Patriots All Acess isn't even in the top 25 for syndicated programs
I tried to find up-to-date information about the ratings for the parade, but they're just nowhere to be found. The latest info I could find put them at #66.

This should be a lesson: Make sure you burn it onto DVD, so you can have it ready for you when you want to watch it next year! :)

Yup! My DH just bought a Pioneer hard disc recorder. He edited all the commercials and burn it onto a DVD. It's such a great Christmas gift for me because I didn't get the chance to watch it "live" as I was working.

Not sure what the exact numbers. I just know it never finishes in the top 25. The Disney Oarade always has good ratings. I'd say simply put, someone made a very poor, personal programming decision.

For those of you who missed it. You didn't miss much, execpt for alot of commercials and some (in my opininion) disjointed programming. With DirecTV
and our local broadcasting we got to see it at 10:00 AM and again at 5:30 PM,
(LA feed) after the Heat /Laker game. Too rehearsed and fragmented, plus alot
of people I don't know!

Well, my kids woke up at 5:45 and were all excited about the presents Santa left. So all morning I was talking about the parade and I turned ABC on at 10:00 and there was Jack Hanna. My kids were so upset! I sent my ABC station an email and also called the station and left a message. I can't believe that living in Central Florida, they didn't show it this morning. We have had the T.V. off most of the day and I just happened to stumble across the parade on some channel that I never watch, to bad I missed all but 45 minutes of it.:(

Our local station had "live With Regis and Kelly"!! I caught it out of Memphis. I was also disappointed. Some of the stuff was entertaining, especially the scoop on Expedition Everest. However, I think the Christmas Parade program should have been about the parade. The other stuff should have been for another time, another day.

The Disney Oarade always has good ratings.
I wouldn't call #66 "good ratings" especially when the alternative is #25. :confused3 However, I suppose that's really the quandary they face, between doing what would make a lot of people happy versus what would be serve the owners of their company.

Nice chatting about it though. :wave2:

My family was so upset. We love watching the parade on Christmas day. We spent so much time trying to find it and then finally gave up. I think they should run it over again. Boo hoo!!

This is the response I got today from WCVB:

We greatly regret your disappointment that the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade did not air at the time originally listed. Unfortunately, the folks at Disney denied our requests to air the parade in the afternoon, when it would not disrupt our existing schedule of children's programming. In most cases FFCC rules make it difficult for stations to pre-empt children's programming deemed educational and informational for one-time only specials such as the parade.

We apologize for the disappointment of you and your family. Best Wishes for a happy and healthy New Year.

WCVB Programming

WCVB is so full of crap.

Every year, they interupt children's cartoons Saturday morning to show French Open and Wimbledon tennis on NBC. The FCC doesn't have any problem with that. And again, they weren't airing children's programming - They were airing a weekly news show about the New Englad Patriots.

God, I can't stand when companies blame their screwups and poor decisions on someone else, then lie about it.

Here in Michigan ABC12 out of Flint showed it at the correct time...and then at 10 pm on the History Channel they had a Modern Marvel episode that showed how Disney World was made, behind the scenes...I taped them both...very VERY nice shows....

This is part of the reply I got..........

We are an affiliate of ABC, connected by a contractual arrangement to air their programming, and we have no direct relationship with Disney.

I about fell off my chair reading this............like saying a tennant has no direct relationship with the landlord! :rotfl:

Here is the reply I got from WBBJ:

I can understand your concerns about missing the Disney Parade. Regretably, ABC aired it in a time period that WBBJ has commitments to local churches. Due to NBA games, later in the schedule, ABC would not let us delay the parade. We were hoping to get a pre-feed and adjust the schedule around the church services on Christmas day, but ABC declined to send one. Unfortunately, we could not air both programs, and opted to honor our longtime commitments to area churches.

While I understand their situation, I am still saddened by missing the parade this year. I have contacted ABC to see about getting a video of it.

Terk-1

That is the exact (and I mean exact) except mine started with Dear Stacy,

response i got from wcvb. They must have blanket responsed us!!

Hey - I didn't even get the blanket response! ;)

And yeah, "All Access" is definately going to get the FCC all upset about CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING!

(do they really think we are all that dumb?)

this is ridiculous... watching this parade on christmas morning is tradition for many
It is with us, or should I say was. I needed my Disney fix :sad1:

As others have pointed out, KATV in Little Rock didn't show the parade either. Even more ironic is that the Democrat-Gazette newspaper had the WDW Christmas Parade on the cover of their TV Week magazine, although the program didn't even appear in their listings.

Here's the response I received from KATV:

Thank you for contacting KATV about the Disney Christmas Parade. KATV
did not carry the parade this year due to scheduling conflicts. The
Disney parade was a two-hour program. Because of the religious nature of
the holiday and KATV’s local church programs, we felt an obligation to
broadcast the religious programs in the 9:00 – 11:00am time period on
Sunday.

Normally, ABC makes the parade available to stations to broadcast the
day before Christmas as well as later on Christmas day. This was not
the case this year. KATV as well as several other ABC stations asked for
a prefeed of the parade to use on Saturday afternoon.

There was not a two-hour time period available for KATV to replay the
parade Sunday afternoon as ABC Sports had NBA games scheduled. ABC does
not allow stations to preempt one network program in place of another.
This prohibited KATV from airing the parade on Sunday afternoon.

KATV does not have an answer as to why the newspaper featured the
parade in their Sunday television listings magazine. KATV provides listing
information to several listing services including the local newspaper.
The Disney parade was never included as a part of KATV’s Christmas day
listings.

We regret that ABC did not make an alternate feed of the Disney parade
to stations for broadcast on Saturday. Due to the religious nature of
the holiday, we felt an obligation to broadcast the religious programs
in the 9:00 – 11:00am time period on Sunday.

I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for visiting the KATV
website and for watching Channel 7.

I GOT THE SAME EXACT RESPONSE. However, I wrote back the following:

Thank you for your response. However, I would like to offer an important note of contention. The parade was scheduled to air by ABC at 10:00 a.m. on Christmas morning. You clearly did not air regularly scheduled children's programming at that time. Rather, you broadcast Patriots All Access and Totally Patriots for 90 minutes -- which, I would venture a guess, is not classified by the FCC as "educational children's programming." Further, in other markets across the country, other ABC affiliates were able to broadcast the parade at an alternative, yet still reasonable, time for family viewing -- not 3:05 a.m. You may want to consider these factors when you disappoint small children, who look forward to viewing this program as part of a Christmas morning tradition.

What does WCVB think we are...STUPID? I hope folks continue to flood their e-mail with complaints.

I LOVED your response!

I finally did get this email from WCVB also.
