Wow. That's all I've got. Just wow. (Reedy Creek Emergency Services)

There's a lot of finger pointing, innuendo, and unsubstantiated claims in that article. Due to my recent personal experience, I have a hard time trusting the word of a union president who may have ulterior motives.

SUV's are a growing trend for providing emergency medical care. Most calls don't require transport and faster is better. This sounds like a hit-piece with some facts spun to make it all sound scary.

Disney funds Reedy Creek, and they pour a lot of money into it. There should be no funding issue, and I have my doubts about this being an administrative issue.

I'm torn between thinking you may be correct (a union's job is to complain - pay, working conditions, benefits, etc) and thinking about the well-known skimping of maintenance on attractions all over WDW. That lack of maintenance could be at Reedy Creek too.

If you hire a contractor because you know nothing about servicing a fire engine, that contractor says it’s good to go and has all the documents proving the work they did. Is it still your fault for trusting a contractor?

Yes

The ultimate responsibility still lies with you. Also pretty easy in this case to see it doesn't work and to make them fix it or fire someone else (sue the previous contractor for poor work).

Also you would know after the first 1 or 2 times and not having it being an ongoing issue as this looks to be.

2 of the 4 vehicles in operation. That is factual information that can be checked.

Only allowing SUVs on calls would be something different.

A ambulance being towed to the emergency room is also not "spin" to sound scary but factual information on a vehicle that was broken down.

Also the reporter reached out with no response from the administration.

What is wrong with Disney these days? They were originally granted the right to run their own property as if it was a kind of town because, at least where building codes and standards were concerned, their requirements for compliance far exceeded the equivalent rules in Florida.

I take it you're not aware of Miami's Country Walk Estates, and how the builder Disney hired basically caused the destruction of the place? Disney managed to get its name out of it, but they were the ones that created the dang place and set it all into motion. My mom and stepdad had moved about a year before Hurricane Andrew (so they weren't part of the lawsuits but had lots of info about it from former neighbors). Their place was one of the model homes, and it was one of the few that survived and wasn't strewn about for miles, because the builder used proper nails, not finish nails, when making it.

Same. I'm realistic about Disney (see above), but I'm also realistic about unions (my mom was a shop steward for the Teamsters in the 80s) and why they would speak to the press.

That information could be checked but the newscast doesn't claim to have verified.
No ambulance was towed to the emergency room, so you spun that one.

so you spun that one.

I didn't spin anything just misread it the first time around:
"Shirey says it had to be towed from an emergency room ambulance bay."

So it was stuck in the ambulance bay at the ER wasn't towed there.

If these were such outlandish claims I suspect someone would have responded we will see as time passes if they even try to refute this or not.

There have been people who have stated that Disney has been underfunding Reedy Creek for a long time creating the debt and now it looks like vehicle maintenance and replacement was also skipped over. This is all on Disney and this is not good.

Reedy Creek Fire and Rescue, having multiple facilities and lots of equipment, undoubtedly has their own mechanics. This may be a result of mechanics leaving for greener pastures, as the demand for heavy truck mechanics is always high. After all, who wouldn't hop to a new job for a huge increase in pay and eliminating the uncertainty of what will become of Reedy Creek?

Ambulances and emergency vehicles breaking down and not functioning properly is nothing new....happens every day. We have 2, full-time mechanics for our fleet of approximately 40 ambulances and they are working non-stop to keep them on the road. On any given day, we have 3-4 out of service due to mechanical break downs...most of them have over 250K miles on them, many with over 300K miles on them. Add to that the supply chain issues and it's just a recipe for disaster...this article is just throwing the Disney name on it, but it's probably happening right in your own backyard as well.

And of course there's absolutely zero chance that someone might want to justify the recent legislative move to dissolve Reedy Creek, and shift motivation from the purely political to the practical, by suggesting that the current administration is running Reedy Creek so poorly as to be placing guests and visitors lives in jeopardy. Yep, zero chance.

As was pointed out, in a world of ubiquitous cell phone cameras, the report had 10 seconds of someone trying to shift one unidentifiable vehicle into drive (poorly shot and showing little more than the steering wheel), one photo of gear in the back of an SUV, and one photo showing turnout gear sitting on the firehouse floor (where they often keep their gear anyway). Zero additional videos or photos of any of these other events? Obviously, all of this can be verified or disproved by other means, but not a single photo or video by either an emergency services CM or any of the affected guests or their families (or just plain old bystanders)? I mean, this is Disney World.

Again, being there last week and seeing MULTIPLE ambulances and fire trucks out on calls, I’m having a real hard time believeing any of this. Especially in the day and age of lawsuits and liabilities. I think this is some serious attempts to give fake info.

Even before talks of dissolving the district there were reports of under staffing and poor response times, this seems right in line with what's been happening.

2/4 at time of interview isn't crazy, a few days later they may have all 4 again until something else breaks yet again.

At this point disney is obviously a very poorly run company. Basic services not functioning at a high standard. They certainly can’t blame the government! Lol. Fire station by our home is in top order. But then we live in an area where things are well run— thankfully not by Disney!
