 approaches ...... 'cuz we're not all the same! :grouphug:

Exercise ...... yeah, I own at least a dozen different videos. I am just NOT self-motivated to "work out" at home! I didn't do anything prior to joining WW! Yep, big part of the problem. I have a good friend who talked me into going to spin class with her ...... y'all ever done that?!? Well, I went ...... and I made it all the way through the class my very first time (trust me, it's an accomplishment!)! Now, I go twice a week! I'd like to figure out how to work in a 3rd class, but that just hasn't happened yet. I haven't been able to get to class in like 2 weeks now, so I'm frustrated, but I will be back next Tuesday! My schedule has just been too hectic ....... :headache:

Okay - hope everyone is having a great week! My WI is Sat AM, so I'll definitely be checking back & reporting results ........ good or bad! :teacher: I think it's the sense of accountability that works best for me! ;)

I think the important thing about exercise is finding something(s) you like to do and adding variety to your routine so it doesn't get boring. For me I like the recumbent bike, treadmill, occasionally the elliptical, walking and swimming. I occasionally use the ab machines at the gym too. Sorry to hear about your gain, but good for you for getting back on track and recommitting to yourself.

Anyone remember Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies?

Grumpy's Wife, I used to love Sweatin to the Oldies too, I have the original somewhere in the house, but not sure how it would work out with my bad knees. But I sure did love that video.

Bucci818, congrats on your loss this week, isn't it amazing how the scale doesn't always match what we think we have achieved.

:welcome: dreamgirl! Of course there is room for more!!! It is hard once we get comfortable with what we are doing, many times that leads to complacency. I have learned you need to switch things up a little to add a little change to your routine, whether it is to your exercise or your eating or both. Congratulations on your 4 pound loss......:cool1:

cepmom, sorry to hear about the gain, they really stink, even when we know they are coming. But the good thing is tomorrow is a new day and you can start anew. Keep me posted on your core research!

Disneyforus2002, congrats on your loss, that is awesome for one week. As hard as it is, don't compare yourself to others because everyone is different. All three of you could have eaten the same things and exercised the same way and still not have the same loss. Celebrate your loss, it was a good one. And as silly as it sounds, it sounds like you didn't eat enough of your points this week.....you have to eat to lose! You need to find a happy medium between your flex points and your exercise points. I used to always eat my 35 and stay away from the exercise points and that worked for me. I also have a friend where she would eat all of her exercise points but only half of her flex points and that worked for her. Everyone is different and you just need to find what works best for your body.

great job on your loss! On Core do you earn and use activity points like you can on flex? I wonder if you would have a bigger loss if you "ate" you activity points

cepmom, I was exactly the same way, that is why I stayed away from core for so long! It is hard to explain, but it works. The first week I tried tracking my points, but following core and it worked out well once I got the hang of it. But as long as you are making the healthier core choices it seems to work. And you are right, lifetimers lose their access to eTools. (I encourage you to go to the WW website and go to contact and email them about that. I email them once a month to complain about losing eTools at lifetime with the hopes that if enough people complain about how unfair it is that they will do something. My thinking is that I have spent hundreds of dollars to lose weight and get healthy with WW and now that I have gotten there and have achieved lifetime they want to take away one of the very tools that has assisted me in getting to lifetime). Okay....off of my soapbox now.

MA Pigletfan....I love those Perdue individual chicken breasts, my favorite is the tomato basil.....mmmmm.

mouseaddicts, it is great that your friend got you to the spin class, can you enlist her to be your exercise buddy so that you can motivate one another? Having a buddy helps to keep you more accountable and less likely to bail on one another. One thing I learned with a busy life, I HAVE to schedule my exercise into our families weekly schedule, it is something I need to do for myself as much as my family and it is so important.

As for me, I fell off of the wagon big time yesterday, we had a HUGE potluck at work and I ate everything (at least it seemed like I did). But that is okay, I enjoyed myself and tomorrow is a new day. :)

Onward and downward!

This thread is hopping. I wish I had time to respond to everyone, but I need to go to work. I just weighed in after my first week on core, and lost 2.8 pounds. I am thrilled, and it was much easier to stay on program than I thought it would be.

Cepmom- I know exactly how you feel about core, but I finally gave it a try.

I have been doing ww this time for 2 and a half years, though not faithfully, and never thought I could do core, mainly because of the amount of convenience foods and snacks I eat. I had lost 40 pounds, but have been gaining and losing the same 5 pounds for the past year, and think I definitely needed to try something different. When I think positively, I've maintained the 35 for a year, but frustrated I haven't lost any more, so finally gave it a try. I did use all 35 flex points, and yesterday, was baking cookies for my sons variety show, and needed to eat some, and thought about the activity points, and when I looked it up, you can earn and use activity points on core, so that saved me. I would have eaten them anyway, but I had earned 4 points that morning, so I did it guilt free. I was surprised to find that I used my flex points for rice one night, and pasta in soup another day, not just for fiberone bars and ice cream. I got my sweet fix from ff pudding. (and my calcium.) I think I'm going to stick with it for a while. Last night at work they had a barbeque, so I went and got salad with boneless bbq chicken, and watermelon. Those huge grilled hot dogs looked awesome, but I walked right by. It's amazing how some days we can just walk by, and other days we need to eat everything in sight.

Tiggerlover-glad you enjoyed the potluck, but you are right, it is only one day, and the other 6 days on track will counter act it.

Congratulations to everyone here who has lost, and those who have seen a gain or maintain, hang in there and don't give up. You can do it!!!! :cheer2:
