WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

Wow, I love hearing all the successes on this thread. I finished trying on the rest of my smaller summer clothes over the weekend and found several items that were too tight last year. I don't need to buy anything until I lose some more.

I weighed in last night, and was not surprised to see a 1 pound gain. I just couldn't get interested in following the program at all last week. I have started back exercising, taking long walks in the blistering heat at night, but I've found that if I call a friend as I start my walk, I really don't notice the heat as much.

Hope everyone has an excellent week. Today is high school graduation, and I have to go--we foolishly graduate at high noon in the football stadium--should be about 95 degrees at graduation--doesn't that sound toasty.

hi everyone! Looks like everyone is doing so well the past week!! I have been struggling again with eating things I shouldn't :worried: I decided to go ahead give Core a try (finally!) I was getting too out of control with the points and eating a little of this and a little of that until I blew through my points budget.

Weigh in is usually on Wednesday but I have to miss my meeting to take DD to her college orientation and since I felt pretty out of control, I decided to start Core yesterday instead of waiting until Wednesday.

So, this is day 2 of Core and so far so good. I need some food suggestions though...I keep looking at the boxes of Fiber One bars and other good things in the cabinet and then I go over to the fridge and get some fruit. I did buy Fat Free/Sugar Free pudding mix and that was good, I am eating FF plain yogurt and I made some really good fish last night with a baked sweet potato (I think I'll have that again tonight!) Please post some good Core food choices...I don't want to get bored!

NCRedding, great to hear that last summer's clothes fit, isn't that a great way to see your progress!! It sure is hard to get motivated in this heat, today with our heat index we were at 114 degrees...ugh. We were going to go swimming after work, but it was just too hot to even think about being in the sun.

cepmom, I am with you, I have been off the wagon for a couple of days now and I really need to get back on the wagon. This week is my hormonal week and I am just always so darn hungry....but this too shall pass. Now, for some Core suggestions..........

Sliced turkey breast (not processed), Lobster or crab delights, hard boiled egg, pickles, Fiber One granola (fiber one, almonds, dried fruit, see recipe within this thread), ice pops, watermelon, banana, apple, pineapple, fat free popcorn, skim milk with a 0 PT chocolate WW straw, Egg Beater omlet with salsa, chicken broth with bits of rotisserie chicken and steamed shrimp are some of my favorites.

I did a google search and came up with this link, http://www.recipezaar.com/cookbook.php?bookid=25930, I don't know how the recipes are, but they might be worth checking out.

Hope some of this helps. If you have any Core suggestions I would love to hear them as well.

Going well today...

I am under my points PLUS I went to yoga and walked (3.8 mph) on the treadmill for 1/2 an hour.

I weigh in Thursday... We shall see...

Good luck on Core. I've never had the guts to try it...

Ms. H

I know I am not ready for core now, I'm thinking it might be something I try for a week or two when I hit the point that the lbs just don't move. I'm not sure how I will do with it as I've been so used to counting.

Someone at work asked me today if I had lost weight. I do know some of my clothing fits a lot better then it did 3 weeks ago.

Hope everyone stay cool. It sure it a hot one here.

DizneeMommy- Whoo hoo!!! That is an awesome loss!! Congratulations!!

NCRedding- Sorry to hear you had a gain, but glad you are back on track with the exercise. Good for you for getting out in this heat. I couldn't do anything all weekend it was miserable. Hope graduation went well. I'm sure you sweated that pound away. Congrats on the old clothes fitting. That is awesome.

cepmom- Glad to hear you are giving core a try. I was a long term flex user, and am liking the freedom of not tracking everything. I tend to fall off for the weekends, and get back on for 4 days before weighing on fridays, and have been losing a small amt each week. I tend to use 5 flex points/day for snacks, but will make the pudding too for no point usage. The ff microwave popcorn is good for a salty snack, and lately the blueberries and strawberries have been really good. I like to cook a lot on the grill now, and have leftovers for a couple nights. I'll grill either chicken or steak, and will microwave a couple potatoes, and zucchini to soften them up, slice them in half and spray them with olive oil pam, a little salt and pepper and grill them up. The other thing, this week I grilled chicken and bought salad stuff- spinach, tomatoes, cukes, and put the chicken in the salad, and added some ff cheese, frozen peas, and grapes. I've also put strawberries in the salad sometimes. Black beans are great too. I try to mix it up so it's not so boring. For one point slim-a-bear makes a fudge icecream bar, cheaper than the ww ones that is a great snack. Hard boiled eggs are a good too. Good luck on core!

tiggerlover- Hope those darn cravings pass soon. I must be near pms too, today the lorna doones were really calling my name at work, but I resisted.
114 degrees sounds brutal. We were mid 90s, and I couldn't do anything.

Ms. Heimlich-Congrats on your successful day!! Good luck at weighin.

That is so great when people start to notice your hard work. Helps keep you motivated.
I hear you on the core. I had been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds for the past year or so, and finally gave core a try, and really liked the freedom of not tracking everything, and also not feeling bad when I didn't have points left, but I still needed to eat. Flex seems to be working great for you.

That is so me this week. I know I'm up a pound maybe even two. I am going to WW tomorrow and I'll take my lumps but I just can't get my head back in the game. I'm so proud of what I've done so far and I still need to lose about 25 more pounds. I'm not giving up but I'm just getting bored with eating the same food over and over again. Maybe I need to take out all of my WW booklets and start reading them again. I need help to get me pumped up like I was in the beginning. :worried:

Hi everyone, I'm not feeling very well today, so I'll be brief....up.2lbs. I felt it before I got on the scale. Next week will be better. I'll check in tomorrow!

tiggerlover ~ thanks for suggestions and the recipe website...it looked like it had a lot of good recipes. I printed a couple and will try them out this week.

Ms. Heimlich ~ sounds like you're doing well this week...good luck at weigh in tomorrow!

Mary Anne ~ isn't it nice when others notice the differnce?? We have a new employee at my job and I was asking him something about a product. He didn't know the answer and went to ask another employee. When he was asked who wanted to know, he didn't know my name so he told her "the tall skinny one at the service desk" :goodvibes

mikamah ~ thanks for the Core suggestions too. I have been trying to limit my flex points somewhat but I do still need that carb fix everyday.

Grumpy's Wife ~ I've had weeks like that too and re-reading the books and getting to a meeting usually helps me get back on track. Hang in there!

TrueLove's1stKiss ~ great job! Keep it up!

bucci818 ~ I hope you feel better soon. Tomorrow's a new day to start fresh. Hang in there!

I missed my meeting today, but I weighed in at home and I am the same weight I was at last week's weigh in :woohoo: . On Monday I was up 4 lbs :scared1: which is what prompted me to start Core that same day. Monday was also the 2nd day of AF so I'm sure that was part of the gain too.
Core is going okay...definately requires more food prep and thought put into what I am having for dinner etc but I feel better not eating the processed stuff I was quick to grab while following flex. It's a nice change, but I'm not sure I'll do this long term. I like the flexability to switch between plans though. Hope everyone has a good week!

TrueLove - great loss. It's such a good feeling to see that weight come down isn't it. :cool1:

bucci - life happens, just keep moving forward. It is amazing how we feel those lbs right away when they come back. pixiedust:

cepmom - that' a great way to be described "he didn't know my name so he told her "the tall skinny one at the service desk"

Tomorrow is weigh in day and I'm hoping the scale gods do not forget which direction to move.

Hi! Can I join you? I started WW last week and at yesterday's weigh in I was down 6.2!:cool1:

Has anyone here ever gone to a WW meeting while on vacation? I am going to Cape Cod in 2 1/2 weeks and was thinking about going to a meeting there to keep me from straying while away.

6.2 down...about 60 to go!

:welcome: We love when our group gets bigger, our thinking is the more the merrier!! Congrats on your weigh in, that is a fabulous loss!!! I highly recommend taking in a meeting or two while on vacation (if it is possible) as it really helps to keep you accountable while you are away.

:offtopic: I see you are from upstate NY, being a native New Yorker I was wondering what part of the state you are in? I grew up in Orange County, near West Point and lived there until I got married. DH is retired military so we have lived all over the place, but NY is my home!

I'm in Ulster County. My sister's nephew is at West Point. We always take in at least one game at Michie Stadium every year. When my kids are out of Hs (5 years to go) we'll probably get season's tickets. Right now it's not worth it because we would miss so many games with all their weekend activities.

Welcome, welcome, welcome!!!

I've never done a meeting anywhere else, but I think it's a great idea.

I'm a New Yorker too, but from the city. :goodvibes

Great starting loss. A lb at a lb that is is what I tell myself. One down or any fraction of it is better the five up.

Kudos to you Ms. H for doing 3.8 on the treadmill for a half hour. I decided to change things up at the gym so I hopped on the treadmill for 30 minutes, but I was only comfortable at 3.5 with a 2.5 incline. I tried doing 3.8, but only made it about 4 minutes, since I have knee problems I could feel the strain so I immediately slowed it back down. Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow.

cepmom, you will have to let me know if you like any of the recipes, if there is anything good I would love to try it out. Tonight I tried something new that was tasty, I made a batch of quick barley, then in a seperate pan I used 2 tsp of oil (canola) and stir fried diced up red peppers, red onions and garlic until they were soft and then mixed the two together for a very yummy (Core) side dish. Glad to hear your scale is down from Monday, good luck with your next weigh in.

Hey "tall skinny lady at the service desk".......:) Sometimes it is the little things that really make our day, that sounded like a golden compliment.

Mik, the weather has been brutal, but luckily tonight it has cooled off. We were even able to sit out on the patio this evening with a friend which was something we couldn't do the other night because it was 90 degrees overnight! Thank goodness for AC. :thumbsup2 for resisting the Lorna's, one craving at a time, if we can conquer them one by one we will succeed!

:cool1: TrueLove's1stKiss:cool1: Nice loss. :thumbsup2

 bucci818, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hope you all have a great night!!

I am actually from Warwick, but I love West Point! My sister in law was just there for the graduation and they had a great experience, my niece and nephew caught a hat and got to meet a couple of the graduates, they were so excited. Hopefully when your nephew graduates your kids will have an equally great experience. Small world.

Welcome again, I look forward to seeing you around the thread.

Dam*it. I GAINED 0.8 lbs.:faint:

I was really feeling like I was having a good week. I've worked out quite a bit. I've stayed within my points AND been following the healthy guidelines (except the vitamin... i've NEVER taken the vitamin).

And I gained.

WTH?

oh, well. There's always next week...:worried:

Well...my plan of "joining" this thread after a glorious first weigh-in were shot today when I weighed and my first week's "loss" was only 0.6 lbs. I know I shouldn't beat myself up because any loss is good loss, but I'm going to beat myself up for not tracking as well as I should have. So...my goal for this coming week is to TRACK my points well!!! That and get off my rump and have some exercise supplement my efforts, that is if I can get over this bug that's attempting to attack! "Just say NO to sneezing" is my new moto! :thumbsup2

Anywho...wish me luck!
