WW activity points question

I joined WW meetings last night after being unsuccessful on my own for the past few months. During the orientation meeting, the meeting leader said we will receive information regarding activity/activity points week 3 (I think it was week 3). Anyway, she said they suggest you earn 4 activity points per day, 28 for the week. However, she said you don't start "eating" your APs until week three. Does this sound right? If I earn APs now, should I not use them? I thought you were always supposed to try to eat your AP's? I'm a little confused. :confused3 ;)

In week 3 they will give you a booklet about getting active and a Points Booster calculator (similar to the points calculator you got) that figures out how many activity points you receive in relation to the type and length of the exercise and your weight. :cool1: It doesn't mean you shouldn't do activities until then, but they give you a couple weeks orientation into the program before adding the next step.

Good luck! :cheer2:

I say if you earn them, eat them!! She's probably trying to follow the wait till 3 week to add them because that is what they say at training since they dont' hand out info till week 3. It wont' hurt you!

Hi Cindy -

I agree with what Jules said. I think you should still do the activity, but not counting them will help jump start your metabolism. Make sure you drink PLENTY of water... it really helps flush out your body.

Good luck

I too agree, make sure you do your activity for the day, but wait until week 3 to use your points. IF you have just started you might not even need to use those activity points. I've been going 8 weeks and I haven't even used my activity points once, just find it easier not to think..ooohh I could eat this...although when I get to Disney that might be a different story :rotfl:

Good Luck!!

I don't use my AP very often... usually just when I know we're going out or eating out of the norm. I think it depends on how easy your losing weight (or not) I've lost almost 43 pounds in less than 7 months.

Thank you for your replies, I just got a little confused and I didn't want to mess up in the first week back. I don't want to rely on my activity points so I'm going to try not to use them (but we'll see how long that lasts  ;) ) .

You do have to eat all your daily points, but not your weekly allowance or your activity points. I just work out like always but don't count my activity points at all, that way I'm not tempted to use them.

If you are extra hungry, you could use a few so that you don't binge. When you exercise more, you will be hungrier. That said, if you haven't received the info yet, unless you're familiar with the plan I'd be afraid you'd eat four extra points a day and not be exercising enough to earn them. Also, the first three weeks of the program are almost like boot camp and you get remarkable results, so waiting will help that early loss.

Or you could bank them for Easter...

Finally, 4 points a day seems very aggressive for beginners. 28 points extra a week sounds attractive, but I'd never be able to accomplish the exercise and that's like a whole extra day's worth of food after maxing out points! I'm lucky if I earn an extra point a day, but I am lazy.

I thought 28 AP's sounded like a lot but I wasn't sure. I wonder if they equate and hours worth of exercise to 4 points? Anyway, I don't see myself earning 28 AP's per week. I am going to try to not use the AP's b/c I don't want to come to rely on them.

She may be talking about it generally that way, it depends on how much you weigh and how vigorously you exercise. I earn one point for a two mile walk, an hour would be three.

In fact, if I want to manipulate the slide to do the bare minimum to earn an extra point I'd only have to walk an additional four minutes. Thanks for calling my attention to this so I could see remember how beneficial it would be for me to be more aggressive about my exercise!

Four minutes for a fudge bar. Four minutes for a fudge bar. Four minutes for a fudge bar. Four minutes for a fudge bar. Four minutes for a fudge bar.
