I totally know what you mean. But mostl restaurants have chips. I think they make them. So I might try! But store bought is so much easier!!

You might try pita chips - take pieces of pita bread and cut them down to chip size and bake until crispy.

Granted, I don't know how good they are, but my mom loves them.

I'll try those. Have to check the sodium though.

I laugh about the judgemental attitude comment; anybody watch the episode of "My Name Is Earl" where Earl's ex mother in law does all sorts of terrible things to herself and others and then when they look at her she goes "Dontchoo judge me, Earl!"

Frankly, I'm getting tired of being told that "oh, you've got good genes that keep you slim," or "wow, you must have a high metabolism," usually by somebody that's overweight.

How nice of them to totally dismiss all the hard work I do for myself and my family to keep us eating right and at a healthy weight; they take one look at me and say, 'lucky', therefore taking THEMSELVES off the hook for any personal responsibility to take better care of their health.

I'm sick of it!

I work hard to stay healthy and at a healthy weight, and the next time someone with a double-wide fanny makes a snarky comment about MY weight, I'm not going to smile and say "yeah, lucky us" through gritted teeth. What should I say to her, "Oh, poor you, you're so unlucky because of your metabolism?" It's cruel, to say it to me, and it's cruel on the flip side.

I'm so sick of all the excuses I've seen here for why people are fat. It's NOT in your genes, it's NOT your metabolism. Those are excuses! Some people can eat a ton and not get fat. That was my dad. Well, guess what, you can't do that forever, and unless you adapt your eating habits, you WILL get fat, genes and metabolism notwithstanding. People who don't adapt their eating habits to their 'genes' or 'metabolism' and then blame those elements are making excuses. I used to have a very fast 'metabolism' (such a baloney term to begin with), and now it is slower, because EVERYONE'S metabolism gets slower as they age. So now, I eat less and exercise more. And somehow being able to maintain my weight has made me 'lucky'.

Arrrgggghhh.

Maybe someone DID forget to feed the dragon. Someone send Disneyrsh some chocolate...fast! :earseek:

As another poster said, what would the OP do if her child made friends with a "fat kid?" I can see OP now asking about her diet and her exercise level and what mom or dad feed her. Teach tolerance to your children. Teach them to look beyond the cover and read the book. You never know.... that fat kid could grow up to become the doctor that saves your life.... or someone else who influences your life or your children's life in the future. Trust me, you just never know.

This reminds me of something I always say to my son when he tends to want to be intolerant or a little mean to another kid "Better be careful, you never know, when you guys grow up he might be your boss one day" :teeth:

This thread has become incredibly hateful! For a minute let's just pretend that this was my original post:

I was driving to the store today and saw a woman with two children driving a car and her children didn't have seatbelts on! I'm mortified that a parent would put the lives of her children in such peril. In fact, I've seen the same thing several times lately and I think it's becoming a trend in my area. Don't parents think enough about their children to keep them safe?

And the reactions from the this board would be?

"How dare you judge parents who don't make their children wear seatbelts. You must think you're better than them because you make your perfect child buckle up in the car."
or
"How do you know the seatbelts in the cars aren't broken? How dare you be so judgemental"
or
"You should just worry about your own perfect child and leave our children alone you judgemental %^$&*"
or
"I can't believe you would be so rude as to complain about other people's seatbelt use. At least we give our charity money to US seatbelt manufacturers and not to seatbelt manufacturers outside of the country"
or
"How do you know they're not just letting them ride that way this one time. Maybe they ride with their seatbelts buckled the rest of the time"

hmmmmm

No seatbelts = against the LAW.
