I am so happy for you. It's that kind of unpredictable pixie dust that makes WDW so magical. I don't think the CM set a precedent to comp meals at VA; instead the CM continued the WDW tradition of surprising/ magically recovering the experience of an unhappy guest. I think it is wonderful that cast members are empowered to make choices, present surprises, and positively change the individual experiences of a guest (even if they sometimes first need to check availability/feasability). To the OP, have a wonderful 25th anniversary dinner.

I don't know. Sounds a bit fishy to me.

Just joined this month.
All of 4 posts.
Got comped at V&A for a restaurant being closed.

At least two other people I've seen (one posted above, can't find the other one) have mentioned getting a VIP viewing area for Illuminations, not V&A.

Oh wait - maybe they just got confused...Viewing Area versus V&A.

I agree with the other posters. Sounds totally fishy. And crying to the point of hyperventilating over a Benihana type restaurant - PLEASE! :rotfl:

Please don't say that. Op will be so sorely dissapointed. Might even send her into a frenzied state!
:headache:

My ADR booking window opens mid September. I need to find a list of all the rides, shows, restaurants that will be closed during our trip. When I call dining and CRO I'll be sure to work up a good cry. Maybe they'll comp the fireworks cruise I'm hoping to book.:hippie:

Okay, maybe I am naive. But I really want to believe this story. Maybe the OP often reads the threads but never posts, and now she has this great news that she has to share. I know I lurked for a long time before I officially joined and started posting. It's such a great story...I believe it.

I guess OP is just a very happy, lucky person, that after 25 years of marriage, nothing worse than this has ever happened to her.
I mean...
My mom lost almost two of her children, has survived cancer, had my dad almost die when they were on vacation in Spain + so many other smallers "dramas". I can't see her hyperventilate about something as marginal as a restaurant.
Since this is THE big drama for the OP, I guess she has never had to deal with any other drama during her life, which must be great, no?

I find it a little out there. Crying hysterically over a dinner reservation? And then comping with V&A. Thats a far reach, Italy, France sure, but V&A and they hapened to have an opening at the same time? Doesn't that place book up way in advance?
Call my a cynic but I don't buy it.

Fellow cynic here.

I can ALMOST see this happening in reverse. A couple books way ahead of time for the special anniversary at V&A, prepared to spend several hundred $$$ on a meal. V&A's needs a rehab and, unfortunately, there really is NO comparable experience at Disney. So, Disney "comps" the guests a meal at a lesser resort.

I just don't see this happening.

I don't buy it either. After being on internet boards for years and years, you start to see a pattern in these kind of stories =)

So what if it is a lie? What does it cost you in your "real" life to say nothing to the OP? Yeah, I know someone may believe it. Obviously some still do even with the snarky comments.

It is the year of a million dreams, is it not? You never know!

Make that three! Now, granted, the CM did her absolute BEST to try to find my friend’s reservation – which was under her sister’s name, which I don’t know – so she could put us all together since we’d been planning to eat together at Teppanwhatever since we haven’t seen each other in five years and entirely by coincidence we’ll be at Walt Disney World the same weekend, but she couldn’t find the ressie but it all worked out in the end, but that’s as much pixie dust as we were able to get. Well, and the ‘comped’ IllumiNations Viewing Area, but, heck, if it happens again, I’ll remember to cry… ;) I;m really good at it.

Chicks... ;)

Can you imagine a 6'1", 200 lb. dude trying the ol' crying routine? If you can...I'm gonna make a run at it at check in at the WL next month. Maybe they'll upgrade me to the Presidential Suite at the GF!! :thumbsup2

Give it a shot Laugh. Maybe they will think you are a complete psycho and they will want to keep you away from the other guests.:rotfl: Remember to cry REALLY loudly!

When are you checking in? I'll be happy to cry FOR you if it fits my schedule...

Consider it done...:thumbsup2

I'm thinking I won't even warn the wife and girls of my plan before we get there. The panicked look on their faces as I melt down into a pool of slobbering goo will definitely add to the effect! Who knows, I might even get the Cinderella Suite?!?!
